Top-class manager (who we all wanted); Saudi game-changing investment; a core of quality players...

And Crewe get their first home win of the season against us.

It's almost predictable now. God knows how it gets turned round.

No, it can't get any worse (although I'm sure people will be pointing to when we went down to the Fourth). No excuses. Adkins, the 'team' and the board need to take a long hard look at themselves after this. (And per-leese don't anybody say 'we're still eighth'...) We're relegation-bound with results like this.

"A core of quality players" is pushing it. Several years later, Ryan Flyn still gets a shirt, which just about says it all.

Glad I stayed home and booked the Indian with the money, off out to get shitfaced....

It's gotta get better soon, up the blades..

Another game where Billy doesn't score, according to live text he didn't even have a shot. Take off all his goals and we still only lose one point. Penalties excluded, his minutes per goal is now up at 285, barely less than Sammon's who offers a lot more in terms of workrate and in other areas. What exactly does he have to do for Adkins to drop him?

Stop sacking managers would be a start. The Clough bloke doesn't appear so shit now. Positive Nigel isn't really a big improvement.

Up to now you're correct, pressure will mount on him if he doesn't pick his game up, again, remember while we were upset with clough, we never chanted him, or weir out.... Is the board that's sacked the last three, not us..

Also, I love it when people exclude penalties. Do they not count as goals?

Beginning to think Poz Nige has lost his touch (maybe his Reading set-back was mortal?). But, like you say, the solution's not in sacking him. We can't go on changing every 5 minutes.

It's just really bleak, with no obvious solution to the malaise we're firmly stuck in.

To be upfront, I'll blame Clough for the entirety of this season. Only when we've had chance to wave goodbye to most of his squad will I start on the next man.

None the less, right now it's time to acknowledge that there's more to blame than the current manager.

I feel fucking miserable.
The board needs a big fucking shake-up, we're sleepwalking to the wrong end of the table!!!!
Adkins is fast becoming like a customer relations/media spokesman for a business that is going up shit creak.

I'm in the camp that penalties should be viewed separately. You don't have to shell out half a million quid a year to find a good penalty taker. Most clubs will have 3 or 4 in their ranks. Finding an out and our goal scorer is much more difficult.

Ridiculous statement. The problem s we never appoint the right man. It's a results business and if they aren't forthcoming the manager has to go. Not hard to see the common denominator in all our failings is McCabe.

The problem is that it costs a vast amount sacking a manager who's on a three year contract (along with his retinue). We sack Adkins, so soon after sacking Clough (& not long after sacking Weir at the star of his three year contract), & we'd be looking next for someone to do it for free.

Personally, I'd rather any money that's sloshing around be spent on players.

Just making sure we stay up this season and then starting again with a complete new squad of players is surely now the only real answer. I don't think I'm being too pessimistic by saying that. I think we will stay up but this season looks like it's certainly going to go down as one of the worst in the clubs history. I just pray that the most important people at the club realise just how bad things are and what needs to be done

I thought Clough deserved a crack at this season due to points in the bank with the cup semis but on reflection I am furious with how Clough wasted a gilt-edged opportunity to go up. All the little t**t had to do was get a couple of proper centre halves and we'd have finished top two. Instead Nigel knew best and insisted nearly all season in playing fill in full backs or midfield players in central defence. The away leg at Swindon was a joke with a defence made up of two right backs and two left backs.

I hope Adkins can turn it round - and that means loan deals for a proper centre halves - but I'm not hopeful.

Thi seems very obvious to me but surely the reason Billy hasn't had a shot is that the midfield have not provided him with an opportunity?

No it isn't. Common factor is we keep firing managers before they actually have the chance to change squads. Or we keep selling their best players and replacing them with shit. I see Murphy scored again today for top if the table Brighton. Harry M played for Hull the other night and Nick Blackman score's for fun this season. I'm not saying Clough was a great manager but starting all over again really shouldn't have happened.

Crisis? What crisis?

Did we lose at Crewe under Clough and go on an unbelievable run could it be the wake up call these players need.

Trying to be positive not sure I believe it mind:(

Adkins can no more motivate the shit we turn out than Clough could. Not a great sign.
