No...season ticket holders have paid for *League* games so "attendance" most closely resembles "paying customers".

With ~7000 turning up yesterday did we in fact have *more* people buying tickets for that game than we usually get for League games ;-)

Yes, with 14 000 ST holders a 7000 crowd is more than a 20000 crowd.

Clearly we can all see we're gradually heading in the right direction - or maybe our rate of process in the wrong direction is being slowed.

Well they say every village has one ..................................... and I don't mean a post office o_O

Yes he is entitled to his opinion but the opinion that the fans are at fault for shortcomings of this club are outrageous go to post 41 and that about sums the situation up perfectly. Sorry for voicing my concerns I should just sit and not be heard while everybody licks Jim Phipps's cock. Go blades
Thank you

it annoys me that people tar the whole team for our faults
when its some players not being good enoiugh
in the same way there are some fans promoting this that not helping

I have concerns , serious ones , but dont inflict them on all the players week in week out
the attitude of SOME of our fans is as uncaring about the club as they accuse the players
was his point
and to be fair its a good observation

Amazed there were as many as 7000. Personally I am fed up with a 400 mile round trip when the team don't turn up.

UTB

I don't get this at all, it's like saying that a film you know is shit is on at the cinema and then arguing with your mate as to why you didn't see it..

Attendance isn't mandatory, if you serve shit food in a restaurant nobody comes and eats there... Get a grip..

On the whole I think our loyalty is brilliant and who wanted to sit through another game against Oldham, not me anyway..

So a guy goes to the game ,posts positive things about Utd ,and is called a village idiot ,a pig who licks Jim Phipps cock and many other names. Some of you need to have a word with yourselves.
Some who post on here absolutely love Utd having a bad time ,they fucking vanish as soon as we start doing well ,and they are experts on yesterdays game despite doing their shopping or porn hopping or whatever.
I don't mean everyone ,but I thought supporting your club meant supporting through thick and thin ,not just when they are doing well. No doubt they will be back for the next big cup game saying how they never missed a game like the 85,000 who attended the Port Vale game did.
We did actually win yesterday btw for those who don't know and got through to the 3rd round of the cup.

Can you name the players that are not good enough then follow with the fans names that's what WHF is asking for

I went because I'm always living in hope with the Blades. I can't help it. I always think - 'this is the game...'

'This is the game we're going to show a bit more passion, a bit more ability... look like a proper football team.'

I'm happy to say that I left the Lane feeling proud of the defensive display we put in. The shape of the team when Oldham had the ball gave me confidence that Adkins does know what he's doing. We have enough players that can get the goals we need to win games. I'm not saying everything is fine now - far from it (still would love a new keeper and CB) - but at least I know we're capable of putting in a good defensive performance now. Although, Oldham being shit might have contributed.

I still believe we can go up this year.

I'm deluded, I know that.

Clapper out.

well put it like this
Chelsea lost for the 8th time this season
do they care

man city played at stoke with a front 3 that cost 136 million pounds , didnt have a ashot of worth in the game

do they care

these are quality players we can only dream of
weve got a mix of medium talent and sheer grafters

to say they dont care , its too bland a comment, doesnt solve a thing
weve got problems but not caring is not one of them

There is a theory that those who have the audacity to critisize there team absolutely love it when things go wrong. What bollocks. The vast majority who voice there concerns are frustrated at what is happening to the club they love. They can see where things aren't right in general yet little is done about it. Yes I went yesterday, yes we won but for the vast majority of the time it was mindnumbingly boring and we look nothing like a promotion winning side. It is so deflating that our great club is in such mess right now. Yet some believe it's down to the fans

They were contractually obliged.

They turned up and ground out a pretty miserable 1-0/2-0 win, a lot of the time with ten men.

Barnsley was not much different.

They've come back from behind a number of times this season.

Things are going wrong, but players not trying is nothing to do with it.

You said not being good enough, not that they don't care. Don't move the goalposts

There were 4k less than the Worcester game. Worcester brought 1.3k more.

Worcester game was free to season ticket holders so net 2.7k chose not to come.

I want a list of those 2700 on my desk tomorrow morning.

You wil be charged for the pie you didn't buy and you will be banned from the 3rd round game if we draw a PL team at home.

That is all.

You said not being good enough, not that they don't care. Don't move the goalposts
I answered it , we have players of this level , they make errors , which is why they are in this division
its not that they dont care , some are inexperienced of coping with it , some lack the quality
you get what you pay for
even our shining light Brayford wouldnt get in a prem team reguarly
yet we expect perfection from players we have that have a third of his quality

we have to have all our better players fully fit to compete, a point we still havent reached yet

Do you honestly believe that? I thought I was a glass half full man, but I'm getting to the stage where the reality of our last 5-6 years is becoming more and more apparent and it's clear we are NOT heading in the right direction. Do you just blindly keep repeating that thought and hope that eventually it'll be true?

I am crazy, I know that, but I do see small steps forward. The first of which was employing a manager with a decent CV, given the division we are in. But I am terribly frustrated at the lack of improvement on the pitch. But I have to temper this impatience with the memories of how dire this team played last season with the previous manager and weigh that against the fact that we are a half season into the new reign. In the greater scheme of things, I don't believe the malaise of the last few years can be solved in a few months, no matter how much we want it to be.

We pay above average league one wages. We don't get the results or performances that the money we pay expects. Yet we should still clap them at EVERY opportunity?

Players not putting even half a shift in is the reason we've had to come from behind. Bradford away, Southend at home, we let in 2 goals before we even bothered to play.

A few years ago I was often accused of being a "clapper" due to my defence of managers and the board, but it's been apparent for quite some time now that these players are corrosive to this club, a malignancy which needs to be removed, and a 1-0 FA Cup win against a perennially shite Oldham isn't going to cut it.

Who mentioned that they don't

rooney gets 220,00 pounds a week , he obviously doesnt care then if its just aboput the ammount of money they get paid

how come Vardy is out scoring him , he will only be on 25k to 30 k a week
its only a small detail in a team amongst its peers
what we pay above some league one clubs is negligable in comparison

what we need is our best players all on the pitch at once, fully fit still not got near that

I would suggest quite a few of the players don't care or is there another explanation for being out on the lash when they are due in for training a few hours later, we read in the media about players bashing women about, arguments in nightclubs, players late in for training, drinks spiked, alleged drunken glassing's on jollies to Ireland, not been a good couple of years for club discipline has it. We never hear of players doing a bit of extra training in their own time to improve their heading or technique with their weaker foot oh no that would be too much to ask, i'll be fucked if I spend a penny more than my season ticket on this shower of shit. At least if we draw a Premiership team we can watch real professionals hammer us rather than the likes of minnows Crewe and Shrewsbury

a 1-0 FA Cup win against a perennially shite Oldham isn't going to cut it.

its very negative thinking like that that permeates the club
players are human beings
they feel the vibes drifting off the terraces

any win should at least engender a modicum of joy
but our fans have fine tuned moaning so that a 1-0 win is now unacceptable
the club cant win

lose we moan
draw we moan as much
win 1-0 with 10 men

still moan , not good enough

How are players ever going to gather momentum and belief if a chunk of our fans relay this negativity on a daily basis
you won
so what
a real motivational boost from the fans

Fair question. Random response:

Right now I think superficially things are getting worse, not better.

Backs to the wall defending the last two weeks hasn't filled me with joy, but it has shown commitment.

Coventry could take us apart. We'll see.

But I've seen and heard enough from Adkins to make me think that he can slow it down and turn it around.

It's a big job. We're an oil tanker heading towards the edge of a cliff. Well you know what I mean.

Problems - we need:

A settled side
A settled favoured system
Better players esp central midfield

Also, and this is not much discussed, if at all, I think he set out to outscore opponents, and even in games we have lost (or drawn) we have created plenty eg Bury (or Southend) we haven't finished.

Does this mean we're on Plan B, C, D, ... or Z?

Not having the right players and/or the right system is not great. Sorting it will take time, but Adkins is the man for the job.

That never happens though does it? Inevitably someone is always injured. As for the likes of Rooney and Vardy I'm not interested. I only care about my team. Even with everyone fit WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. If we are then I assume NA won't be using the January window to sign anyone

Fwiw I think it's the systems not the effort. That goes for Bradford, Southend, and any number of other games.

The players are not suited to doing what's been asked of them. Shrewsbury was maybe the final straw.

(And that may have been the one time where they thought it might be easy. At 1-0 up I thought it might be too.)

Given that we can't take control of a game we're now playing like plucky underdogs.

Any other season and I would've been inclined to agree. I was never the negative type, in fact I've been almost delusionally positive up until the last two seasons.

We've had plenty of poor teams over the years, you know that better than I do because you're older, but they always put a shift in. I know the difference between being poor and not giving a shit, and with a couple of notable exceptions none of them do.

My point about Oldham is that the culture among this team is poisonous. Their performance on the pitch and their conduct off it. And this won't be remedied by yesterdays win.

Am I happy we won yesterday? Yes but only in so far as that I'd be less happy if we lost. It doesn't alter our situation as a whole.
