“Hessy went off after a challenge sounded like he lost a tooth.
Another injury that saw a head would to Adam El-Abd (all before half time).
Then Norris was booked for wanting to come on after he had his leg gashed open. I’m not saying Utd were rough but…………….”

Does that sound good, or what? Maybe, just maybe, we're on our way to getting our old, intimidating United back again.

Loads of mentions for their foul outside the area (penalty) but no mention of Flynn being hauled down by their keeper.

All in all a very entertaining 0-0.

Whar always gets me is the one eyedness. Of course we can have differing opinions, but getting things factually incorrect is wrong.

For example, Norris wasn't booked for trying to come back onto the pitch after treatment, he was booked for not quite getting off the pitch for treatment, as requested by the referee, knowing the referee couldn't restart the game until he did.

In other words, he was time wasting and the ref got that one spot on.

And aren't the highlights the same for both teams? I always assumed that, there can be no other reason for the commentator to call him Dun every week, not Done :-)

Such hope when we set-off for Gillingham last August.

Bets placed for a winning season, with dreams of a nice holiday, a new car and speedboat. All dashed on the rocks!

When will I ever learn?

A cursory glance at the team sheet on that day should have given a quick reality check. Even before a ball was kicked.

“This was a total Gills team performance, both in attack and defence, against a talented Sheffield United outfit who were desperate for victory to keep their season alive.”

why is everyone seems to think that we still harbour play off hopes, as if we hadnt given up after burton on 1st march then we certainly had after southend away on sky

I've give it a like cos I appreciate the effort you put in, but I don't wanna read this one cos I can guess what shit they will be spouting.

Quite a few that refer to us as Sheffield so they're twats.
Almost as many as the ones on here that refer to Bristol City as Bristol.

But that's the point. When people say 'Bristol' we generally know it's City they're on about, not some insignificant bunch of fuckers who play in blue and white on the outskirts of town. Same applies when they say 'Sheffield'...:)

I’m shocked they are complaining about the ref and us being physical. Their right back could have been booked about 6 times for a combination of time-wasting (kicking the ball away etc.) and cynical fouling. Their “pen” was never in a million years a pen. I could see from the kop it was outside the box. Flynn’s incident in the first half on the other hand looked a nailed on pen from where I was sat. The ref broke one of our attacks up getting in Adams’ way. That’s at least 3 times this season a referee has physically dispossessed us including setting up Wigan’s opener at their place. I’ve never known it happen to us so much in one season.

They were very cynical sharing bookings around the team to waste time, kill our momentum and break attacks up. But credit to them that they defended well. I’ve not seen us lay siege to an opponent’s box for the entire second half of a game like that since…… well…… since last time Gillingham came to the lane. Dating back to the Warnock era, they have a habit of coming here and scraping something out of the game. We seem to hit the woodwork at least once against them and their keeper (Bywater last season I think) always seems to have a stormer.

Disappointing result in the end as it’s the final nail for our season but the performance was encouraging. Hammond played possibly his best game for us. Coutts was looking closer to the form he showed at Christmas as he linked well with Sharp and Basham who all had joy down that right side.

Our final ball let us down a lot and credit Gillingham for some last ditch defending (that adjustment from the falling defender to deny Adams at the death was very impressive) but if we continue to dominate games like that, we should win more often than not. We need to show we can do the same on the road now.

i love the double standards..........if Rovers get promoted I bet we will call them Bristol next season as well.

We are Sheffield's team, I really don't mind when they (usually southerners) call us "Sheffeel". It grates my teeth more when they call both us and Wendy. . . . .Sheffield
