Saw the below video in FB tonight. It was part of a film called "A Kind of Loving" starring James Bolam and Alan Bates. Bolton won the match by 2-0. Our line up that day was Hodgkinson, Coldwell, G Shaw, Richardson, J Shaw, Orr, Allcurch, Kettleborough, Pace, Hodgson and Simpson

A rare appearance for Harry Orr!

My daughter, who lives in Bolton, got 10 free tickets for their game v Fulham, so she took a load of kids. They also got a subsidised bus from the end of her street to the Reebok and back and a free pie and programme. She was well impressed. Said the quality of the football was about the same as ours too.

If they were stood on that spot now, they'd be in the queue for the deli in Asda :-)

I'm not sure if it's in the same film, but I'm sure I've seen some footage of a steam engine trundling slowly past behind the kop and the driver watching the game.

I think that other film was called The Love Match with Arthur Askey.

I only went to Burnden Park once. Possibly October 1968 or 1969. 0-0 draw. The very first shot on that clip is from about the same place we were stood. I recall outside that open end there being a huge cinder type car park.

One of the few clubs where I've been to their old and new grounds. Reebok in 2006/07.

November 15th 1969.

We lost 4-2 in August 31st 1968

I went to the 2-1 defeat in January 1971 (Alan Hodgkinson's and John Tudor's last league match for us). Tudor opened the scoring in the first few minutes but Bolton hit back. They finished bottom of the 2nd division

Thanks for that Silent. Was that our first defeat in the 1968/69 season? A lot of us thought that a speedy return to the top flight would be simple. Took a bit of a hit that day. Had we sold Willie Carlin by then?

I remember (must have been playing football at Graves Park) being at Meadowhead and hearing that Man Utd had lost at Hillsborough 5-4 on that day.

Boiling hot day.

Hello playmates! :) I have a friend who's a big Arthur Askey fan, and not in an ironic way either, I'll see if I can get his Betamax copy and have a watch. His other big love is Stanley Holloway monologues, but apart from that, he's quite normal.....

Yes, our first defeat of that season and yes we had just sold Carlin to Derby

I used to take our defeats very personally in those days.

Sorry, Barry Hartle played in number 11 shirt not Ronnie Simpson. I was trying to identify the Blades players coming off the pitch at half time and thought one of them looked like Barry Hartle so I checked the team again in the Complete Records book

A rare appearance for Harry Orr!

"The reserve defence I told you about was – Des Thompson; Roy Ridge; Cliff Mason; Tommy Hoyland; Dennis Finnegan; Harry Orr.

They were as much a fixture as the 1st team. They rarely got to play in the first team. Des Thompson stood in when Hodgy was injured (like after the Orient game I mentioned); Roy Ridge probably didn’t get into double figures with his first team appearances; Cliff Mason did ok in 60-61 as a stand-in right wing, but Len Allchurch proved to be the proper solution to that problem; Tommy Hoyland was first choice 1957-59 but lost his place to Rocco Richardson; Dennis Finnegan didn’t play many first team games and neither did Harry Orr. They seemed content to stay reserves."
