Hammond, Coutts and Basham together aren't the answer.

Unfortunately at least one of the answers isn't yet at the club.

I would persevere with Hammond at the moment though.

Good player to have now he's match fit. Used his "streetwise" knowledge if you will well today. Compared to a month ago I would be happy if he was to sign in January (Sky indicated this could be a possibility). Basham isn't good enough, both him and Baxter need replacing if were going to improve. Midfield is too pedestrian, not enough movement, creativity and control. Woolford will be gone I think after January, or in the summer I doubt we'll see him again unless there's an emergency or a plethora of injuries.

Now that would be telling

There's something I like about Hammond, if I'm honest (despite his lack of pace & agility).

I especially like the way he flings himself in front of shots. Says something about his desire & commitment.

He's getting more & more influential, game by game.

Then it's a YES from me.

I think he is finding his feet and hope he stays for at least this season

Bring in another midfielder who brings energy Hammond would be an asset.
Scougall is not the answer

He isn't good enough - simple as.
Neither is Basham, neither is Coutts - but it is all we have at present.

But hey - we have stopped conceding goals in numbers.

We should have been streets away from the dingles and got suckered - that's football.

Personally, I would send Hammond back to Leicester at the end of December - he will just want too much money to sign permanently - just isn't worth it.

Once again Coventry had a couple of tricky CM players.

No we shouldn't sign those two, but what it says, is there are players out there..................go and find them.

Get someone with a bit more mobility and energy next to him, like Morsy and I think he would really show his worth.

I don't think you can judge without knowing the salary.

As with Brayford, you have to consider the other positions you can't strengthen because of them.

Putting money aside, I'm with Pete above.

Joined by an entirely defensive midfield, no.

Partnered with a midfielder with an ounce of creativity, maybe.
Following on from that Pete, i know we didn't concede too many chances but is that the least chances we've ever had at home? It can't be far off.

We had one didn't we?
I'm sure under Clough I remember zero!

Clear to see by the ratings that people just don't like Hammond. This despite him doing exactly what we brought him in for, for 90mins today.

Thought he broke it up well. Little niggly fouls that helped us through.

Today we had to win ugly and he played a massive part in that.

We had 7 shots, 4 on target. Sure we had none on target in one game under Clough.

I'm struggling to remember Pete but tbh I couldn't give two flying fucks either way as long as we win. Playing with passion is good to see and seeing good football is an added bonus but not a necessity at the minute.

Forget the money. If he's the answer, he's the answer. If we start putting winners in the side we might start winning some games. From what I've seen and heard this guy is a winner

Did we? I haven't looked at the stats but I can't remember their keeper pulling one save off, but as I say above, I couldn't give two flying fucks either way, I was just interested and Petes' post made me think a little.

I like him. I think he's started very poorly but is gradually improving and looking like an asset.

I, like many, question if he's worth the money. That's another story.

It's forgetting the money that has led us to the worst spell in the club's history.

We have to stop forgetting the money and come up with a structured plan. .
