In passing and movement by the Arsenal youngsters.

Why didn't we tackle??

We looked scared of a group of 18 year old kids.

Armstrong and Monty were the only two trying to tackle.

Hammered it was shit to watch!

We didnt close them down at all gave them loads of space!

Never looked like scoring although lucketti's wasnt a bad effort

Armstrong, Monty and Carney were the only one's to come out with much credit to be honest.

Really poor performance tonight. Lacked motivation and looked really low on confidence.

I would add Stead to that, he was not afraid to put a tackle in.

Other than this though it was complete humiliation tonight. I feel sorry for the guy who threw in his shirt, he will be banned for a good few years I suspect. On the other hand that might not be too bad a thing at present.

Arsenal had our trousers down and administered a good spanking, which most of our players deserved.

I thought the night was one major embarrassment and nothing to do with anything that went on on the pitch.

Pick one from the idiot running onto the field, half the kop singing "Robson out" despite the fact we're losing to a team nobody in Europe has managed to beat this season, or the group of lads a few rows behind me who were shouting "P*ki b*stard" whenever Walcott got the ball and "bl*ck *b*stard" when any of the others got the ball. Amongst other intelligent comments such as "F off back home" etc. etc.

Shocking

EDIT: I wasn't sat in my usual seat tonight so I don't normally have to put up with that and don't know if they're regulars

I get more irate with our "fans" than the team usually.

We had a "discussion" with some in front of us who said we needed to put a "team" out who would compete. Apart from Beattie he couldn't name anyone who he would have played.

We played some very good youngsters tonight.......yes we could have battled.....got bookings and injuries to players etc...

Our "great fans" showed us up tonight I'm afraid.

I take you were happy to see us lay down and die then :shakehead:

I never said that at all.

Don't the opposition have a right to play well?

I think 3 players did ok as i've said elsewhere.

Fans clapping at an idiot on the pitch?

You happy with that then?

Ps....

My original post was questioning the lack of tackling too.

Yes they do, but they should have to earn the right. No passion or commitment from our lads same as all season Arse never got out of first gear we should at least make them work for it we owe that to the fans who shelled out hard earned ££££s

yea and thats about it

Fans clapping at an idiot on the pitch?
I would'n't say that many did he was just a sad old bloke who's frustration got the better of him

You happy with that then?
Do i sound happy after that embarrasment of a performance

We played some of the youngsters from one of the best teams in the world.

We can see where we are.

Yes it's frustrating we didn't compete.......but would you have wanted to play Beattie and go at them, get bookings and maybe injuries?

The bloke on the pitch should be banned big time.......no sympathy......only the club will suffer from such behavior.

Poor performance I'm afraid, but it didn't help we was playing what will be an excellent generation of players.

Carney was our best player, not afraid to have a go, and hopefully will start on Saturday.

But on a plus note, I actually saw Tonge's daft run for the first time this season.....

I think, not for the first time this season, we need to draw a line under the game yesterday and move on. Some say that there were a few players to come out of the game with some credit but I disagree and think that the whole team (I include the management in that) were clueless against a very talented but very inexperienced Arsenal team.

The one thing that I hoped for last night was that our boys would show some spirit and give the fans a boost ahead of a very important couple of games but, alas, that was not the case.

I’m now going to put football to the back of my mind until 3pm on Saturday, at which time I will hopefully see the blades continue with the steady improvement that we have been making over the past few league games.

Chin up my fellow blades :)

I wasn't happy with the on-field events but I wouldn't read too much into it.
We played a team that nobody in Europe has managed to beat this season, no matter which players they put out. I can't remember seeing a team keep the ball as well as they did last night - they were brilliant. Too quick and too good. It's very difficult to chase the ball for 90 minutes and then when you do get it you want to make it count so you try something special and end up giving it straight back. We were outclassed, simple as, but there's no shame in it.
We lost to Swansea 3-0 at home in the cup last season...

i though armmstrong, monty and carney were good last night all the others looked scared and low on confidence. i said before the game that morgan and lucketti wouldn't work great at the back with the lack of speed and there second goal showed that. armstrong had walcott in his pocket all night. stead played well whilst on the pitch but why does robbo keep taking him off:confused: does he not like the fella or what?

I think, or at least hope, that Stead was taken off with Robbo no wanting him to tire himself out before Burnley!
But Monty Carney and Stretch, and Stead at times were the only ones to stand out. Webber semmed 100% commited as well but we rarely got the ball into a decent attacking position to make this count!

If we go with 4-3-3 they (Armstrong, Monty, Carney) could give us an effective mid-field.
I reckon Monty is only effective in a 4-4-2 with someone alongside him who can pick out a pass. With 4-3-3 I'd be more tempted to go with Quinn on the left and give Stretch a go in the middle. Like Monty he's got strength in the tackle and huge determination but he's got a better eye for a pass and a shot in my opinion.

Mind you, what the f*ck does it matter what formation we play with when half the squad couldn't give a sh*t.

alot keep mentioning stretch playing well? i thought he was awful. his positioning was dire, getting sucked over to the centre half leaving his man open. he tackled well but only because of his mistakes made in the first place.

he's been our best player for the majority of the season.

definately. Thought stretch had walcott in his pocket for most of the game.

Was impressed with carney in spells and would definately get a place in starting 11 for me.

granted stretch has done well in midfield, a strange place for him, but his marking is diabolical. On numerous occasions he went walkabout, getting sucked across leaving his man open. we was lucky that walcott spooned it when he was 1 on 1 with the keeper stretch leaving him open.

He can tackle and has abit of pace, but hes shit at marking.
