Was thinking on the way home about how we have missed him this year. When he played last season he was either a match winner (11 goals and countless assists) or looked a weak player bossed out of games.

However, he spent nearly all of last season being double marked after his exploits in the FA cup the year before, meaning that created space for other players such as Baxter, Flynn etc.

In many ways we have strengthened the team substantially from last season.

For all his limitations Hammond is an upgrade on Doyle, Edgar is an upgrade on however was being played out of position at CB and Sharp is an upgrade on Mcnulty/Davis.

The loss of Murphy however is costing us dear.

I agree regarding Murphy and the others but do you really believe that about Doyle and Hammond?
Yes I do. Lets not pretend that Doyle was great, his legs had also gone, league 2 is his level, Hammond looks like a raving average League 1 player (which means it's an upgrade ;))

I would say league two looks to be Hammond's level also, his second touch is a tackle
If Hammond could tackle and get up and down the pitch we wouldn't need Bash, if he could create chances and spray the ball around the park we wouldn't need Coutts- but we do, and he can't.
He's on loan from the best side in the country and he's seriously lacking in areas that you'd expect.
So we have to over compensate and play players around him at the expense of some genuine wingers that could creat some chances.

Our observations of Hammond are spot on, the manager doesn't agree with us though and he will be made permanent in the summer, not a doubt about it..

Adkins will sign him on a three year contract if he can get away with it, a player we universally agree isn't what we need will be here after Adkins gets the push, he's on his way to it if he carries on like this isn't he..

Hammond is better footballer than Doyle, clearly, however his legs appear to have gone, if you can't run you can't play, certainly not in Centre Midfield

Naffs me off watching footy highlights last night. Ward scoring for forest, Maguire in the thick of it for hull and Murphy clearing of the line for Brighton to name a few :(

It does me too, but they say it's no good looking back and you've got to move on, but the future isn't looking too rosy is it... Nigel 2 is really Nigel mark 2, no better than the manager our board sacked..

Worried about what the opposition are planning at a home game, where's his bollocks eh..
