Anyone know when...

Leaving aside the merits or otherwise of our shirt, shows how daft football is that Coventry, who play in sky blue, change to red and white when playing Sheffield United. I presume there's some sort of sponsorship reason, but ridiculous nevertheless.
I did wonder why they chose that kit to play in considering their home kit wouldn't have clashed.

Must have made it slightly more confusing for the players. Would imagine Sky would have preferred more of a difference too.

Jesus fucking Christ, THIS again? Seriously?

You know what? I'm not going to try and go through the reason why this shirt came to be for the umpteenth time, given that nobody seems to give a fuck about the clubs history prior to whenever they were born anyway.

I'm not going to try telling you lot that it's for ONE fucking season and that the striped kit will be back from next season until the fucking sun goes supernova in 5 billion years time.

I'm not even going to tell you yet again that there are far bigger considerations facing the club at this moment in time.

Nope, I'm just going to remind you that there are four months left for you to look at the kit whether you like it or not. So either deal with it or find a dark fucking corner to cry in about it. Either way, please stop boring me to fucking tears with this whining shite. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's sick to death of this bollocks.

Complete rubbish. The sun doesn't have enough mass to go supernova.

Thank you for your post. After due consideration I have come to the conclusion that I am not affected by condescension, insults and abuse when making up my own mind.

The scoreboard resolutely failed to match reality and still showed the Blades name in red with Coventry in white. A visiting neutral (unlikely) would have found it very confusing.

This times a thousand.

I like the shirt, we all would've loved it as an away shirt but it's a one-off as Tyler as had to point out more than once.
Now IF the commercial side of SUFC have any nous they should make sure we have an absolute stormer of a home shirt next season....proper red & white stripes, stripes in similar size/width to the ones worn by our filthy but universally huge neighbours.

Did we wear all white against Fulham at BDTBL in the FA Cup 4th round replay in 1967? If so, then Fulham must have been all red. We won 3-1 with Bill Punton getting two goals

This.

Yeh it probably shouldn't be our home shirt but regardless, it's probably the best shirt we've ever had.
How can it be our best shirt when it's not a United shirt? We got rid of the ridiculous diamonds for the proper shirt mid season when Kendall arrived. We should bin this one now.

There were strange FA Cup rules about kits in the 1960s. We borrowed Barnsley kits for the FA Cup match against Lincoln in 1961 and wore all tangerine at Newcastle in the 6th round. In 1967 we wore all white at Fulham who wore either all blue or all red (MOTD were filmed in black & white then) and I am sure I saw a photo of Bill Punton wearing all white celebrating his goal in the replay

Silent, we certainly wore all white at Fulham, who strangely wore all red, I went to the replay but can't for the life of me, recall the kits worn, though you may well be correct.
We certainly wore tangerine at Lincoln in around 1964 in the FA Cup.

There was one occasion when our opponents wore our away kit (early 80's?). Can anyone remember that one?

From wikipedia.

"Until 1989-9, FA Cup competition rules stated: "Where the colours of the two competing clubs are similar, both clubs must change unless alternative arrangements are mutually agreed by the competing clubs".[22] Clubs sometimes needed to find makeshift third kits for their players. Many FA Cup finals were played under these rules, the last being the 1982 Final and replay. In European competition, the 1968 European Cup Final was played under similar rules.

The old FA Cup rules, with almost identical wording, are still used in semis and finals by many county and district football associations in England"

Ah I see. I wondered why we always played in our away shirt lol

No we didn't. We wore that shirt all season.

That is the worst home shirt of all time. This years is the second worst.

Went to the Library today to look at the Morning Telegraph report of the twice postponed FA Cup replay against Fulham in 1967. There were three photos of the match and we were wearing an all white kit. Unfortunately the report didnt say what colour kit Fulham were wearing but looking at the Fulham players on the photo, the kit looks the same as you see in the youtube footage of the match at Craven Cottage so I would expect that the kit was all red as you said they were at Craven Cottage
