The other was more recent, when we lost 4-0 at Stevenage the couple of years ago. We left when the 4th went in, it was only 70 or so minutes in. A lot of people left at 3-0 so in hindsight I think we did quite well to stay and see that Spanish forward get his hat trick for them..

Yep, sodded off after 3 - 0, was on the Bus back towards Wetherspoons near the Station when the fourth went in ...... :)

fuck em

I admit it, I leave early every game with 5 mins to go. I do it to get a pint in the sheaf before the massive rush. They usually have two staff on and hundreds of people waiting at the bar to get served if you get in after final whistle. It is part of my match day enjoyment, having a couple after the game. I don't go for a pint before the game unlike some that do and then are up and down for a piss every 5 mins. They are more annoying than anyone.
I don't disturb anyone when I go early so it doesn't really matter as I sit on the Westfield stand with the other three people. I like having the banter with the away fans.

Have to say it's one of my bug bears. Granted the 1st half performance wasn't great on Tuesday night but they had a decent 2nd half and won the game. To see literally thousands of people leaving from 80mins on was frankly appalling. I thought the least the players deserved was a decent reception. Everyone's on their backs in the first half, they up the performance and they get a load of people doing one leaving them to half empty stands like we've lost the game at the end. Actually felt embarrassed by the end. Think the players deserve better than that.

The people who leave early and also don't boo and also like our home kit are beyond help.

Do you do the stopping half way along the row because we are attacking? My numpties came in just as Done was taking the free kick that lead to Adams first minutes goal and stopped moving along the row to watch ffs. Row behind were going mental cause row in front had to stand up to let the late comers in.
On the very rare occasion in 56 years I arrive late I wait until a break in play to move to my seat. When we played Huddersfield at Wembley we got caught in motorway closure and arrived at the ground 5 mins before halftime so we watch last few minutes of first half down below on tv and only went to our seats for the second half.
You are a gentleman my friend

Very, very rarely do I leave early, but I did Tuesday, with one minute and time added on to go. Am I a very small Blade :( ?

Only ever left a game, under protest, when my dad insisted we had to leave "right now" or we were "going to miss the last train home".

It was fine, because it was just a meaningless game. Just a meaningless, FA Cup quarter final replay about to go to penalties, which we were about to win in an amazing moment. Just the only game I've been to where a penalty shootout happened where we actually won.

Just that.

I have never left early from any other United game. And I have never forgiven my dad.

I reckon it must have been the game on 14/12/01 when we drew 1-1 (Peschisolido) as that is the only one we have played near Xmas recently. It was after Fjortoft played for both us and Barnsley.

Edit: Mea Culpa. There was also the 0-1 defeat on 21/12/96, before Fjortoft joined us. More likely that :)

That was the one, and a 1-0 away win at Palace (or maybe Wimbledon?) a couple of days earlier. I think, from memory, the win at Palace took us top of the league! (Very briefly)

We won at Palace 1-0 on 17/12/96. Walker scored. That took us to second. The Barnsley game was an early kick off and had we won that, it would have taken us top.

Left the Swindon playoff game after they scored in injury time, other than that I can't recall any. At least when I'm actually at a game, turned off the TV at 3-0 in the second leg and went to the pub instead

I leave early when it's clear we've lost or we're playing atrocious football. Why should I give a shit if the players don't? What's the point in being somewhere you're hating when you don't have to be? If I stay at the game, all i'll do is shout from my seat and that rarely achieves anything bar pissing off those around me.

Only ever left twice in 17 years

First time I left 5 mins early v Sunderland in 98/99 when we lost 4-0 (I'm not sure I should count that one though as I was only 9 and just followed my dad out!)

Second and last time was 2009/10 v Cardiff when we lost 4-3. Left on around 85 mins after Whittingham scored his 3rd and their 4th to make it 4-2. Missed our 3rd in injury time and I think we also had what would have been an equaliser disallowed in the last seconds.

I never leave early because I'm never particularly in a rush to go home. I guess my life is much less interesting than those who feel the need to get home fifteen minutes before me. I often wonder what they do with those extra fifteen minutes.

On the rare occasion we have been two or more down at home I have left around injury time going up on the board but otherwise I stick it out

Can't understand people leaving when there is a goal in it or when we are winning

I do sometimes regardless of game and score at the time. I sacrifice time with my young boys most weekend and try to make the effort to get back as early as possible to see them and relieve the very understanding Mrs of baby duties. Usually around the 85min mark but leaving 5mins early will save 20mins of sitting in traffic. I would never slag another fan off for leaving early, each to their own. Some fans though I would like to leave after 5mins when I hear them boo or slag the team after the first misplaced pass or pass backwards.

I find the number of people leaving early these days totally cringeworthy. It was much more noteworthy than the booing, last Tuesday.

UTB

I personally think the booing in the first half has a more negative affect on the team. Sometimes you can see the fear in the players knowing the fans will get on their case after a sloppy pass resulting in us taking the safe option of a backwards pass

stay to the bitter end myself, but what really fucks me off is those cunts that turn up at approx 3.15 yes 3.15 and then disturb every other fucker 10 minutes later because they want a piss then something to eat and then they fuck off 10 minutes before the end, where i sit near the away end (john st stand) we seem to have got a set of twats that turn up and sit in the season ticket holders seats, now before anyone tells me they wont know that they are ST seats, how fuckin difficult is to read whats on the ticket stub. fuckin fuck wits  rant over

totally agree!! On the kop against Donny the other week we had just gone 2-1 up and it was a full 9 minutes before half time and a load (not a few a fucking load) of cunts trooped out, disturbing and distracting us who have paid out to watch a game of fucking football. Most looking down at their phones not even vaguely bothered about what is happening on the pitch. Set of total twats.
