Reckon there's a good chance we'll see the return of this lad against Crew.
Played a fair few games for the first team before falling out of favour and not featured much under Adkins at all.

Skipper of the U21's who's contract I believe is up in the summer... He's got the attributes needed but from what I've seen perhaps doesn't have the level of concentration required to make it at this level...

Bad egg. At one point in time at least, he may have improved his attitude now. Be surprised if he starts.

Wasn't it his dad they was the problem re attitude not the lad?

Would you make him skipper of the U21's if he's still got a 'bad attitude'?

I remember a few incidents being reported a year or so back and he came to the club with a bit of a reputation...

As a player he's got a lot going for him....I remember a few games where he looked the part but would then have a 'bambi on ice' moment....let's see whether he starts...maybe Adkins has seen enough and his future is already decided...

Don't think Adkins has much choice given we're down to two centre halves, both of whom would rather play elsewhere (McEveley and Basham). Up to young Harrison to prove his worth and make himself undroppable.

He's wank and another useless fucker that needs taking off the wage bill.
It's amazing how many fans write young players off without seeing them play, Mcgahay came highly rated and lost his way last season under Clough
not the only one was he! If he lacks concentration that's something he can work on.He may not be good enough but he's still 20 and been playing well for 21s, Not had a start this season so let's give him a chance. There's many a centre back who came through when they are given a 2nd oportunity .
I would have hated being a young employee of some who use this site ,sacked before having chance to learn how to do the job.
90% + don't make the grade but he has earnt a 2nd chance surely.

Yeah as I say, I haven't heard anything for a bit so he might have sorted himself out. In the past, there's been several blow ups and dickhead moments often involving some other players.

Anyone remember when Adams and mcgahey were both dropped in the same game when they were regulars early in the season?

At his age he should be making an impression and should be good enough for L1. There were strong rumours about a drunken incident following his birthday when he was apparently spotted in the NG A&E so he may have had a slightly unprofessional attitude. There are also rumours he's tried to sort himself out and, as you say, he's now captain of the u21s so NA appears to have given him the benefit of the doubt.
I would give him another chance because he was highly rated and, if he's been trying hard, he probably deserves it. It would be a shame to ditch him if it turns out he's decent.

It looks like it could go either way with McGahey.

Istm Adkins is definitely working with him: he has been in the first team squad, and there's the general emphasis on young players.

From what I saw of him earlier in the season he just wasn't good enough at that time. If his attitude and game are developing that's good news - but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Is he good enough in terms of ability and attitude to make it here or elsewhere in the professional game?

Or is his an easy future talking a good game surrounded by hangers-on in the bars and clubs after semi-pro games?

Over to you Harrison.

Just had a quick look through the last few U21's games and he's not in any of the squads...

Are you confusing McGahey with El Tel?

He has it in him - he played well at West Ham when we beat them in the League cup at their place - You had to be there :) - No, you really did. It was Ace :D
(feking cockernee wankers and their ugly bastad masks)
He did make a mistake for their goal and Howard was immense that night but Harrison does have it in him if he has an experienced bloke guiding him.

Still have nightmares of what Hendo and King did to him back in Jan 2006. If Ched got 5 years, they should have got life for such brutal rape.

I like his new silver locks.

He is absolutely shocking. Barely looked a footballer under Clough. I remember he came on against Donny away and buckaroo'd around like a fucking grade a Donkey. And then that awful panicky shielding he did for Howard at home when all in the stadium were crying out for him to just clear his lines.

He has little to no positional sense and doesn't track his man at set pieces either. If this is the type of player we are relying on for the future then we are well and truly fucked.

Get rid. I don't care if he turns out half decent or not. We can't be waiting forever to find out.

I was so envious of that strike partnership they had.

Could've reunited them had we signed King at the right time.

How long would you wait for?
How many of the players you'd like to replace him with were performing consistantly at 20 years old at our level?

I wouldn't wait any longer with him because I don't think the ceiling for him is that high. He has too many limitations and little natural ability aside from his physique. He might turn out to be a decent League One defender, he might not. It's barely worth waiting to find out. If he has a bad attitude as is rumoured then that just seals it.

Just had a look. His last game was 8th Feb where he got the winner v Forest.
Guess he's been hooking up with the first team squad since then!??!? Been on the first bench a couple of times or so times since...

He's still listed as U21's captain on OS...though dunno how often they bother to change that...

I'm inclined to agree that the ceiling isn't that high. The only reason I'd be tempted to keep him is because I want our squad players to be young, with the potential to improve and on small money thus allowing us to have a first 11 of real quality. But it's about looking at what we've got and who can go the furthest. We have McGahey, Kennedy, Semple, Adebowale, Banton, Kelly etc. as young defenders at the club who can play centre half. It's all well and good keeping McGahey as cover but if there's little between him and the other youngsters who are still under contract (not Kennedy) then it may be worth releasing him.
