Because I'm sure you as well as I know the problem, and going on and on about it doesn't help anyone. We can't do anything as fans, I don't want anyone out at board or management level so it's kicking and screaming for the sake of it. I'm glad I didn't go to the match, can't say I missed not going.
First things first, Adkins must shoulder some blame. Scougall isn't good enough to be playing every week, and he should have come off for Sammon - not our biggest threat in Done - unless an injury occurred. But I don't blame him much else, he can only play with the cards he's dealt.
I can't help but think apathy has set in from top to bottom. The powers that be don't really seem to care that we have an embarrassing team, it's like an internal transfer embargo. If they don't care, why should we? Why should we keep plowing our hard earned money into watching the worst Sheffield United side I've seen in my lifetime? Do they deserve the support? Do the board deserve the gate receipts? What's it going to take to make the board do the needful and sign the players we need to get promoted?
Looking forward to another performance full of huff n puff, the opposition having more possession, chances, and maybe us sneaking a win. Unless we strengthen which they seem in no rush to do - that will continue. We can't win a midfield battle, and we're playing a side which has just put 5 past the league leaders. I'm not sure we'll win tomorrow, and when we're Sheffield United, 20,000 a week (STILL!) at home to Fleetwood, that hurts.
This year was set up for us to take the bull by the horns, it couldn't have been more perfect. 3 relegated teams in turmoil, the 3 best sides in the league gone, and Adkins appointed. We've still managed to make a mess of it. Wigan have got their act together and are coming like a train, Coventry have done likewise, and Gillingham, Bury etc show no signs of letting up.
Selling your best player year on year isn't a recipe for success, that much is for certain.
Depressing times.
