I couldn't make the Cardiff away game when we were last promoted on Good Friday 2006. When the game had finished, I decided to celebrate by going to Bramall Lane car park. There were dozens of other Blades celebrating and also there was a Muslim wedding celebration going on. The guests joined in the spirits, perhaps a little bemused to be met by loads of cheering and singing Blades fans. It helped make a fantastic day even better!
When we (finally) get promotion out of League One how will you celebrate? We have only been promoted once in 26.years so it is almost as rare as an appearance by Halley's Comet!

In 2006, we got promoted on Saturday Afternoon, when it was sealed i left the house walked round to Morrisons in Ecco wearing my Blades Shirt, bought a bottle Champagne and a cheap bottle of Cava, walked outside of Morrisons, and shook the Cava up, and discharged it outside the door to the bemusment of a lot of saturday afternoon shoppers. With the other bottle, i got changed, caught a bus to Hillsborough, and walked past that shit-tip and loads of their fans holding a bottle of Champagne on the walk up to my birds in Wadsley.

That night i treated my bird to a full night round the pubs of Bramall Lane and London Road, before taking her for a curry in the Shapla.

When we get promoted the next time, i will celebrate with Champagne, if it is a play off final, it will be a bottle of the expensive stuff from the Champagne Bar in St Pancras, if it is Automatic, it will be sourced elsewhere but still drank on the same day.

I was fortunate enough to be at Cardiff that day, and although it was a great way day, it was slightly disappointing because we couldn't be promoted that day and had to wait until the following day. I also went to the Lane and remember the wedding too! The timing of your question though?! I just can't even be arsed to think about it to be honest! We're so far away its untrue!

The bad days will make the good days even better! I remember when Manchester United were winning everything their fans looking bored at Wembley after just winning the FA Cup. How bad must that be!

1990: calling my dad from a phone box in a camp site in France to be told we had won at Leicester
2006: In a dubious club watching the footbal scores come in and confirm Leeds had failed to win.

1979: in the family living room at Arbnorthorne and saw the Leicester score on TV
1981: at the game
1988: at the game
1994: at home in Hornsey and saw the Chelsea score on Grandstand - massive shock
2007: at home in Harringay - looked on the old BU site at full time and the first post I saw was "we are down" - massive shock
2011: at home ditto - obvious we were going down - just checked the Barnsley score on the BBC site - not a massive shock.

Nope: Peterborough lost at Hereford on 5/5/82 (the day after we bear Rochdale 3-1), which meant they couldn't catch us and we were up.

Ok, thank you. Not that it matters in the slightest now, but I always thought that we were promoted by beating them at the Lane on the Saturday. One of my older mates always chuckles when he remembers the crowd being announced as about 23k for that game, reckons it could have been 35k easily.

I was 15 at the time and remember the whole season very well. The Peterborough game was fun and the last few mins were played out with hundreds of fans stood one the touchline and encroaching on the pitch.

I've seen a couple of pictures of the pitch invasion at the end, all from the John St by the looks of it. I suppose after the misery of '76-'81, it must have felt like United were on the way back.

I've seen a couple of pictures of the pitch invasion at the end, all from the John St by the looks of it. I suppose after the misery of '76-'81, it must have felt like United were on the way back.

On the way back from today, the last window proves it, we're having a clear out after the season ends, everyone just needs to enjoy the rest of the season without any expectations of promotion.

2011 we got relegated after the last home match which was a 2-2 draw with Barnsley

On a slightly different note, I know when I am going to die. In about 30 years when the cycle that is football goes round we will be in the FA Cup final and will be 3-0 up with the last minute of added on time being played, the ball in the opposition corner and at that moment I shall pass on thereby still not seeing us win a major trophy in my lifetime
