What happened with the Billy Sharp free kick in the second half? I thought Sharp kicked the ball to where it should be taken and for some reason the ref allowed the Port Vale player to get the ball and break with it. A poor ref in my opinion, the tackle on Louis Reed warranted a red card.

To be honest the ball was still and sharp put it back into live play by kicking it so the referee was perfectly within the rules to allow play on.

I thought the referee was very good actually and had an excellent game apart from that reed assault. His assistant on the south stand side was very good as well and didn't get a single thing wrong all game including some very tight calls.

Referee Toner is a young referee that is being fast tracked through the leagues and on today's performance, I believe he'll be one of the country's top referees in the next few years.

Thought the ref was quick to blow up
In the first half but tried to let it flow in the 2nd

I agree with Tyler ,he was shit ,quick to book ours ,slow to send theirs off.

Thought Hammond and Basham could have had three or four yellows each, Basham arguably a straight red, and that is a recurring theme of the last month or two. And theirs should have walked for the foul on Reed. So just the three red cards he failed to show.

Nothing wrong with letting play continue after Billy's stupidity though.

Which from Basham warranted a straight red?

First impressions I'd agree with this.

There were plenty of incidents where as a home fan you'd be wanting a free kick, say, (me too) but actually they weren't and he repeatedly refused to be conned. (Maybe when Che muscled their player off the ball at the short corner - did he get that wrong?)

Not sure about the Reed incident. I wasn't surprised to see him get up without any attention. Doesn't mean it wasn't a sending off, of course. That's one I'd like to see again.

It was a horrible challenge on Reed, real leg breaker, should have gone for me.
Silly Billy just got himself in a mess and inadvertently took a quick free kick to put them away. Arguably he took it 5 yards ahead of where the actual incident took place but it was his own fault. Being as he scored with a great finish, I'll let him off :)

Saw Reed slightly pull away from the tackle which probably saved him from breaking his leg

Are there any good refs we have had this season?
I actually thought the chap yesterday was better than most.
