Fair enough, but slightly concerned at who plays RB if Brayford gets injured. Bear in mind Flynn's injury record for the past 2 years makes pretty bleak viewing.

Hope we can recall him..

We can't – it's a standard loan to the end of the season, rather than an emergency loan where a recall clause applies. For standard loans the only recall is if it's season-long and the player is recalled in the midseason window.

It also means that, like with McNulty, if we make the playoffs and Pompey don't, he won't be available for selection.

S'okay. We'll get Howard or Long to go RB.

Basham in goal. Sharp as CB

Hey - it can't fail!

All correct except not sure on that last paragraph. Think they do become available but not 100%

This came up on another thread the other day when someone suggested we recall McNulty.

53.2 Standard Loans. Subject to the provisions of Regulation 52.2, Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions:

53.2.1 Standard Loans shall be allowed to or from Clubs (or, as applicable, clubs) in membership of The Football League, The Premier League, The Football Conference, Northern Premier League, Isthmian League and Southern League providing the rules and regulations of the respective leagues so allow.

53.2.2 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 53.2.3 below).

53.2.3 A Player whose Standard Loan expires (or terminates) on completion of his Loaning Club's League Matches will not be eligible to play for his Parent Club (where it is a Member Club) in any remaining League Matches in that Seasonnotwithstanding the fact that he is a Registered Player of that Club and that such expiry or termination occurs during a Transfer Window.

53.2.4 Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 53.2.2, a Standard Loan of a goalkeeper (but not otherwise) may be subject to a recall clause exercisable at any time. Any recall may only be implemented in extenuating circumstances and with the consent of The League, such extenuating circumstances to be determined in The League's absolute discretion. A goalkeeper shall not be permitted to resume any Standard Loan following the exercise of a recall.

53.2.5 No more than 2 Players who are over 23 may join one Loaning Club from another Parent Club on a Standard Loan in any Season.

53.2.6 Standard Loans which subsequently become permanent transfers (which can occur any time during the period of the Standard Loan) shall not count against a Club's quota of such Standard Loans for that Season.

Does a play off count as a "league match"?

Promotion isn't a genuine ambition this season. I think that should be obvious to everyone now. The season is simply about getting people off the wage bill and anything else is secondary

I fully understand Freeman's frustration as he's a decent player at this level, and the shirt was his until Brayford returned. This move, however, seems a bit short sighted seeing as Alcock has also departed. We now only have one recognised RB, unless I've missed someone amongst our stupidly big squad.

Flynn to cover if the Beard gets injured, perhaps?

If it doesn't it surely doesn't count as being within a transfer window...

But that rule wouldn't apply as it wouldn't be an "early termination". The loan would end when Portsmouth's season ends, if we are still in the play offs at that stage and "league matches" doesn't include "play offs", then he would be eligible.

Didn't something similar happen in 2012? Monty was on loan at Millwall, but came back when their season finished to play in the plays for us.

Edit: forget that - I see it includes expiration as well!

And yet we extend the (expensive) deal for the distinctly average Hammond...

Thought he was a pretty decent player going foward and if he played in any position on the pitch other than right back, I'm sure he'd play every week..

What point are you making here? That Freeman is essential for centre midfield?
No...

That whilst last season Flynn was adapting to right back/ right mid, Adkins prefers to bring him in at centre mid... Where he should never ever play...

It's another off the wage bill but he'd be fairly low on my get rid list. There'd be plenty more above him. Strange to get rid with the vulnerability it leaves if ever Brayford was to get injured. Extend Hammond's loan, get rid of one of the only covers we've got at full back. All in the mind of a Mr. N. Adkins.
