I know the season isnt over til its over but we couldnt ask for a better position really.

We could, if I could ask, I'd ask for top of league......

A 10 point gap is probably more than any of us would have hoped for at this stage, tbh after the first half dozen games I'd have taken it if someone had offered us being within a point or 2 of 4th bottom at the start of Feb! I think we'll get at least a point against Everton, not too many others in the next few games, but it needs not 1 but 2 teams below us (not counting Man City) to start doing a hell of a lot better than they have done so far to overtake us. We may have a few nerves if we do go on a mini-losing streak now, but the result on Sat was massive for us.

I miss the last game of season (:mad: ) so we'd better have clinched survival before that!

Should be the default setting for all Blades DD.

When you've follwed them as long as I have the philsophy tends to run along the lines of :-

If it can go wrong it will go wrong
and even if it can't Utd will find a way to cock it uo anyway!!

done 48 years of highs and lows SEB, so can only agree with you. Still though it is fantastic at the moment

red = 0 point
orange = 1 point
green = 3 points

Liverpool v. Blades
Blades v. Everton
Chelsea v. Blades
Bolton v. Blades
Blades v. Newcastle
Man Utd v. Blades
Blades v. West Ham
Charlton v. Blades
Blades v. Watford
Aston Villa v. Blades
Blades v. Wigan

easy:o

This 10 points thing is interesting.........

I know it's not the best comparison but..........

It's like us catching up Liverpool in 3rd place!

:eek:

Don't fear anyone at home at the moment.Bit slow to start in some matches,but hey.
Our goal attempts have been phenominal,just wish we'd convert one or two more and put that gap between us.
Keep the faith blades !!

Well said that man...

As a Blade we're used to not getting too excited but our destiny lies in our own hands and the lower clubs aren't doing anything to further their own cause.

Posted this in the Shoutbox a few days ago - still interests me a little though - for those Owls that think we'll still go down - we're 10 points clear of the drop, ******day are 9.

Still 9 after another match.

:) :) :)

cant helpbeing a pessimist and thinking 'its not over until the fat lady sings' there is a way to go yet, but we are now masters of our own destiny and are good enought for the premiership, there are teams that are poor compared to us.

I agree. Ten points is a fantastic gap to third-bottom at this stage of the season. I think we're safe now. OK most of our players were playing in the second tier last season, but they have proved they can compete with the best.

And don't underestimate the motivational skills of our manager. He's, a Blade, and he's going to ensure we give everything in every game between now and the end of the season. Probably just need a couple more wins to ensure PL football at the Lane next year, and hopefully many seasons to come. Maybe we can even push for the Europa League What a great time to be a Blade!

Didn't work out so well when the original post was made 13 years ago:(

I'm not worried. There are definitely three teams worse than us in this league.

We are a totally different bowl of gravy to 2007 then we had Warnock who was on his personal crusade of ooh I'm lovely, and were in Prem if only 1 season. We now have CWAK who neither will stand for the shit NW turned out or his negativity, we go out to win he went out not to lose there's a world of difference.

United went down in 2007 through their own fault missed pens daft goals conceded didn't have a replacement for Hulse I'm afraid as a club and such we let the wet spam incident cloud our vision okay they cheated, and as I say should have been relegated with us and promote 4.

I've just checked and I assume that this post was made after the 27th game as we weren't 10 points clear until that point and we were only 10 points clear for one game.

It's also worth noting that we are currently on 33 points after 24 games. During the 06/07 season we were only on 24 points at the same stage. We didn't reach 33 points until the 34th game (it was actually 34 points due a to a win, but you get my meaning). So basically we are 10 games ahead of where we were during the 06/07 season.

This is website I used, if anyone is interested:

It's not really comparable. There were only 3 teams between us and the relegation zone at that point, which isn't the case now.
Teams have to play each other, and they can't all win.

Also, I can completely understand the optimism from the OP and others. There is no way Warnock's side should have been relegated from that point and yet he still managed it.
