I think in one of Clough's interviews in March he mentioned we were in talks with some of the first team squad about extending contracts - I'm assuming Harris is one of those, and perhaps the reason he isn't mentioned is that this is being finalised.

Collins signed his extended deal in 2012. Given the Higginbotham signing came after that, you have to assume that this is one of those mad 'player-has-the-option' contracts. Perhaps he hasn't decided on it yet.

McFadzean is a mystery, unless he also has a year option. But all three of these should certainly have been mentioned in the release the club put out.

We have an excellent opportunity to have a major clear out next summer. Wouldn't surprise me at all if a few go for nominal fees in January either. As of right now I'd happily see the following expire:

Woolford is basically this season's Ben Davies – a player we didn't need to bring in, but a familiar face that the manager thought it would be useful to hang around. I don't actually think he was brought in as a first choice player – it's a reflection of how poor our options have been that he's featured as much as he has.

I sort of see this summer as an opportunity akin to Charlton in summer 2011. Powell came in, brought 13 players in which gave the whole squad a fresh look, and they never really looked back that year. We currently have 14 players contracted to be with us for next season. That's as close to a blank sheet of paper for a squad as a manager is likely to have at a football.
