It's just another control mechanism.Sorry for sounding naïve, but how does altering kick-off times help with the energy crisis and climate change?

I think in the uk there are a few issues and these are only my assumptions from what I’ve seen elsewhere:Why have clubs never thought of Solar panels on stand roofs?
Going by Elon Musk's estimations of how much electricity they can produce given the space, could easily make stadiums completely carbon free

A couple of times they've collected too much and had to store it on the pitchI think Pigs being a forward thinking club means they’ve been collecting rain water for years
Indirectly I’m inclined to agreeIt's just another control mechanism.
When I hear people say the words 'Crisis' or 'Emergency' after the word climate, I want to punch them squarely in the gob!I can understand that electricity costs for the floodlights have risen dramatically.
But the talk of a climate "crisis" or "emergency" is surely based more on emotion than science.
Was about to say the samePig fans can just shine there phone torches and turn thr floodlights off
Dare I ask... Why?When I hear people say the words 'Crisis' or 'Emergency' after the word climate, I want to punch them squarely in the gob!
We had planning for all the south stand roof to have solar we do have our own water supplySolar panels on roofs of stands and big battery storage units, rain water collection and the like would help them somewhat
Would help if Sky stopped shifting Weekend day time games to Monday night and Friday night etc etc. However, the moving to 1pm would immediately circumvent that inconvenient "can't show matches live at 3pm Saturday" rule and be very tempting for those good chaps at Sky etc. who could then whack another game or two out live to the financial benefit of the already wealthy.
It’s going that way it’s so hard to get a normal kick off time in a Saturday as well bring back how things were years agoJust cancel football completely. Cancel everything.
SUFC did put in for planning permission to put solar panels on the stand roofs a few years back when they were on about increasing the capacity on the kop and south stand. Why have clubs never thought of Solar panels on stand roofs?

You know that big shiny thing we sometimes see in the sky? It goes to bed earlier in the winter.
Apparently being considered "within the game" to save on energy bills

But then the extra costs are borne by 30,000 individuals instead of all being lumped onto 1 football clubSo for the many fans who go straight home after the match will now be home at 4pm ish to put their heating and lights and tv on instead of 7pm ish - therefore using more electric at home, seems to make lots of sense![]()
To avoid using the floodlights I guess.Sorry for sounding naïve, but how does altering kick-off times help with the energy crisis and climate change?
It’ll also mean people are in their own homes for longer when it’s dark. So again, it’s bigger businesses passing the cost on to individuals.I appreciate that there is a climate change narrative that is being followed and we also have very high energy costs… but the best that clubs can do is move Saturday games 2 hours earlier… which will mean some very early starts for fans going to some games and of course alternative transport methods as well.
I don’t know the percentage of games played midweek - but Friday and Monday night games should go immediately as they can be played on a Saturday.
All the money football clubs make and pay their players yet they’re on about making kick off times earlier to accommodate the rising energy bills?
