I hope the club have plans in place for next season when the emergency loan window closes,

The last few seasons (or longer!) we seemed to have used this as fallback option after the transfer window (I.e Don't worry that we've missed out on all our major targets, the loan window opens soon).

Do you think we'll have to change the way we do business?
We seem to *try* to do a lot of our business very late on, are we going to have to start doing business earlier?

Hope we've got cast iron plans in place.

Is anything cast iron with our board though? Even the board? Could well be no Prince next season, no Jim and 'Russell Slade's Red and White Army'.

We have not got much of a choice but change the way we do business. Forget relying on a loan player mid October.

Hopefully next season it will mean slightly less PR spin with regards to signings.

A bunch of it depends on how much of the deadwood gets cleared out in the JTW and when contracts expire. If Adkins is able to shift a few on (not that we'd get anything in other than saving on wages), and not retain too much of the bloated squad, then we're probably going to have to make some permanent signings. That'll be different to this year, when Adkins is taking forever to do what really should have been done this summer (or, for that matter, before Adkins even got here), i.e. working out who's crap and where we need to improve, and not wanting to cut players loose before then

We have to be ready at the start of the season.

The only time I can remember us being ready in recent years was the last promotion season when a settled team won most (Cant remember exactly) of its opening 10 games and built an invaluable points cushion to see us through when the going got tough later in the season.

Lately we always seem to go in to seasons with what appear to be wishy-washy plans to be in touch at Christmas and then invest / make a charge / re-employ a jailed striker etc.

The last 2 seasons were the worst of the lot. The defence selected for both Bristol and Gillingham were a joke.

Definitely agree with this. The last few seasons we've gone into several games not having anywhere near the kind of squad we should.

We don't know and it's bloody November!

Our plans for the JTW are to try hard to bring in the right players that we need, unfortunately miss out on all bar one mediocre one, look to the loan window, and be ready for the Summer where we can really take advantage.

Our plans for the Summer are to not panic, know that most business takes place near the end of the window, make sure we select the right few players, be a little disappointed to miss out on them, but not panic because there's the loan window and JTW soon.

But - but - but don't we always wait till the end to see who's left and desperate ?

It's traditional !!!!!

Yeah let's buy 16 players next summer like the pigs - just look where that got them! ...oh hang on a mo o_O

Think we need a massive (sorry) clear out similar to what they did Pete and please do it early SUFC.

Has anyone ever thought normal nige tried to clear out the squad? ? But no one wants the bags of shit Mr cloughs idiot son wasted all the money on  nuff said !! rant over

Why all these pathetic posts we all can see things are not going well at present give Adkins a bit of time his cv surely merits that much.
Giving all players a chance was always going to make things difficult ,but he couldn't do it any other way to retain credibility amongst
The big squad we have. He,s used 28 players so far after 16 games (that could be a record for us after 16 games?) hopefully he will have
Marked a few cards and a few will be on there way but getting clubs to take them won't be easy.
As for the emergency window ::with Adkins coming in when he did the emergency window does give him a chance of plugging a few gaps
he may have found , getting the one,s he wants is proving difficult.Next season with no emergency window will make life difficult for teams with small budgets ,they use it to supplement there small squads when injuries kick in ,that can't be done under the new rules so they will have to loan players for six months or a full season and unless the parent club is willing to pay all or a part of the wages teams will struggle to loan these players ,(cash is king).

What exactly is pathetic about this post?
Unless you just have anger issues and difficulties expressing yourself,

Could well be no Prince next season, no Jim and 'Russell Slade's Red and White Army'.

There's no source for this as far as I can tell apart from one poster's gut instinct on BM

Plans will be thought out once the window opens. Until then, sit tight, onwards and upwards, we move on, UTB, United Together and all the other shit Phipps comes out with.

Ive heard they select who's going and who's staying with a big game of blind-mans-bluff at the players Christmas party that's how we've ended up with the current bunch!

To be fair the club did a lot of early business in summer 2014. It was just the wrong business. We brought in McNulty, JCR, Wallace, Basham, Butler and McGahey quite early one. Alcock and Higdon were also added to the ranks before the season started. We added McEveley, Turner, Adams and K. Wallace later.

Unfortunately, most of them are not good enough to get in our team or in Wallace’s case not fit enough. If we’d kept Maguire, signed Coady and Brayford in the summer, we could have probably got away with signing just JCR and McNulty and would have had a really good chance of promotion (although someone like COG would have improved us dramatically). It was the complete reversal of the quality over quantity mantra that did the damage. Blackwell did the exact same thing when he was in charge.

Next summer, we go again in terms of the re-build which Adkins couldn’t do properly this season with the size of the squad he inherited. If we get it right, I expect us to be promoted next season. Get it wrong and it’ll be another 2-3 years, another new manager and then we’ll go through the same process again. I hope Turnbull is earning his corn at present identifying the GK, CB, CM, Winger and Target man we will need to sign to really push on next season when we release half of this squad.

I would hope that any signing in January is made with a view to the summer rebuild and not a short term fix (unless we’ve gone on a great run and are right in the autos mix by then in which case there would be some justification).

PS. Does anyone know if youth loans will still be possible? I know “emergency loans” will be a thing of the past (except for keepers) but I believe “youth loans” have more relaxed rules and don’t know if they are also being abolished.

How come anyone who disagrees with you has anger issues? Are you sure you're not Len, really?

Oh look, it's the board police.
You should be pleased as this post doesn't mention any of the rules you listed for everyone else to follow.

I think full or half season loans will still be possible during the windows, I think it's just that you can't sign loans between windows like you can now. Could be wrong.

All bets on Next season's policies are off until we are 100% sure the Prince and his team are still going to be here, those hints that failure to win promotion will mean HRH slinging his hook are still out there.

If we are back with McCabe and son in complete control next season forget about anything but a battle against relegation and administration.

There won't be a battle against administration. If that scenario happens, KM will release all the players who are out of contract and tell the new manager Barry Oddknob (copyright Pommpey) to play the kids. Then, when that fails and we get relegated it will be a good excuse to close the academy and redevelop the site.
