Am I really the only SUFC fan that hasn't woken up clutching a box of tissues (for the tears you dirty pervs), shaking with rage and a spat out dummy with thoughts about pinning Jim Phipps to a cross?

I'll admit it, the only slight disappoitnment is that we didnt get Burn. That aside, I think we have started the process of dumping the deadwood quite well;

Loans: McNulty, Freeman, Wallace

Hopefully at least 2 of these will turn into permanent signings.

Outs: Alcock, Diamio, Higdon, Heh

So, 4 definitely off the books and maybe 6 or 7 if the loan deals go well. Decent start.

Looking at the end of the season, which players are out of contract and can be released?

I am in the minority like you, unless we were signing some amazing guaranteed first teamer, I wasn't overly arsed and was glad we dumped off as much shit in the window as we did.

I don't see how getting rid of players but not improving our squad one jot is a good thing.

Where does that leave us? Lower costs - yes. Better able to get out of this division - no.

We needed better players. We didn't get them. Specifically, how the actual fuck have we still not made any attempt to improve our centre backs? It's staggering.

No, you're not alone HCDM. I'm disappointed, and although Sheffield United are a very important part of my life, I can't get too angry about what has or hasn't happened.

Think the new strategy is to amass enough points to avoid relegation (Jim mentions our proximity to the drop zone) cause they know they've demotivated enough players near the end of their contract not to bother trying. once relegation is avoided we can expect a rebuild on the cheap taking time to get a promotion side together. Lets face it baring an unexpected fluke this season we could be hear when I'm drawing my pension.

Just three more seasons until I can get a cheap season ticket and lord only knows when Ill get a state pension, should be in 10 years I think, and unfortunately I can see no improvement in fortunes at SUFC. Still I should have plenty of time to dwell on that.
