Rochdale are just a catalyst.. it's not that we were beaten by 'little' Rochdale (we leave that kind of thing to our blue and white neighbours).. we are just generally shite and have zero leadership to get us out of it.. could have been 'dale.. could have been anywhere tbf

I think the Rochdale fans have quite understandably got the wrong end of the stick about what happened today. It wasn't because we lost to them that everything kicked off, it's been brewing for ages and it just so happened that they were unfortunate enough to be hosting us when things finally boiled over. We could have been at any ground in the league today and that would have happened.

The fans who did anything to damage theory ground are a total disgrace. Rochdale are not the reason we have a team of pathetic players and a hopeless board.

RIP Sheffield United.

Though nice to see acknowledgement of a slight revival before the Blades' pacemaker finally wore out (in the footballing equivalent of a seedy, decrepit care-home that is Rochdale): "First half we were out–tempoed by Sheff Utd". Perhaps the first time those words have been heard since Danny Wilson's first season. Melancholy in the extreme.

Absolutely fair ,every comment ,including McEveley ,he was our best player.
I do really worry about the manager ,does he have it in him to change things in a game ? He didnt/couldn't react to Rochdales subs ,has he done before ,I cant recall. Clough was a much better organiser and tactician ,I have serious doubts now about Adkins ,today he seemed out of his depth.

Whenever we change system we play well for the first half of the first few games.

I said to my dad today we need to scored before half time, or Rochdale will suss out how we're playing, make changes and we'll go on to lose. As soon as the opposition make the necessary changes Adkins has no plan B to go to, we concede and more often than not end up losing. He seems inept when it comes to changing the tactics mid game, short of throwing forward players on in random positions like we've done a few times this season.

I'd rather lose supporting the Blades than win having to support Rochdale.

I disagree. I got to the ground a bit early and noticed things I wouldn't normally. The programme sellers have wheeled carts and their stewards are happy to help for example. Plus it's a proper old fashioned ground surrounded by houses and with a chip shop opposite the away entrance.

I consciously thought how dedicated you have to be to follow a team like that with no real hope of much more than survival in Lge 1, whilst subconsciously expecting to walk back to the car with a win in the bag.

Of course I hadn't reckoned on our ability to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. Personally, I don't begrudge them their victory one little bit, good for them.

Absolutely spot on post. He also hasn't got the bottle to stick with a plan for more than 3 games without changing it ,which is totally different from changing during a game. He is coming across as a very weak incapable manager at the moment ,its alright blaming McCabe ,but he didn't fail to react today ,we had the players and the team to win comfortably ,but a manager who couldn't organise an easily organised thing.

What shall I do with this laptop seeing you couldn't be bothered to meet me in Studs ?

I was 100% behind the appointment of Adkins in the summer, but i'm starting to have doubts as to whether he really is the man to take us forward long term. I'm sure this will make me a negative slasher or whatever else, but I feel it's a realist view.

He insists we have to play two up front every game, even though it means we often give up the midfield and the two strikers end up totally isolated anyway. Billy Sharp is unable to play up front on his own, so Adkins feels he has to play two get the best out of him but doesn't seem to able to see that even though he's scored 15 goals it's having a huge detrimental effect on the overall way the team plays.

We did play well for 45 minutes today, and it's no coincidence that as Cuvelier tired we started to look poor and slow on the ball, but all Keith Hill had to do was put on two big lumps in Vincenti and Holt and Adkins had no answer or way to stop them.

Im the same ,I hate changing managers ,but unlike Clough I don't see any plan or foundations being created for a long term strategy. I would not replace him until the end of the season anyway but if we are still failing would seriously look at things early on in the new season.
People wont like this either but I would have Warnock upstairs and either Wilder or Derry or the like as team manager ,as I think we need a strong personality link between manager and board ,and he has hinted this is where he sees his future.

I think no manager will be able to do anything here whilst the current regime is in charge in the board room. And there is no sign or chance of that changing.

A decade or so in the lower league awaits.

I remember Preston dropping to the third tier in 1980 around the same time as us and this former giant were confidently expected to go straight back up......

..... Thay eventually got back to the second tier in the the year 2000. Including a couple of visits to the fourth tier along the way.

Can see similar happening here
