Surely you mean Maguire, Phil? I remember that goal well - my grannie could have put in a better defensive job. Rob Jones hasn't played for us, but was a colossus in his playing career with Wendy and Donny - exactly the kind of player we're crying out for.

Adkins. Discarded by Southampton and Reading and out of work for 6 months until United came in for him?

I am sure that on the way to scoring, a ball came in high, Simmo jumped up to try and catch, and Johnson and Madine both jumped at the same time, sandwiched Simmo and he ended up on the deck, then they battered their way through to goal. Simmo was complaining to the ref that he had been fouled.

Ah, cross purposes Phil. I thought you meant that Jones was at fault for the equaliser.

I've had a quick look for it on YouTube. Couldn't find it but stumbled across this - Gangs of Sheffield (not footie-related).

No Jones not at fault Trev, Jones and Madine ran in from opposite directions, to purposely squash Simmo. Like I keep saying, as much as it pains me, that SWFC side were built to get out of League 1

I don't entirely disagree with you but I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and look at this another way:-

We really do not have the strongest team on paper.

Howard - Experienced League 1 keeper who has been first choice for a few seasons at a club chasing promotion every year.

McEveley - experienced versatile squad player who has played most of his career at championship level.

Collins - experienced centre half with promotions from the championship on his CV

Edgar - Championship centre half with promotion from that league on his CV.

K Wallace - Young prospect. Former England youth international.

Basham - Versatile player wiht Premer League and Championship experience who has commanded a seven figure fee and is now in his prime.

Flynn - Decent League 1 winger well schooled in Liverpool's academy.

Coutts - experienced, highly rated championship player looking to put a bad spell of injury behind him.

Baxter - One of the youngest ever Premier League players. Touted as the next Wayne Rooney. Still young and shows promise and talent.

Scougall - quick, young, energetic midfielder with potential.

Woolford - Been here and done it with Scunny. Has championship experience too.

JCR - Pacey, tricky winger albeit inconsistent but a useful impact sub.

Alcock - your typical average league 1 defender.

Adams - A real prospect with pace, skill and strength. The sky is hte limit for this kid and he can play wide or up front.

.

The perceptions are very subjective and can be looked at positively or negatively. What we need to do is get the best out of this bunch and supplement them where needed.

Are we ever going to get out of the league I am sorry for been all doom and gloom, but are we ever going to get out of this league.
I thought adkins was the man to get us out of this league but even he seems to be struggling. I know it is still only early but the form we are on can anyone see us doing it?
On paper we are by far the best team in the league and think this is the easiest league one for a while and can't see it getting much easier. We have a manager known for getting out of league one but even he is loosing patience with the players.
I know we are still 7th which proves how poor this league is with us winning one in 6 games and still managing to be in 7th.
Think we really need to get our arsed in gear before some one starts running away with this league like Bristol city did. We are still 8 points from the leaders which is a big gap to have so early on in the season.
I know a lot of people will comment on this saying it's still early days and this and that but come on how long do you want to give it before we start saying are we really good enough?

It isn't early days at all and seven points behind the runaway Burton is an absolute disgrace that the players, management and the Board of this fine unbelievably well supported Club should be hanging their heads in shame !!

And I mean no disrespect to Burton by the way, I'm not getting "massivitis", just royally pissed off at yet another underperforming SUFC squad.

Look at the "big" clubs that have been down here in recent years. Wolves, Norwich, Southampton, the Pigs, Leeds, Leicester, Swansea, Forest, Hull.

This season Coventry and Bradford are our closest rivals in terms of size. No one's going to outspend us massively.

We're the biggest club in League One and remain favourites for promotion. We're five points off automatic with eleven games gone. We're not going to win every game. The good ship Promotion is on course. As others say, get a grip.

Regrettably, I must disagree with you and I believe the evidence doesn't support your very positive and "glass half full" argument.

Realistically, given our performances, current squad and lack of commitment in the transfer markets so far; I would say that the "good ship promotion" is blown badly off course, heading for the rocks which are dangerously close, with a significant number of the crew injured or incapable of doing anything about the predicament and the captain of the ship is operating with a blindfold on and one arm tied behind his back !!

I'm a few games away from declaring our automatic promotion push over, as happened early on last season as well.
