Sore throat for Adkins. An interview of two halves.

Crosby

  • five of the teams above us still to play
  • opportunity to claw three points back
  • can only affect that game
  • Q: Haven't won back-to-back games since December why the belief? A: You have to believe
  • consistency key
  • recent home performances been good
  • working on things as a team and as individuals
  • Burton top because of settled team for a long time
  • have to get key moments in the game right at both ends
  • aim to win all games - 21 points would be a competitive total
  • need a better mental resolve when under pressure and hang in there
  • all 11 need to show that resolve
  • teams that get promoted concede the least number of goals
  • the Beard - calf strain - in last seconds of training - grade 2 tear - number of weeks out
  • opens up an opportunity
  • Ben done well so far
  • Baptiste light session - decision to make on him playing
  • Edgar - didn't get game time when away - available

Flynn

  • have to make sure we put a performance in and please the supporters who travel all over the country - So he's not bothered about you lot that stayed at home and watched it on telly
  • focus on the next game
  • it's out of our hands
  • disappointing season - can't hide from that
  • terrible for a club of this stature
  • delighted to be able to put it right after Wednesday
  • talks about playing catch up from Colchester, Shrewsbury
  • points then means we don't have to throw caution to the wind
  • recent games been at it from the first whistle
  • showed character against Crewe
  • Burton was a poor performance
  • have to keep doing it for the fans
  • have to give everything, that's the bare minimum

Let's hope there aren't many more Flynn interviews in future.

I'm really hoping his time is up with us, but Adkins comments after Southend concern me.

Maceverly and Flynn are certs to be offerd extensions if the current regime remains in charge.

He can speak for himself on giving everything, because we know the culprits in the squad who clearly don't. I don't personally think Flynn us the worst offender in terms of attitude and ability, but I won't shed a tear if he leaves in the summer. He'll be lucky to get a shrug.

On Weds night it was 10 against 12 as I was convinced Macleverly was playing his heart out for Southend.

Flynn: "Have to keep doing it for the fans" - What about doing it for the manager???!!!

The messages are there for the Board.

At this stage there is usually a queue of players saying they've let the manager down.

Sounds to me like Flynn knows he is probably going at the end of the season.

People forget many of the out of contract players do get to speak to other clubs in January and I think many have been thinking about themselves since then. Win the remaining games, don't win the remaining games why should they give a toss if they know they have a new club lined up and won't be here next season.

We need a clean sweep not half measures and that includes them two you mention . . It's like being in a relationship with a bunny boiler with the blades at the moment . Adkins fatal attraction. Just glad I haven't got a pet rabbit .

I'm pretty sure Adkins is a big fan. Why don't you like him?

Because the bloke has been a passenger . Let's have no sentiment for players who have been well paid but not brought much to the table and somewhat bottled there responsibilities to the club and fans .

Bet our fans who work for Tata or steel industry know the true meaning of work and then bring fucked . Certain players at the lane are not role models and deserve zilch . They deserve the door .

The fact there are debates still over likes of McEveley, Flynn etc is really worrying. We have been nowhere near. 20 points off the top place. Miles off. Players like these have been regulars this season and last season. They are out of contract and would not be even close to regulars in a promotion side. Why are people even considering keeping any of these no marks is beyond me. They have had their chance for SUFC and blown it and interviews like ones I have seen from these two recently make me even more angry. Rather they say nothing. Had a lot of players last 5 years saying we should have done better or saying there is still hope etc. Here's a novel idea. Say nothing and just bloody put everything into games. Not jog about standing 10 yards off when season is on line like many did the other night for last 20-25 minutes.

Has anybody ever heard a footballer tell it as it is in an interview?

Half of them are too stupid to realise the score, and the ones that do, know that they will get blackballed if they speak out. So they come out with platitudes and/or shite, and consequently are best ignored. IMHO of course.

  • Burton top because of settled team for a long time

Just to extend the logic a little further...

They also do some actual running around during games, play as a team and generally give a shit. This combined with the odd player who can kick a ball straight has led to them winning games, therefore enabling a settled team.

And that folks, constitutes rocket science in S2.

Talk of 9 points off is irritating.

We should be looking back asking why we are so many points off first, not 6th.

6th is not acceptable either for a club United's size at this level.

As Deadbat alludes to these players have fallen short to date by 20 points, not 9. If we are a full 7 wins short of Burton they all need clearing out.

You lot keep going on about individual players and criticising them, and wonder why you're still stuck down here.

I reckon a lot of your players would walk into other more settled TEAMS and do well. They're just not being managed right or work together as a team, which will never happen when the manager changes every year as they'll always be left with other managers cast offs, that won't gel with their own players.

Look at Porter. There was constant abuse of him on here, and he's now doing ok in the worst team in the league, probably cos he's appreciated a bit more.

Anyway, I fear a backlash today after your Southend game, and we usually draw against you lot, so I think a draw is likely, unless we score early and you start booing.

Well if you don't like it, do one.

Is there nobody else in Dingleland who can use one of their 12 fingers to type?

By the way, "Barry Blunt", hilarious name!

Tee hee hee

Ho ho ho

Thud
(the sound of my head rolling off)

I wonder if they've considered playing Flynn at RWB and Whiteman in CM. Both positions they can play in.

Tough one for Flynn today.

He's playing for a contract, and it's at home...but Walsall are pretty good. That requires hard work, which he doesn't do.

Will he be bothered to put a decent performance in?

It's a no from me.
