Good report DB ,bit harsh on Sharp and kind on Adkins I think but otherwise spot on ,especially Collins ,maybe people will see why Clough couldn't have him or Butler ,they are both fucking terrible. Regarding Collins giving out bollockings ,it needs dealing with ,the worse one today was aimed at Done after Collins had sent a simple pass straight into touch ,Done was just bemused by it ,I would have been tempted to lamp the useless twat.

You want Palace or Charlton for fans that have an inflated opinion of their club.

We know we are a shit, unloved neighbourhood club from just off the Old Kent Road.

And that's the way we like it. It's quite funny too - as Palace & Charlton fans gave up trying to belittle us years ago...as they know no-one is more sure of Millwall's place in the football world than Millwall fans themselves! Palace fans even know that we really couldn't care less about the PL & their little adventure. While Charlton fans are dying of jealously.

So, you were right to read the bit about having good refs sarcastically...but not the bit about Sheffield United being bigger & more popular...that was genuine! Perhaps you've lived next door to those boorish wankers Sheffield 'we are massive' Wednesday too long!

Doesn't seem more than a few weeks ago people on here were wanting Collins back,

is he worse than any of the others? Again people were bigging up Edgar, now its hes not

the answer, I hope we can get a fit Kennedy in and on a run he seems our best centre half

at the club at the moment, I reckon Edgar will be fit for next week and will partner Collins

has to get better soon, surely?

Biggest problem for me at the moment is the two planks in the middle of midfield. Too similar and neither good enough on the last two outings. Coutts (bear with me, didn't think I'd say this) in there for the next game.

Also get Done up the top with Sharp.

Yes Ref today was diabolical today, let get out of hand as he just let milwall kick us to bits & get away with it.

But also we were own worst enemy today, we wasted 4 good chances just in that 1st half, trying to walk the ball in & at times it was like the players were almost frightened to have a shot. Then defence regardless of the foul play in the build up shouldve dealt with 2nd alot better. Which is why I couldnt get exited about Hammond because we all knew we needed 2 maybe 3 centre back post Swindon & we've got 1 in on loan

The ref was blatantly favouring your team mate, while booking ours for anything close to similar behaviour. I have no beef with Millwall, or any club really. Yes Wednesday fans set themselves up with the "massive" comments (which the majority of them seem to believe).

Even by League One standards, the ref today was terrible, a disgrace. Someone has said on another thread that he is the same referee who handled the Owls v QPR game midweek? Who (apparently) let QPR off with two blatant fouls (red cards).

The problems with the defence are

1: Howard isn't vocal. When the defence had Maguire it wasn't a problem as he would attack and win everything in the air. Our defence needs organisational help and Howard isn't helping them.

2: Collins is more a 2nd central defender. It worked well where Maguie would take the main responsibility of going for the ball and Collins would sweep up the knock downs. It worked quite well in the early games when he partnered Edgar.

We need a big Harry Maguire/ Chris Morgan type of central defender otherwise we will always be dodgy.

It's a real shame that Fulham had injury problems meaning Danny Burn was forced to play for them and it's just our luck that he's hit great form so Fulham are unlikely to loan him to us now.

To be fair a lot of Wall have said the same re the ref, ie we got away with a few things.

But that makes a nice change for us. We are hardly the FA's pet when it comes to handing out friendly refs...some of the 'you Millwall oiks wont scare me' openly bias refs we've seen down the years bares testament to that. In fact one allowed your mates Wednesday to score, having disallowed a perfectly good goal for us, but without blowing the whistle for a foul or letting our celebrating players know...in a relegation 6 pointer. He told our coach 'you lot have to take some medicine'!!

Anyways, the real worry then, for you lot, is our team had an average age of about 23/24...your players should have noted that this was a soft ref & started kicking our team around. The midfield were all under 24!

Just seen the goals again:

1st- Was a decent header by them IMO
2nd- Excellent work by Che to keep it in, great cross by Freeman and a great finish by Baxter
3rd- Collins done up like a kipper, such a poor centre back has to be moved on. Howard got his position wrong but really couldn't have done much.

First was a fluke off the back of his head. I would say Howard was on the move on the second and just tried to get something on it ,maybe even an OG but Collins and Wallace were more at fault.. Ours summed up to a tee.

He was aye. Seemed strange not to bring him on to me.
That has really pissed me off ,I presumed he had picked up a knock. Baxter Coutts and Hammond behind a 3 from Sammon/Sharp/Adams/JCR/Done with Basham back at cb in place of either of those today would have seen us win. Not impressed with Adkins one bit today.

If basham plays it has to be at centre half, I get pissed off continually hearing how hard he works

and never anything about footballing skills, mind you when does our manager and for that matter

any of our recent managers go on about attitude, commaradarie, workrate, never say die attitude

and the rest, all very commendable but why do you never hear a word about skill, directness,

and ability.

Doyle did what Basham does in midfield much better.

I think Baxter has to start, alongside Hammond, Basham just not doing it in midfield.

within the next month our 1st choice back 4 should be available. ie Brayford Harris Edgar Kennedy. The focus should be on replacing Basham and getting a decent winger. As for Che Adams he has to stop falling to the floor and trying to play the victim. He has strength and power but is always looking to go to ground. I thought he inexperience told today and I would have took off him rather than JCR

The shape looked better when we had Basham Hammond and Baxter in front of them. Not great, but better.

A midfield three of;

Hammond Coutts
Baxter

Is the way to go, surely?

1st - McGahey seems to lose focus on the man he's marking, neither does he jump to get to the ball. The guy who scores is quite lucky though.

3rd - I would have liked to see a bit more of what happens before this situation, but in general I don't like McGahey breaking out of his normal central position. Although he's better in the air than Freeman and has probably been told to challenge Morison in the air, I think it's better to let Freeman try, and let McGahey sweep up if Morison does win it. As it happens Morison beats McGahey as well, which forces Collins to do what he's most uncomfortable with - defending with a player running at him.

I think the finish would have missed the goal if Howard hadn't kicked it in.

* Advice to McGahey - Leave Morison to Freeman. Flicks near the sideline are rarely very dangerous if you're in the right position to pick it up.

Skip to 0:26 for highlights:

yeah, the last one should have been credited as an OG, both live and on TV it was going at least three yards wide were it not for howard's intervention

My biggest issue with Howard is that when he has the ball in his hands, he doesnt move quickly in the box and release it. My 2nd biggest issue with him is that his kicking is usually overhit

Er, he set JCR off on that run that went the length of the pitch with quick distribution?

I'd be concerned that we'd be too static, both from an defensive and offensive point of view.

Indeed. He shouldn't have stepped across unless he knows he's winning the ball. One header lost and we're outnumbered and outflanked. And ultimately beaten.
