A few rumours I've heard

It's think the rumours that I've heard is there's a distinct smell of pork in this article.

Hows that? As people have mentioned in this thread, rumours regarding a rift between the prince and McCabe have been lingering for a few month, this isn't something new so i've been told.

Its also a new pitch, which when wet hardens up, have you seen the amount of water we spray on it at half time, even through the natural rain the ground receives?

Jim hasn't been at the stadium for a while now, you don't need a source on that, but if you look at his facebook/twitter news feed its not hard to work out.

One week to go Ladies & Gents.
It's a high stakes game of poker.
The Prince has examined his cards and raised.
McCabe is looking at him suspiciously - will he fold or call his bluff?

The rumours you may have heard (that were possibly started by Wednesday fans) have most likely been regurgitated by other Wednesday fans or even general local fans... News can travel slowly and they've probably only just heard it.

No Pig started it

At the same time the "well connected" BM poster was told by his source "very close to the club" that 1) McCabe was selling the ground and moving us to Attercliffe and this would be announced in January 2016 and 2) Jose Baxter was finished at the club and would never play for us again.

The poster hasn't been back since and was telling people at a game as detailed in the link above.

As for Jim, hasn't he been unwell?

So what you're trying to say is there's a lot of brown stuff involved then? :)

Piggy infiltration ??

It came from a fairly well known Blade ( who hates McCabe with a passion for reasons I won't go into) supposedly from a source high up in the club.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone wasn't just inventing stuff knowing he'd have a meltdown and inform all and sundry. It got laughed at straight away and despite being asked about it hasn't been back since.

The same source said Baxter would never play for us again.

Despite being on here a few weeks ago it's now classed as true "because it's hanging around" rather than the OP has only just heard about it.

Jim and Sela both poo pooed it at the time btw.

And for the umpteenth time HRH didn't get his shares for a quid or "a song" The original deal was for ten million quid and he's put at least another two million in since.

So Adkins saying he has bid 6 figure fees for certain players is a load of tosh? don't make me laugh!!!

You can bid whatever you want for whoever you want. Doesn't mean you have two brass washers to rub together.

Well to add fuel to the fire I overheard Jim Phipps on the phone a few months ago at the petrol station on the corner of the ground, (he was at cash point in front of me) and overheard him saying that they were fed up with that lot, can only guess this was in reference to the McCabes

So what happens if the club accepts the offer? Do we ring the manger up and say "sorry mate, just joking we ain't really got any money"

You probably say "we will pay you over 5 years" or something equally ridiculous.

That's true. It was a conference call between Jim, Brian the Blade and myself. Fed up because the flats McCabes building on BL arent facing Mecca.

2/3 years often. Hull certainly didn't pay upfront for Harry.

Think you are probably more of a tax expert than me but previously, clubs were able to offset the cost of purchase against the length of the contract. This got changed a few years ago with invent of FFP and all that so that transfer fees were regarded as cash and the fees went straight into the account. I think is why we are seeing more of this type of deal.

I believe transfer fees paid are capitalised in the balance sheet and written off over the length of the player contract. That doesn't necessarily reflect how the cash is actually paid over though.

Sorry mobile I may have misunderstood your point. When a fee is agreed for the sale of a player, for FFP purposes (SCMP in L1+2) you can only take it into account when cash is actually received, which is what think you were saying, so if you sell a player for a million and get half up front you can use that for FFP purposes immediately. If the rest is payable twelve months later, you wait a year to be able to spend the other half a million. Same for buying players. FFP rules shouldn't affect the accounts treatment of transfers, it's about cash ins and out.

I am doing this out of memory which is not very good as I get older (!) but as I recall, a few years ago, we could say buy a player for £100,000K (was going to say a million but it didn't happened very often) and put him on a 3 year contract. We would pay the cash up front, put him on a 3 year contract, so we could then effectively put the player through as a capital purchase and "write him off" for purposes of accounting over three years. The FA stopped this so that they said players could no longer be counted as capital of a club for asset purposes meaning that the player became just another commodity (a bit like buying a ream of paper which probably fits well with our midfield). Hence, now more clubs are "spreading payments" thus helping on FFP to spread the payments out allowing payments to cover wages over a longer period. The problem is, like with any buying things on credit, it only takes a bubble to burst .....

It's a high stakes game of poker.
The Prince has examined his cards and raised.
McCabe is looking at him suspiciously - will he fold or call his bluff?

.......the tension mounts, the Prince twitches but McCabe breaks first and asks in a firm authoritative voice..........

Have you got Mr Bunn the baker?

Or Mr Burn the center back?

Maybe it was the players!
