Shambles

There's a real outpouring of grief on here at the moment and I'm not surprised. We're 1 point off 6th and acting like we're 15th. No ambition being shown but thats ok because if Adkins says "the squads too big" enough times we wont care about blowing the season apparently.

This meltdown is lost in me. We are doing what we should have done before, in fact what should never have been allowed to happen in the first place.

If I were the owners I'd be doing the same. I'm hopeful that the heads that rolled recently were the ones who allowed Clough to make such a mess.

For all the hysteria about the mistakes made by the club, it's poor purchasing, and not lack of investment, that has fucked us over the last decade.

One owner who's lost interest full stop.
A manager who only buys players who have played for him before , all ageing and slow .

Hello David.
May I call you David?
What seems to be the problem?

And McCabes managerial choices. That's his Achilles heel, no one can dispute that.

We've signed some utter garbage, in positions we didn't need, on long contracts. Utter madness.

I cannot wait until the summer.

Oh aye, the rot started with the appointment of Robson, and successive boards and management have followed the same "catch them on the way down" philosophy.

Fully agree. Which is what has happened with Clough and Adkins, but if I remember rightly you fought tooth and nail to defend Adkins' purchases in the transfer window. Hence the reason we were at each others throats a few months ago.

Wouldn't Summer 2016 be even better if we shipped out the deadwood AND were in the championship? People talk like the 2 situations are mutually exclusive.

Couldn't agree more.

Some folks would still find something negative to enthrall us all with.
Maybe we should get The Star to do an S.O.S feature on us? We are owed one aren't we?

We were at each other's throats because you opened your account by saying "we should release all the players". My frustration started with your lack of any awareness about the difficulty in doing so, and at the length of time you'd allowed before passing judgement.

Short terminism is right up their on our list of weaknesses. Were all guilty of it from time to time, but you took the piss in a right royal fashion.

I am concerned that the manager has carried on with our failed transfer policy, but would rather discuss it with those who'd acknowledge that 4 previous promotions aren't simply down to luck, as you've argued since he was 4 weeks into the job.

"End of" and "full stop" are up there with finishing a sentence with "fact"' and just hoping everyone thinks it must be true without questioning.

We've been in this league 5 years so one more wont hurt. If we clear out the crap left from other managers and let Adkins bring in his own men it'll be a totally different season next season.

Who in there right mind is going to match or increase our current players wages? The players arn't going to leave for less so will be happy to sit it out until the summer. Look at where the ones have gone on loan, mostly to league two clubs and they won't be paying 100% of wages. The same would apply to the likes of jmac, Collo,Long, bash, JCR, scougall, Flynn, etc etc we'd make a very good l2 side but nowhere near good enough for promotion out of this league. we're stuck with what we've got until the summer when we can replace. Clough spunked the budget on average players and it can't be fixed until the summer.

Bit of patience needed here, as hard as it is to take.

This meltdown is lost in me.

The Morsy deal is just about the straw that's broken the camels back, alco. To see teams like Wigan 'going for it' while our lot sit around with their thumbs up their arses is galling. Instead of 'going down fighting' we're staying down without fighting.

For all the hysteria about the mistakes made by the club, it's poor purchasing, and not lack of investment, that has fucked us over the last decade.

Think most of us would agree with that. But that brings us back to Morsy. The reported fee is £250,000. How much have we wasted on Sammon, Higdon, Hammond etc?

Wigan will probably beat us in the next game but that's because they've built a team, not cobbled together a bunch of cast-offs. Now Burton at home on March 1st is when it may get very ugly.

It's poor buys and lack of investment. Our Board is a complete and utter disgrace. The pig owner is showing what meaningful investment and making genuine and realistic bids can do for a club. Losing out on players because we won't match £200k bids from the likes of f'kin Wigan shows how low we have sunk.

Either way, we lose millions every year? A gap filled bully others. We can all hope someone else comes along and gives us more money, I'm not sure how much we can blame those who already are, just because we don't consider that it's enough.

Few clubs wouldn't have been promoted by now given out turnover and investment. It's the dross that we keep buying that has cost us.

And this is where I can't understand that argument. We've already sampled his ability to bring in his own players. They've been dreadful. Why anyone would want to then let him repeat that on much more of an important, larger scale with a lot more at risk is beyond me. It's just asking for trouble.

That's my point we have owns who don't want to spend and a manager who incapable of spending wisely if he were given some cash.

I am so depressed with this set of muppets

Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And i can take or leave it if i please

To be honest it the manager that upsets me most.
When I Adkins came in I was full of hope. Sammon and Woolford started the rot and the final nail in the coffin was Hammond.
All of our recent managers keep on making the same mistakes.
Ageing player devoid of pace.
Our manager shouldn't need lots of cash , the wages United pay should attract the right sort of player. Only of we had manager who recognises the right sort of player

It's questionable how far along the Sammon deal was before Adkins arrived.

Edgar - whilst signed too late is an improvement on what we had.
Woodford - whilst not great isn't awful and I think he was signed as he is always fit and originally thought of as a squad player. Probably played more games than he or Adkins was expecting.
Sharp - we can all agree that one has worked out.
Hammond - hit and miss but results have been better with him in the team.

Taking Sammon out of the equation

I think 3 of those have been an improvement on what we had and they are regularly fit for long periods of time.

So David,

Adkins with all his promotions suddenly becomes a bad manager overnight.

So how would you appoint a manager. Just pay the lower salary and get someone from the non league?

No, history and evidence shows you look at someone's cv and bring in winners with relevant experience.

The problem is that the best don't come cheap. But the board showed ambition and brought in the best.

Are you saying they should stop trying to bring in the best managers and players? It might not work but I can't knock the effort so far.

However of course we need to improve this January transfer window, so we'll see if they keep up the investment as promised.

You are conveniently choosing to ignore the poor signings he's made since he's arrived.

Would you want that repeated in the summer, on a much larger scale?
