Pre-Match View From Chesterfield

“They’ve sold out. Hate to admit but that is a good effort. We must be their cup final!”

Don't flatter yourselves. It's next door. You couldn't find a shorter away journey unless we were playing the pigs. This one will be a shorter journey for some than going to the Lane for a home game.

“They are coming to see us end their playoff dream. After they play us, best Saturday, it will be confirmed they will be in league 1 for yet another season.”

The desperation for some kind of relevance is cringeworthy. The 'dream' has been over for quite some time. We don't need mathematics to tell us where we'll be plying our trade next season.

These deluded twats seem to think that we are their rivals? We are punching below our weight and they are punching above theirs, at some point, a more natural order of things will come back and they will be League 2 and we will be championship.

Got to cut them a bit of slack, can't be easy living in a Town where every day is like being on Planet of the Apes.

They are some team in Derbyshire that play football in a Tesco's car park.

If they see us as their rivals fair enough but I would be more worried about being short changed in Tesco's than worried about them.

We are rivals to them. There's quite a few Blades born and raised in Chesterfield. Conversely there aren't many Sheffielders who support Chesterfield so we don't see them as rivals in the way they see us. Probably same with them and Forest.
Their real derby is with Mansfield.

They can shove their spire. YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE

My partner does community work in Chez Vegas and there's rumours among local councillors about redrawing boundaries to bring Chesterfield into Yorkshire. Chez is barely recognised as being part of Derbyshire, nor do many Chesterfield folk feel particularly Derbyshire-ish. I can't see it happening myself. Nor would I really give a fuck if it did.

Sooner the better

It's embarrassing that we even have to play teams like Chesterfield, it's also embarrassing when you look at the table and see all these tinpot village Sunday pub teams above us.....

They wanted to do similar with the Hope Valley area about thirty years ago but a lot were against it as it meant their kids would have had to go to school in Sheffield (much of it is in the Lady Manners catchment area in Bakewell which would have remained in Derbyshire, the only alternative being Hope Valley College which was considered wank at the time and wouldn't have been big enough).
It would have made sense tbf as no one in that part of Derbyshire ever went to Derby for anything, you went to Sheffield (or Chesterfield if you like cheap shit or were a bit afraid of the 'Big City').

We don't want them. They're just trying to get rid of Staveley and Barrow Hill.

Its those kind of comments that remind me why I have come to really dislike clubs like Chesterfield, Doncaster and Rotherham. Tinpot teams who have such massive shoulder chips it is unbelievable!

“they used to be a yo-yo club but now they’ve found their level”

WTF!! retards, do they even know what that means?? low intelligence that is for sure.

We wish we were a yo-yo club, at least we would have had a couple of more promotions to celebrate.

They are the ones that have been a yo-yo club over the last 5 years or so bouncing around League 1 and 2.

Didn't know they'd even discovered Yo-Yo's yet, well done them.

At least we are wanting to get out of L1 they seem happy to just survive in L1. Tossers.

Bitterness, jealousy? I dunno, but they must know in their heart of hearts that this is pretty much as good as it gets for them. Where is the kudos in someone buying Chesterfield and artificially funding them higher? I know perhaps Fleetwood go against the point I am making, but they are the exception rather than the rule and even they are showing signs that despite the money put in, can they really go much further?

So back to Chesterfield, they probably hate the Massive as much as us because we will always be bigger than them, it's just the way things are.

I quite like Chesterfield, the town not the club. I was born in the Hope Valley and still live there 50 years later, so I am a Derbyshire man who supports a football club from Yorkshire. Chesterfield is a good place to be when Derbyshire are whooping Yorkshires ass at Queens Park. :)

Its a bit weird that coz my mates swear down there not Yorkshiremen but are Derbyshire?!?...........i think they think it sounds like they've got more reddies......its a great local derby for them,it is for us as well after grunters, barnsley, roverham, leeds, huddersfeild, bradford & Halifax
