Mr McCabe and Mr Blackwell were both quoted as saying we had to rely on loans because we missed out on a few players due to being in the playoff final and therefore not knowing what league we will be in. The play off final is 1 week earlier this year due to the World Cup. Also we don't have to sign the players in that time, just begin talks with them.

It's not a hard concept to understand.

Hull and Watford both said they were under prepared after the PO final because of the shorter space of time they have to recruit players.

Loads of teams will be scouting for suitable players now and entering into talks with them, we couldn't do that because we didn't know what league we would be in.

We might have earmarked a few players had we gone up and had we stayed down but couldn't agree anything before the PO final, some of those players might have agreed moves elsewhere during that time. It's not about lying, it's just common sense and very simple logic as to why we were a bit underprepared last season.

I've got to say i get more worried every day. If we need so many players then we need at least two solid signings (first team 35+ games a season) in the next few days. Otherwise fear of other teams taking them gets very real again.

I expect at least 6 players by the ned of the window though or we will be a small squad reliant on loans again.

"the recruitment process has been hampered by the World Cup. We are/were looking at several players from the Premiership/Europe, however their clubs would not entertain moves until other players had returned unscathed from World Cup duty"

I'm seriously panicing, it's a bloody disgrace! In fact if Kevin McCabe doesn't personally post a message on here before June the 1st stating we have signed at least 11 new players I'll post at least 4 new polls about Blackwell and stop posting for at least 15 minutes....

Still a little bit early to be making judgements I think. We could be talking to players now, whearas last year we wouldn't have been because we were still playing.

The play off final last year was on the 25th of May, which is one week away (as of now).

I agree with Kev, i'll be reserving judgement. Sure i'd like us to have signed a couple of players by now and tied up the new contracts of existing players, but we haven't. I'm also concerned that we've tried to sign someone and he chose another club (i.e. same old story). However we've no idea what is going on behind the scenes and it is still early days. The season only finished a few weeks ago (it still hasn't for some) and most players are likely to be on hols. If another 2 0r 3 weeks drags on and we haven't brought anyne in then it might be a casue for concern.

No, no players can be signed. I trust we've reported one of our rivals for signing a player we were interested in, it's an outrage.
There's no rush anyway, it's not as if we've got the smallest number of contracted players or anything like that.
And there's always the loan window...
