Welcome Positive Nigel
Would prefer him in a 3 man midfield rather than wide in a 2 as it reduces any pace, well more pace. Hopefully he is the player we hoped he would be, but I will wait a few more games before giving him a shine.

Can someone please remind me how to properly refer to another poster in a thread ie so their name changes colour and you can click on it and all that.
Did it once but forgot.

I saw enough at Barnsley that when fit he will be an asset at this levelNo. He was complete and utter half-fit. He's a very good footballer.
I realise that's not considered an asset on the land where Nick Montgomery reigned supreme...
Well yes, he's not local so we mustn't get ridiculously carried away, must we?.....
Just ignore him and his clickbait.oh shut up

Type @ and then the first few letters of their name and a list comes up to choose from, i.e.typing @Wil brings up a list of 6 and then I chose William Henry Foulkes
To say that one of the most ridiculed professionals to ever pull on a blades shirt "reigned supreme " is a bit silly really isn't it ?No. He was complete and utter half-fit. He's a very good footballer.

Did you see him today then Pinchy? Absolutely fucking woeful. The bloke can't even run. We were outpaced everywhere, but even by our own plodding standards, he was terrible.No. He was complete and utter half-fit. He's a very good footballer.

and have you seen his last 2 games where he has been about the best player we have had ? On a day when every player has played like a cunt ,do you not think its slightly unfair to single out Coutts in the first defeat he has been involved in ,when many others have presided over shit displays all season ? To say he is simply shite is a ridiculous statement.Did you see him today then Pinchy? Absolutely fucking woeful. The bloke can't even run. It's quite clear that if he ever had it, he's lost it. He is simply fucking shite.
UTB
Apparently he was great against Doncaster last week. It was lost on me. It's clear our standards have become too low.and have you seen his last 2 games where he has been about the best player we have had ? We still have many poor players from last season and Coutts is one of them he was poor last season and I see no change at any position, so NO I don't think he is the the answer we need new blood!Hello all, This is my first post on s24 su I have been reading the site for a while now but I have only just created an account. I am a season ticket holder at the lane.
I was just wondering what everyone's very on Paul coutts was?
Personally I think he could be what we are missing in the midfield I can only see him as a center mid and not a winger.
I think he can play a very good ball and think he just needs time to settle back in and get back into full fitness and think he could provide the through balls we are lacking. I think him and baxter could run midfield. Personally I would go for them 2 running midfield and drop basham back to CB to replace Collins because I think he is useless but any way that's another subject.

Totally agee - we need new blood, just have to wait until NA realises, don't know how long that will take though?Coutts was ok v Doncaster. Nothing more, nothing less. He made the cross for the second goal and played a few square balls. I did not see this Man of te Match performance many others did. Second half he was poor. They were 6 or 7 better players, namely Wallace, Baxter, Basham, Sharp, Sammon and even maybe Alcock.
He had a decent game v Swindon in the playoffs but has to be said after he and the rest of them had not turned up first 20 mins at Swindon and game was effectively over.
So far he has looked nothing like a player that will be central to a promotion push. He has not shown he can stay fit and for all this 'what a proper footballer he is' his passing and touch in most of the games I saw last season was poor. He does not make many assists at all (last week was a rare one) and does not score goals or even look likely to score. He cannot beat men and for all critiques of Baxter he occasionally does assist/score.
Another in a long line of average Joe's that Clough signed. He badly lacks pace, stamina and strength and his passing for me has not been consistent enough to make up for these deficiencies.
Just my opinion. If he played in a 2 in central midfield we would be even more overrun than we are now as he is out of breath after about 10 minutes. He is clearly not a winger either so not sure where you play him.
Along with the other 10 or so midfielders we have in the squad not good enough.
Just type in Teenage Illiterate Lager Drinker and a list of Bladesmad members will appear....
People are just going to have to realise that the serious injury he had finished him as anything like a top class player, for all people can harp on about him looking good on the ball or having the vision other don't the cold hard fact is the guy can't run!!
sorry but it's true

So how about Basham at CB? Looked good in that role in the 2 games I saw him at CB last season. Not a role that requires too much creativity but solid reliability.I thought when Coutts came on he was excellent again tonight. I'm beginning to think the problem in Midfield is actually Basham, he always seems average in the middle of the park, he can get a foot in, but his distribution is poor and he offers very little going forward.
I think Coutts can play the holding role at this level in the middle of the park, his range of passing, and comfort on the ball is way ahead of anyone else have, and I have seen every game he has played since he has been back and in each one he has been one of our better players.

Agreed. Basham in midfield is lost on me, he's never going to be a battler/ ball winner like Doyle and he's not got the vision or the calmness on the ball to be a play maker.I thought when Coutts came on he was excellent again tonight.
