As fans this club has been backed in numbers and vocally like no other league one club has. Would Southampton, Wolves, the unclean etc still be getting the numbers we are getting If they were a poor side in its fifth year in this league steadily getting worse? Patronising as it may be, it's much easier to keep your spirits up watching us via the Internet in the sun rather than the constant travelling and stood (as we do away) in freezing cold stands watching all our pre-season optimism (not to mention hard earned cash) slowly drain away. After 5 years it begins to take its toll and understandably so. It's becoming far too easy to knock our supporters when we have had very little in return. Still, despite everything I will finish work on Tuesday a little early, drive my family across the penines and wrap up in the cold to watch the team I love along with hundreds more. Will we get anything in return? Who knows. Will we see a scintillating performance from the blades? Doubtful. Will the supporters be blamed if we turn in a shoddy performance? Most definitely.
no ones blaming supporters
those that do sing and offer vociferous backing ,
they are the soul of the club

scintilating performances

Ive been watching us for 50 years so Ive seen at least 8 of those now

still not a good reason to start abusing the players
the term supporters is dependant on the word support
we cant change whats gone on
but lets try and influence a more positive future

some sure have lost the joy of just winning , which is really really worrying
every single win comes with a huge list of caveats now
we won but
is not a sentence that bodes well for our future

saw everton bombard west brom today 34 shots to west broms one
how many west brom fans will be saying
we won but ,,,,,,,,,we were nt convincing
Ill tell you not one

Not bad mate, but you need a few more words rhyming to make it a real poem ;)

oblivious I was at the wigan game and saw us beat coventry , see most of our games via expensive betting sites
but
no matter how cack its been we support the club and while theres 48 points still on offer we try , thats try and get behind what we have
no matter how inadequate they might have been

I dont care if weve been dog shit and weve had entertainment in very small doses
I do care we grasp what ever small opportunity coming up and support the young lads who might , thats might just still get us to 6th
until thats impossible I will refuse to put extra difficulties in the way by abusing the players trying to get us there
I don't agree with abusing the players. I never do it. I understand the frustration, but it's counter productive.

But this is a forum for discussing the realities. If you're going to get upset when you make big statements that we are bursting with young talent, and I point out a simple really that we aren't, then this will be a long line of disagreements.

We are in a mess right now. If you want any of your points to have any credibility, then you can start by acknowledging that.

I think that us long-suffering supporters should be the last ones to get to the blame for anything (except the idiots who smash up other clubs facilities).

We are getting 20k for bang average division three football.

The pigs are top 6 in the championship, the biggest scoring team in that league, will probably go up this season, and can only get 20k to the "Zebra Claims" sty.

You constantly blame our fans.
It's the fans fault for our lack of belief.
It's the fans fault for not shouting loud enough.
It's the fans fault for being annoyed at being in this division for so long.
It's the fans fault we don't win play offs.

There was a Blade in front of me yesterday, who was giving our players abuse from about five minutes in. Not sure if it was directed at the same player or several different ones, I thought he was going to have a heart attack he was so angry. He was a lot quieter once we had scored, but I just don't see what it achieves for players to hear this kind of abuse during a game.

the only reality we should pay heed to is we have 47 points , despite being thwe worst team ever
theres 48 points still available from 16 games

win 10 of them we will be on 77 points
and in with a great chance of making the play offs

really isnt that what we should focus on win 2 and lose one of each of the 6 sets of 3 games left

thats not an impossibility

or go with petes plan of just giving up

You are just stating statistical facts. There's no need for a discussion board for that.

This place is for discussing opinions on the club. You are free to keep up the "everything in the garden is rosey" line if you so choose. But just for the avoidance of any doubt, our fortunes have been the inverse of the insane world you've been peddling for seemingly the last decade.

The actual reality is that we're 11th and we're a poor side.

We're several points behind sides that are better than us.

Having watched the majority of our games this season, live, and not looking at the stats on the Internet, I know we aren't going to win 10 of the last 16 games. Other fans who watch us regularly know we aren't going to win 10 of our last games. Hell, even Adkins knows we aren't.

These are the same fans who told you we wouldn't make the top 2, when you were blithering on about how the statistics on the BBC website proved we'd had loads of shots on target and were a good side, even though you've now erased this from your memory.

The board gave up on our season in the JTW, not that you'd ever dare to criticise them when slagging our fans off is a much easier target.

Football must be so simple from your comfy armchair in the sun.

With all due respect you are having a go at our support for not being positive enough when after 5 seasons in this dire league the team generally still serves up turgid negative football which you expect us to back 100% of the time and support for 90 mins. I'm sorry but if you think that's going to be the case you've been on that beach far too long and need a football reality check

The club need to start publicising

"The Conner Sammon fucks off back to Derby day"

It'll be a sell out

You comming over BTL ?

All those poxy home shirts can go on the fire the same day

#purgeday
There will be one empty seat....

Im all for having a whine when we are poor or have given a poor display , my beef is pro footballers leave it at that bad display and go again
we were poor v wigan ,then went and got it much better v doncaster
but our moaning fans
whinge one week then whinge again when we win
its about belief, the opportunity isnt gone, the chance is still there
so we have to be professional fans and believe we can do it, start again next game
not carry age old whinges from one game to the next

BTL in having a go at our fans shocker.

So easy to have a pop from the sofa.

for starters we moved up to 8th
not really with it are you

why do we as fans expect players to recover after a defeat
when as fans some of us do exactly the same at every game , give up

Still banging on about how we'll make top 2 if we show more belief?
No?

No?
as Ive said ad infinitum
we will make the play offs
you resortting to telling lies that Ive uttered we will make the top 2 shows how bereft of an argument you are

we had a chance after 5 games when we were 2nd , but play offs are our only option
we would have to win all 16 to get 2nd , not going to happen

win 10 of them

And what games out of our remaining ones do you think we will win 10 of?

As things stand at the minute, I (and I am sure many others) cannot see beyond the next match each week. That's because we may win one, but then collapse the next match.
How many times have we seen it this season/last season where we put in a half decent performance (admitted there are not many of those!) and you think, "possibly we can kick on from here" only for us to surrender the next match?
We take 1 step forward, 3 steps backwards.

What the management need to start doing is planning, properly planning, for next season.
Identifying targets, putting out feelers and preparing a whole new team - we are blessed by the fact a load of this current team are out of contract at the end of the season. We need to take this "clear the decks" opportunity and make the most of it.

The club should be honoured at the numbers we turn out each week given what we have had to put up with.
Do you think other clubs in our position would have been as forgiving as we have been because I don't. I actually think we have been very forgiving as supporters. With what we have had to put up with, the atmosphere could so easily have been a hell of a lot more toxic.

There was a time when we would have looked at the fixture list ahead of us, and laughed. No way any of these teams can cause any problem for Sheffield United!

Now, as you say, any one of them could stuff us. We come back from 3-0 down at Wigan, and score three in about 20 minutes. We play Wigan at home and we can't score a single goal.

We have still to play Burton, Millwall, Walsall, Gillingham and Coventry..........

Plus our mighty play off rivals, Port Vale & Southend
