I know we're all very passionate about our club and can get carried away but on Saturday night we were set for the play-offs and now people are questioning Adkins as our manager.

Chill. We played ok on Saturday but Donny were awful. There's been a reverse tonight.

We're not good enough to go up. This season is gone. Adkins is bold enough to start with the youngsters. We need to write-off this season, give them some experience and support them. Getting on his back and forcing him to start the more consistent older players doesn't help us whatsoever as a club. Ditto to getting on the back of our youngsters when they have a bad game.

Play Long, Reed, Adams an DCL where we can this season and see who else we can give some game time to. As long as Adkins is prepared to do this I'm behind him 100%.

Is Adkins the man to take us forward?

On the basis of his team selection, tactics and motivational skills this season, I would say not a hope if he stays in charge.

We have not controlled one match thus season
I have not walked out of any game feeling as though I gave been entertained.
Does he inspire the team or supporters ? Nope !

Set for play offs?

We beat a poor side with a performance that wouldn't have been enough against a good side.

I said after the last home defeat, Adkins has a look of Weir about him.

100% behind him. We should've manage expectations and started the cull earlier. Keep playing the youth and developing them. There is no value in burning another large amount of cash in order to get a manager with a worse CV. Spend the money on a better, smaller squad of quality. If we finish close to the top two next season that should be regarded as progress - even if promotion is not obtained. If we don't achieve it by the end of Adkins contract replace him with no payoff.

Given he's not been given the promised money in this window and no doubt hampered last summer as well, I find it hard to judge him properly.

He's definitely underperformed but he has a team without the players to play the way he wants to which has gotten him success on previous occasions. But, he has a very good record at this level. He'd be replaced with someone worse than Clough if he were to leave. We can't keep chopping and changing managers.

I think we desperately need to give him next season an a decent budget to achieve it with. Sell Brayford and give him that money and another million and I reckon he'll be able to do the business.

If we keep changing the only place we're going is down.

Gonna be tough between now and the end of the season...I'm sticking with Adkins...
UTB!

Spend what money?

Adkins needs backing and I don't think board want to spend at all.

They are sat on their hands waiting for contracts to run out and then will probably sell off Brayford or Sharp in the summer to cover losses.

Does Adkins need backing or sacking by the board . He is not making life easy for himself .

I would say the majority of fans thought the board made the right shout with Clough and then with Adkins .

Sack or back him . I think a statement is coming out of the club , to pacify us . Which way they jump depends on one thing and one thing only - Money .

He is right about building a path for the academy. Why have it if we are not going to use it? Being in this league should actually give us a platform to build a squad from the academy.

Our problem is we expect to drop some youngsters into the squad and expect them to be the finished article.

Pretty sure there was a poll on here and the majority wanted to keep Clough, I certainly did.

Im all for sacking Adkins though

Not one member of this squad has faith in Adkins. If you look at it, every member of this squad from Long to Sharp has been dropped and used as an excuse in defeat at some point in the season.

Seriously, only Hammond has not had this happen to him

Hammond didn't even pick up a booking tonight did he? Only chance we won't see him in the team is if he is suspended

It's worth keeping in mind that football has a habit of changing very quickly.

Everyone has their own opinions; some want Adkins sacked with immediate effect, others believe he will come good if he is given sufficient time and proper monetary backing from the board. I personally think we should stick with him and give him our full support. At the end of the day, we all have one thing in common - we want what is best for our football club.

Does anyone truly think sacking Adkins and bringing yet more upheaval will truly do any long term good? Yes, perhaps it might have the effect of improving results in the short term, we might even sneak into the play-offs, but I believe it would work against us in the longer run. The compensation paid to Adkins and his backroom staff, on top of the new manager's wages, would take a serious dent out of our summer transfer kitty, which we're going to need every penny of. We've been crying out for stability for years. Adkins has proven he can get teams promoted from this division, even the one above. Could we realistically recruit a better manager? I think not.

Let's cut the bollocks, we're all hurting. Seeing United struggling in League One is not a pleasant experience, but let's try and stay level headed and consider the longer term. Find some other outlet for your anger, because directing it at Nigel Adkins and his players isn't helping anyone.

Not bold enough to stick with them at the first sign of trouble though, and immediately reverted to playing billy regardless of whether DCL did anything wrong

Can't really argue with at least 2 of 3 substitutions though.

We'd all have brought Done and Billy on in the situation.

I wasn't there, but I'd hazard a guess that if we had three shots in the entire game then it's not the forward line's problem, it's everywhere else on the field for not providing for them and letting one in at the other end

The subs were the right ones but it seems like the decisions made from every player on the pitch were the wrong ones.

Then he should walk while he's still got a smidgeon of credibility left.

What a strange post. The problem is that our players don't have faith in the manager? Err, no, they're just shit.

This is the same manager who doesn't criticise this bunch of inadequates in public, despite them giving him cause to do so time and again. We really need to get away from the idea that one man can solve all the problems at our club. To think that is to think like McCabe. And look where that gets us.

The only player not dropped is Hammond and the players surprisingly know how he is. If you think players seeing someone getting a free ride is good then fair enough

3 shots? We wish! Che had an effort early in the second half and that was it. These "4 or 5" chances Adkins mentioned are figments of his imagination. The ball bounced around in there box a few times late on but they weren't chances. Don't be fooled by Nigel's attempt to gloss it over. It was rank awful

One shot. As you say, the others were figments of his imagination, like the "bright start" where we could have been a goal down in the first minute.

Get rid of the manager and most of those out of contract in the summer will get offered new terms. I suspect we haven't got the money to pay off the management team, employ a new one AND pay transfer fees, signing-on fees etc. for new players.

Honestly, that's low down on the worry list. The players being gutless slow and without flair is top.

I think we could easily recruit a better manager than Adkins, we've not had many worse. Directing our anger at Adkins is the best solution, get him to walk then we dont need to pay any compo, this seasons over and I dont want him being allowed to bring in any more dross.
