He's basically saying that he still wants to be the man but doesn't want to pay for the privilege.

Would we have seen more investment if the whole club had been sold?

How do you attract more investment now that 2 people have to be talked into selling rather than 1?

If it were me, I would be reluctant to throw money at something I only partly owned, so I can see where the Prince is coming from with limited investment.

I still think that the best thing in the Prince deal was for McCabe to keep 50%

shame he didn't offer it to me.. i could have topped the quid that was paid for it.. i don't think this prince guy exists frankly.. he's like the wizard of oz

He does seem to much more invovled with with what is going on in his country. https://twitter.com/Saudi49er

I don't think McCabe will ever let go unless someone pays a stupid amount of money for his half of the club. The prince has clearly taken a step back but by doing that he is letting McCabe make more crap decisions.

In the mean time 200k for the likes of Morsy wont happen and that is a deal we could actually make happen easily if we wanted to.

I think it's because km is a blade ( I know, I know.) But if some one got 100% of the reigns, they could then choose to do whatever they liked, and not in a good way as far as the fans are concerned.
But while ever km is partly in control, they would have to get it passed him first.

spot on - you beat me to it - but why let the truth get in the way of ANOTHER potential feast for the trolls about McCabe.

The answer is quite simple, in order to get 100% of the club, you need to buy the ground (minimum £25M) plus McCabe would have wanted a premium to cover complete sale.

No one has been remotely interested in paying £25M for the club to then invest £20M (say) to invest in players and cover losses.

Sadly, there hasn't been a queue of people with millions in their pockets wanting to buy us.

The Prince and McCabe chucked a further £20M at it without success.

To be fair to McCabe, the deal he did with the prince was one of the few things he's done over the years that appears to have been done very well.

He 'sold' his 50% stake in the club for nothing, in the exchange of the prince investing a certain amount of money over X amount of years. I know that's not exactly transparent, but there has been money put into the club, and the general costs of running the club have been covered. More importantly, and something fans forget to remember, is that as part of the takeover McCabe agreed to write off all debt owed to him by the club. Which effectively makes us debt free. We may be in a shit situation at the moment, but at least we're not millions in debt facing possible admin or wind up orders. The financial state of the club seems secure.

Also, by McCabe keeping 50% it also gave us a little security in case the takeover wasn't successful. Which I'm grateful for.

In theory the takeover was perfect for everyone and the club. The problems have come with terrible decisions at board room level (as normal), having directors and chairmen who know little about football, in my opinion sacking Clough, and selling our best player each season without replacing them.

We now have far too many directors running the club (I couldn't even tell you who is our CEO or mamaging director), a chairman who knows nothing about the game and lives abroad, and two owners who live abroad and probable only involvement is to check our scores online each week.

Only we could fuck up what appeared to be a very well thought out and watertight takeover. just another chapter in be ineptness that is SUFC. But let's be honest, we could have all predicted this would happen the day the takeover went through.

I believe McCabe now owns the ground seperately and rents it out to SUFC? So purchasing SUFC has nothig to do with buying the ground as far as I can tell. Good ol' Kev taking the only asset worth having off us.

That was exactly the point I was making. The Prince owns 50% of the bit of the club that costs a shed load of money in players wages and currently loses £5M per year.

Why would anyone buy 100% of the football club operation without buying the assets of the ground etc.

McCabe won't sell 100% unless someone stumps up £25M plus. Then they have to fund getting us to the PL. That might cost another £50M. Then they might make a return.

To give you a comparison Tuna Man paid £40m for the pigs and if it takes 3 seasons to get to the PL, I reckon he'll have done £80M at least.

There is no one with that money who will buy 100% off McCabe. The Prince has nothing like those funds.

Kevin McCabe sold half of the club to the prince in return for investment in it. It is as simple as that. Why didn't he sell the whole club? McCabe is worth more than the prince. The prince probably couldn't afford to take us over himself at the moment

But we say that and we're negative bastards.

Wilson fucked up and its just got slowly worse every season.

Its a fuckin mess.

Why should anyone have to pay Kev the blade 25m ? He got the club for peanuts, and to make sure he didn't pay the full asking price he held us back for years

Because it's cheaper? And presumably if they actually achieve promotion they will make a fair few quid. Countless teams don't own their own ground. Suckers, just like us. But I can't imagine McCabe took the ground off us with the intent of only selling the club if someone bought the ground as well. More likely he wants to sell SUFC, keep the ground and bleed us for all he can if we ever get to the promised land.
