Its clear that there isn't one. Poor decisions have been made across the board and we're paying the price for it. Time for some to accept it, for some to man up and for all to put their best foot forward and get the next set of decisions right.

On the board: they've led us to this point and are running out of managers to scapegoat. Shown by he that won't speak anymore speaking this week and he that won't stop talking on social media stopping. The club is on the verge of losing vast numbers on the gates and they know it.

On the players: we have about six in the squad at various stages or their career/development that are worth keeping. Start the process of moving the rest on as quickly as possible. They try but haven't the talent or nous to succeed at this level. They're all passengers and should be plying their trade lower down. It could take some time to get it done and those coming in to replace have to be much better (that last bit is the critical part to end the cycle).

On the manager: I like him a lot as a person and man manager and do not advocate sacking yet another. I am however rapidly losing faith. Much as our squad has clear deficiencies, so do a lot of other squads in the division. It's a very very poor league and someone with his cv and core to the team he has should be able to place in the top six without breaking sweat. He is failing at his job and we should very carefully consider if he's the right man for next season onwards in order to rebuild.

The only thing that's clear is that there are numerous problems with numerous answers. The balance of which are in the hands of the owners. My message to them.....start getting it right or you'll be forced to cover even more running costs. My guess....17,000 if you're lucky next year and it will be a slippery slope from there.

Adapting to the Rochdale subs and change in shape would have been a good start... Or scoring when we were the better side first half.

I was listening on the radio, yours seems a fairly accurate summary.

I'm not quite sure how to accurately describe Adkins style or approach as its clouded by other problems and issues with the club/team but it just seems to me likes he's trying to force something he can't achieve with these players and is asking them to do what they can't.

One could argue that's a case of not having the players, others would say that knowing it and still trying is dumb (for want of a better expression).

352 is a good tactic to begin with and I am a fan, however it's hard to make tactical changes ie become more attacking. It's a tactic which requires the players on the pitch to adapt.

First fault: manager
Second fault: players

And herein lies the reasons we aren't going up! Everyone is to blame (all under the stewardship of our delightful board ofcourse)

I'll only pick up on this point. I think he's really proving that he's the wrong character for right now. I'm sure that there will come a time when he's got things sorted, but that time is sadly not right now. It doesn't mean that i want him sacked though.

Adkins is obviously a nice bloke, you can tell why players like him, but he's got no clue how to do the nasty stuff.

We've had less than a handful of games where you would say that he's nailed it. I think mostly he's been far too respectful.

The good thing is that i think he's smart enough to keep us up. But at this rate i see us struggling until Christmas next season and then it'll be a bit of a push for the play offs, ending in the usual failure. Promotion the season after next...?

is it smart away from home? It should be, but didn't get the result today.

As per my post in the other thread.....they will use that final assertion as the tag line for season ticket sales: "Three windows from glory"

Jim's concept not mine.

The answer is complete new owners. Owners who's sole aim is to create a successful football team

Not owners like the McCabes who are here to make money out property deals or like the Invisible Princes squad who are here to make money out of doing.... Well fuck knows what?

what we do out today's result down to though as the performance sounded ok. There is a huge lack of belief running through the club which I thought positive Nige would bring. Can't blame Baxter or Collins today, but what is it? I certainly can't put my finger on it

But the prince isn't make money, he's spunking it away. The problem is there isn't a fucking plan worthy of the word

They said, day one, their aim here is to make money. Not working is it? I can't see what either party him or us are getting out if it.

As the OP said here, its a combination.... so no, can't blame Jose or Collo for today, but they're components in the machine...

Its not a dig at Adkins, but i sincerely think he's out of his depth. This situation is alien to him and he's not handling it well. But what can he do now? I think its back to basics time.

Can't comment on the game, but from what i heard and what i read of the Fo-nz's tweets, we were OK. OK isn't really enough, we need to be dominating teams, perhaps like wigan

The only way they'll make money is by having a successful football team. Last season's result weren't enough for them, but they've got a whole lot worse this year.

The trouble is the board are obsessed with promotion, without actually doing anything to help it happen. The team on the pitch win promotion. Not the pitch, the hotel, the anniversary shirt or the sponsorship deals. The board seem to concentrate on everything apart from actually getting a team together. I know Clough spunked a decent wad, but let's be honest here, apart from that one window panic spending spree we have barely bought anybody before or after. There needs to be consistent spending and recruitment, which we haven't had since McCabe took over. It's always been either spunk the lot or can't sign anybody.

It would be alien to many managers probably bar someone like warnock. Hopefully the situation will ease in the summer and we won't lose our nerve and keep some of these players. I think we need to stick with him as he should know what needs doing. Changing would be moronic and set us back another year. And I am not great fan, but all I have left is hope

Today was a situation were you can have too much of the play , too many chances and not take advantage . Rochdale had to do something at half time to change the game play . Hill is another manager who out manoeuvred and out thought tactically Adkins .

This I feel was the frustration of fans . No doubt Adkins post match interview will reveal all and help us to understand and also pacify us in the game of 90 minutevfootball , and why we didn't get 3 points .(again)

Everything you say there is sensible. The initial reaction is to get rid, this may prove to be the best option in the long term, however, he does have experience and that will be useful... after the clear out.

You're right about a 'warnock type' he would've been the right man after we sacked clough, had we known that the summer and january were going to be non events in terms of the clear out and rebuild. However, now, theres no need to get rid of Adkins. Keep him, let him build from scratch, no excuses, we build around Long, Beard, Reed, K.Wallace, Che and Sharp. The rest can go. i expect us to to be left with no more than 12 players come the summer.

..or Hammond :O

why is he here then?? he can't afford to put investment in.. but can't afford to walk away.. other theory??

We're actively avoiding the playoffs to have a clear out ready for next season, the club can never confirm that because we'd be drawn over the coals for not trying.

Other theories?

Very few owners make money out of football clubs

Adkins has a great record but I doubt he has ever been in a position like this. A board with no plan, unable to make signings, left with a team of duff players and a fan base at the end of their tether with the club. We are in a similar position now to when Warnock came in but obviously in a league lower. There is clearly no money, no ambition and no hope of ever building anything as the best players will be sold as soon as a bid comes in. This was as it was when Warnock came in and he thrived under those conditions. Adkins has never been in this situation as a manager. He has never been a fire fighter. He has never been at a club where the expectation is this high but the backing is so low. That's the worry for me.
