As depressing as todays result is, it caused me to ponder the following point. I wasn't at the game, but it sounds like their first goal was a shot from outside the box? We seem to be consistently brilliant at letting in shots from distance and incapable of scoring from outside the box at the same time.

Is it because we don't shoot from range or because when we do we're miles off?

Is Long crapper than other keepers at stopping long rangers?

Not sure if it will make much difference with our woeful form, but I still am pondering it.

Answers on a postcard.

I don't blame Long, I blame the outfield players who back off and let the opposition shoot. This was shown most clearly in the home defeat to Peterborough. We invite teams to shoot.

Good point, but do we not shoot as well? Genuine question.

Are the long range shots all in the top corner? I'm not blaming Long either, but im at a loss as to why it keeps happening.

We don't shoot as often as we should, I think it is down to confidence. We are wanting to pass it into the net.

Good point im trying to remember our last good long ranger.........as for against just put shots from distance alongside set pieces, headers, free kicks, penalties, tap ins, goal mouth scrambles, one on ones...................

Sharp's goal against Bradford was from the edge of the area , I can't think of one from further out.

Long wasn't at fault for the first except for his usual mute performance making us defend so deep as usual ,he was for the second , a shot in the 6 yard box from a corner.

And that's what baffles me. Why can bloody Rochdale do it and Bury and we cant?

A corner where not one single player of ours jumped.

No, he's not crapper than Howard at long shots!

It was outside the 6 yard box. and was not Long's fault. The defending is awful. Nobody even challenges or is close to Holt. There is 4 or 5 marking noone. Brayford is right on Holt and then just lets him go. Seems quite clear he is at fault.

Yes, Brayford loses Holt, after some tugging and pulling. They all had their men to mark originally though:

Long wasnt at fault for the second!!

I've witnessed a lifetime of good keepers ending with Kenny. The latest bunch are dross

I'm not saying he is at fault alone but a free shot after the ball has travelled 30 yards is his fault , he doesn't command or organise his box, no presence again. He is good at shot stopping very good but his lack of voice and presence is not good enough. 5 or 6 others were shit at defending it too but it's George's area.
