Seven of today's starting eleven were signed from a club in a higher league, who could be seeing their career as being on a downward spiral when joining us. Wouldn't it be better to sign up and coming players in our league and below, who see signing for us as a step up?

I've said this before. The majority of our team seem to be here for the money and know they're never going to play at a higher level.

See with the team today he's going back to a core of small players - Flynn, Harris, Done, Coutts, Sharp, Adams, Baxter. Of the taller/bigger players - Basham, Collins and Hammond, none are imposing.

When I saw Flynn was starting I gipped
Freeman poor but talk about out of the frying pan into the fire.

Yes. It would require quite a bit of initial investment as we'd have to pay out transfer fees but surely it's better than pissing money away year after year on wages for players who've seen their best days.

When I saw that team today I thought it was three or four players off our best team
At most. I give up

In a none nasty way I want to challenge why you think that.

1) Howard - just appears to get worse - time for Long again perhaps
2) Flynn - when has he been a full back
3) Basham - CH? no way - didn't work last year - wins fuck all in the air
4) Collins - part of the problem we are here in this division
5) Harris - 1st game of season - sorry, must be totally unfit for match football
6) Coutts - hmmm - should be a decent player - just totally inconsistent
7) Baxter - no comment - said enough all ready - was he mentioned on the radio today? typical hidden player when the going gets tough
8) Hammond - 13 games (plus 3 for us in 2 year - just not match and physically fit - too old now in this type of division
9) Done - totally out of form since return
10) Billy - poor lad - 3rd time hear, tries hard - shit all around him
11) Adams - inconsistent and suffering double marking as his reputation gets known.

yes you could be right - it could be 3 or 4 short of our best team we have - but that is only average in this crap division.

We are probably worse now than last season - a sad situation.

Fulwood, so you are not really challenging what sheffielder says, that today's team is 3/4 off the best we have ( I agree with him and you do in your last paragraph).

Problems are there, it's solutions which are needed.

I agree. Not sure what the problem is to be fair, as I said j give up

The sad solution is a Charlton type clear out at season end.
We all keep talking about fixing the problem but we try and defend the indefensible.

There comes a time when reality has to hit home and as much as we all want to like players and get autographs and smile at them etc etc - enough is enough.

Question is: have the majority reached that point? Don't think it is far off.

Flynn is fine at full back in theory, but throwing him in there when it was Harris's first game back and Basham was making a rare appearance in defence was odd. With the players in midfield and attack today, in theory there should have been plenty of pace and movement, but it doesn't seem to work. For all the talk of clearouts, those eleven players who started should be good enough to win most games in this division, positive Nigel needs to do some motivation and get a performance out of them.

Flynn wasn't the problem. He was one of our better players if anything, trying his best to provide width where there was none in front of him.

Adkins got it very wrong tactically today. That, or the players just are that shit to carry out a game plan. Done and Sharp hardly in the game at all. Central midfielders playing so deep but never actually doing anything to hurt the opposition...

The solution is , ( as Fulwood says ) , a Charlton esq clear out is required . In the interim , the biggest problem and risk we have got , is that these players do not present the club and drop us in the shit ,with a relegation dog fight.

Adkins like us can only hang in there , but he has a duty to sort this , as he is not clear out of the mire of blame himself.

They are there somewhere surely 1973Blade, just that our blinkered scouts can't root them out. Are we still employing the same scouts as we had under Clough ?.
