Coventry aside, I don't anyone has showed enough quality to say they could definitely get autos.

Ipswich lost last night, Stoke lost earlier and Middlesbrough currently 1-0 down to Derby.
 
It's an awful league this year boys, as we've shown. We really do have a chance of getting into the playoffs though, it's really not that unrealistic.
 
Today was a very important win and performance. Yes, we fell into old habits after half time but given the atrocious start 0-6 we can't be unhappy with our progress and poisition as of today.

A few weeks ago we were cert relegatonists. Today we sit in 19th position and 3-0 and 3-0-1 in last 4 games. That is a heck of a turnaound.

Our owners made one heck of a mess at the beginning of the season. I am not unsure getting rid of WIlder was a bad decision, it was the hiring of Selles and putting AI at the top of our business model that almost caused us the worst.

But we've made progress as a team, we seem more together, and we have our passion back.

From relegation certs to potential play off contender is crazy and shows how bad this years Championship is.

So, yes, we can get into the playoffs but I think first and foremost, get rid of AI, continue the game by game performances, develop a tactical plan of not falling back in the 2nd half, and go and win games.

8 games until realistically any transfers in will happen.

If we can get the gap to the play offs down to 6 or less then they become a target.

Some nice points there, Toledo. It's just that the final 90 minutes (of today's 94 minute game) was 2-1 to Leicester. They did not turn up in the first half and admittedly it might have been more than 3-0 at the turn. But it wasn't and a different Leicester arrived, demonstrating quick, accurate, possession football, with impressive technical skills and renewed motivation. We were run ragged. We were relieved to take the points, but many would have settled for a draw even earlier in the second half. Wilder had made clear his view that this was a key fixture because of what he sees as Leicester's superior class. He was right and it feels great to have held out. But the weaknesses when heavily pressed by a well-organised, skilful outfit were apparent. We can improve in those areas, given time and successful imports, but no team in this league will roll over and the OP's aspiration for automatics, albeit laudable, is very unlikely to be realised. I would like to be wrong. It has felt easier to be a Blade recently and we should see some entertaining games now, but we are a work in progress and I agree with you that today's game gave the usual clues about how better to manage games. It was certainly a "Phew" moment at the whistle.
 
Safety remains the priority. Let's not get too carried away based upon 3 results, 2 of which have against weak opposition.
Priority one is getting some breathing space between us and the relegation zone. Hopefully in the process of doing that we'll join that massive pack of teams with little separating them (the seeded batch).

If we achieve that in December, then I'll get more excited at the possibility of pushing on in the new year.
 
It’s way too early to start thinking about promotion. We are halfway through the season and sit just above the bottom 3.

First priority has got to be keeping on picking up points and reaching a position of safety.

I’m fairly certain we will be ok this season, Wilder is now looking to have corrected the idiocy of the Selles reign and disastrous AI experiment but this season still looks like a write off.

The most sensible thing we can do is focus on firstly staying up, secondly finishing as high as we can and thirdly rebuilding for a tilt at promotion next season

I think the AI theory was a good one however the implementation was poor. Ultimately we don’t have the scope to be filling slots on possibilities/potential ballers of the future. We aren’t Chelsea for a start. The AI stuff is best suited to looking at the U21s side and finding out next N’Diaye rather than using it for the first team. But 100% agreed Wilder has settled the side and priority on picking up points

I think the reason things turned in the second half (apart from 2 horrors from Cooper) was symptomatic of what has been Wilders lack of tactical awareness and decision making during matches. They made ht subs, put pace out wide and was obvious that they were targetting Burrows who, for all he brings to the attack, is a liability when defending. McCallum came on too late, but largely stopped the threat. He went one up top and took off our midfield general. We then conceded midfield and dropped deeper and deeper, allowing them to rain crosses into our box. Cue panicky long balls to a lone striker who has no pace. The press disappeared and it was the PO final all over again.
This squad can and does control games, pass well and score - there’s no problem there. We still need some fresh blood in Jan but it is Wilder bottling decisions or getting tactics wrong that is the problem.

Agree…I’m a massive Wilder fan….think his man management creating a team spirit and the way he galvanizes the fanbase is fantastic/ the best.
However you do sometimes wonder about his tactics and in game substitutions.

Always find it weird how all the players look comfortable in possession and we have long spells controlling the game.
Then when we’re leading a game….its as though on 60 minutes….Wilder makes defensive substitutions and then for the last 30 minutes we go into “park the bus”
mode and it’s weird how all of a sudden we look so uncomfortable in possession, instead every player just wants to boot it clear back to the opposition, as tho it’s an instruction from Wilder. We deliberately seem to invite pressure WHY? Surely Wilder can see this and needs to work on how we can regain control of a game.

However we have to put some perspective on it. Tactically and regards substitutions Wilder is far better than Seles.
In fact Seles in-game substitution and tactics were so bad lacking logic you could only conclude he wanted to be sacked for the pay-off.

What subs should he be making then?

He’s got Riedewald who hasn’t played for months who he doesn’t want getting injured so Soumaré or Matos were obvious options.

Rotating McCallum and Burrows is a sensible option in a three game week and they frequently come on for each other.

Leicester were fighting for pride. Putting another bloke in midfield to make it difficult for the home side wasn’t an odd decision. Going 4-2-3-1 from 4-2-2-2 gave us a body in there. You could say Matos was a more combative option than Gus however but for his being slightly off with his first time shot, he was close to making it 4-2 and ending the contest there and then.

Bamford was an abvious one to hopefully hold it up better than Campbell and Cannon.

It’s all about opinions but if we were talking about taking off Seriki and trying Matos at right back or bringing on a centre half when losing then I’d get it. They upped their game. We had to react to that. It seems defensive but the game needed that.

They only got that daylight because Campbell missed a chance to make it 4-0 that he should have scored and Cooper pulled out of a cross he should have deflected and then got bamboozled by the flight of the ball. If they’d both done their jobs individually this wouldn’t even be a conversation.
 
Genuine question, why do people keep saying its an awful league? I havent seen many other games but it seems like its inconsistent rather than awful? Surely its a good league when anyone can beat anyone?

good news for us is we can at least have these conversatiins!

I agree I thought yesterday he made the right calls ,and it worked by and large
Aside from two goalkeeping howlers did they create another chance I bet if you watch the game back it's not as stressful as you remember

This is a selection of players in the 2019 season. Doesn't include any of ours and we came second. So much more talent
