I'd credit their keeper more than I'd say we missed sitters, and their equaliser was a great hit. Long's penalty save was tremendous, but the concession was a ridiculous challenge. Surprised no-one mentioned that aspect.

I also have no idea what he was doing for their first chance.

We should have been out of sight. Sharp and Done missed sitters today. Great save from Long, really made up for the lad, he must be suicidal after our recent run. Overall, no where near good enough tho.

He dropped an even bigger bollock in the first half which they should have scored from ,which is shown. Freeman was shoddy on the goal ,but he shouldn't have been on Mr Adkins.

I didn't go today but Collins looks increasingly out of his depth this season. I actually feel sorry for the fella - thinks he needs to play in the league below.

Apart from those 2 ricks he had a decent game today ,he was certainly hungry for it. Seeing the penalty again Im not sure it wasn't a fair tackle.

Very little complaint from Collins though – think he knew he'd made an error.

Thanks for the highlights:

After the game Adkins talked about "winning the second balls", he mentioned how many headers Collins for example had won but talked about the importance of winning the second balls thereafter.

Looking at their equaliser there were loads of Blades in the box but just the two unmarked Barnsley players waiting there on the edge of the area for the "second ball". Properly coached or captained teams never leave men unmarked right there and thinking back we have conceded other goals similarly. Wasn't the Shrewsbury 2nd goal a rebound to that area? Wasn't the punch out from Long at the previous home game into that area for the first goal conceded?

Listening to the game, Edwards ( who was insufferable throughout) made the valid point that we get everybody back to defend corners and free-kicks and therefore do not take their players away from the danger areas, especially as he says "Done and Sharp can't defend anyway". Good point but with so many back we should defend the edge of the area right in the middle of the pitch FFS.

Looking at the highlights the score could and maybe should have been 3-3. We are way off being able to defend a lead.

Just looked at the equaliser again - have a look at Freeman's positioning when the cross comes over - marking nobody and stood watching.

First ball , second balls the most important balls are the ones our players dont have

The ones that stop them being spineless wankers

Their goal keeper got man of the match from Barnsley sponsors. Says a lot really.

In fairness to United there were a number of clear cut chances in that game and most were ours so we did something right in the game.

The problem is when you put no pressure on the ball, drop everyone back to defend the cross and then repeat your mistake by not following the second ball out.

Get some new centre halves quick, the ones we have can't defend and are clumsy. Young George seems to be building some confidence now (he has to! He has no cover!). If we can out two strong, well organised central defenders in front of him we might start to improve. Should be top
Priority in January.

We can get better central defenders in cut out the sort of errors you see from Collins in those highlights, but we're still not going to solve the issue of people ball-watching as someone smashes a shot in from outside the box after yet another second ball is uncontested. We need to sort both issues.

I have to agree.

He his much slower than he was when he played alongside Maguire. Basham or whoever plays alongside him has to help him out alot defensively.

I don't doubt his passion for the game or the club but he is just too slow for this league. As a pro he needs to accept its time to move on and drop down.

Your point would bring me on nicely to the midfield players. Don't even get me started on them.....

Collins clearly got a foot to the ball and knocked it out for a corner, it should have never been a penalty, although it doesn't matter now either way.

I thought so as well the first time I watched it. As I watched it again I saw that Hammill was the one who got his foot on the ball. Definite penalty and good decision by the referee.

59 seconds in, and slow motion is available:

It's a nailed on penalty. he takes his legs. It's also the first time I've not seen Collins complain or try and blame someone else.

I have just watched it another 10 times and i still think Collins gets his foot on the ball, my eyes must be decieving me. I do take the point that Collins doesn't complain about the incident but a couple of the other players point to the ball and maybe Collins thinks he's given a corner away and that's why he doesn't complain at first, he then ultimately resigns himself to the decision. Or this could all be bullshit:D

It's misleading but if you pause it/slow it down, their striker gets a touch just before Collins who takes the back of his calf out with his big stupid foot.

Cheers for that. That's cleared it up for me, it's the first time i've seen that slow mo as i couldn't see it on your last clip Bergs. A great decision by the ref then as i'd have sent the twat off for diving:D

I can't tell from the highlights and I wasn't there - was the equaliser from open play or did it result from a free kick that we conceded?

I were a pro being regularly picked, the last thing on my mind would be thinking about dropping down a league.
