Just had a listen back to the post match interview from our new signing and he appeared to say the right things.

He said the move has taken a while but he is glad to leave Leicester as all he wants to do is play football, he didn't have that opportunity at his parent club therefore he felt it was the right time from the move.

He then moved on to the textbook new signing line of "This is a very big club"...

The way he addresses the move though and how he is aiming to help this club get promoted, this sounds like a player who has something lined up beyond the 92 day emergency loan. Maybe I am reading into it wrong but to me it sounds like he is gearing up for a promotion push and at least the rest of the season with us now.

The interview then moves on to his time at Southampton and his successes down there before being asked what is required to get promoted from this league.

Hammond states that it is important to kick on and and gather some momentum as this is hugely important. He say's although it is said quite a bit, it is massively important to take every game as it comes and to do everything you can to win that game. He also says that home form is critical and that at a bare minimum we need to be looking to win all of our home games.

He says we are a good team and have the right stuff within the club to get promoted and that he is looking forward to being part of this really. Overall a very good interview from a player that by the sounds of it really wants to play football, he knows the gaffer and stuff and wants to be with us and hopefully help get us promoted. He sounds like he has experience on his side anyway.

I'm really pleased with this signing, really hopeful he'll do the business with us, but I wouldn't read anything into that interview.

You could cut and paste that from just about every signing that's ever been made. Not that you could expect them to say anything else.

I agree. In amongst the platitudes he's very much thinking long term. And he really has the experience and the knowhow. Something the team as a whole are developing.

Let's hope it works out for him and for us.

Understandably seemed to be carrying a few pounds - and a few cobwebs - but watching the game again his contribution was better than I thought. Hopefully he'll top form in three or four weeks.

Still makes me laugh when I remember folks on here discussing Danny Wilson's first interview when he said all the standard stuff. Can't remember who said it but it went something like...

"What do you expect him to say?"

"I'm a fucking wank pig"

Nice to hear him saying the right things but he's hardly going to say there are some weaknesses in the team he's spotted already and it's a fallen club.
He was just about to come on to that, but it was edited out at the end:
"...as soon as I knew he (Adkins) was interested, I wanted to come and I'm glad I'm (*ding*dang*dong*)"

I always roll my eyes when I hear an interviewer asks a player a question like "Are you all still behind the manager?". It's not as if they are going to turn round and say "to be honest we are just waiting for him to be sacked because he hasn't got a clue what he's doing"

It's just lazy journalism asking those sort of questions
