Is it time for loans now rather than later?

We are lead to believe that we have loan players ready to join us when the loans can take us up to the new transfer window. Do we not need them now instead? If the do have to miss out on a couple of games over Christmas due to the 93 day rule, will we be so much better off then with key players that will have returned from injury such as the beard, Mat Done, Bob Harris etc.

Points have the same value now as in December. If our poor results continue it could lead to a downward spiral, ruining our chances of promotion.
 



It's 'The Blades Way' ... Sell off your best talent and either:

A) don't replace them
B) spend large sums of money in areas not of key importance.
C) struggle to get deals (either perm or loan) in a timely manner.

Or my personal favourite ... Which has led to the situation we are in now:

D) replace with players so far below the standard of the ones left thus lowering the quality of the collective. Despite trotting out the ' we won't sign players that don't improve us card'

The last one is particularly poignant because it means that the collective level of the squad is so low that any signings have to be of a fantastic standard to improve us.

The sad fact is a lot of blades have been conditioned to accept this and so will continue to say things are alright when I fact the rug is literally being pulled from beneath us.
 
Hind sight is a wonderful thing.

Imagine briging in a loan player now.
Going on a great run run in December.
Then losing the player for the 3 Xmas games and we fail to win any game.

The OP will be saying it was terrible planning to bring in a loan player so early.
Typical lack of planning by United to lose loanees over the Xmas period.
 
How can we be replace our best player who has taken a "step up" with someone of greater or equal quality.

If they are at the same level then they will not drop down a division to join us. We need to keep hold of our key players, as long as they can still perform at their high level whilst playing for a club they don't want to be at.

If we sell our key players it is almost always going to reduce the quality of the side when bringing in a replacement.

Like it or not every club is a selling baring Real Madrid and Barcelona. If a bigger club comes in with good money, the player moves on.

Really, there isn't any excuse for losing the last two games. After our recent little run no one would have anticipated losing at home to Bury and Colchester. We shouldn't have needed to bring loan players for those two games.

Disagree, the back has been weak all season.

And the season before.
 
If Burn and Hammond are lined up, I would act to bring Hammond in now and Burn when the 93 days would cover us. We need a list but don't want to be left too short over xmas. Tuesday night was crying out for a Hammond to wrestle control in the middle. Perhaps a spell on the bench would give Baxter a kick up the arse and he might then play the 3 xmas games like his blades career depends on them.

What is done is done and we can't change that.
However, Adkins would now seem to have a clear choice of any loan players missing either two games now or two games at Xmas.

We know for sure that Brayford, Harris, Kennedy, Coutts, J.Wallace, Cuvelier and Done won't be available for the next two games.
We hope and expect that most if not all would be fit and available for the two Xmas games.

Therefore, it's a no-brainer that the squad needs the injection of at least two extra players NOW and worry about Xmas in December!
 



Another option of course is youth loans. They don't have the same 93 days retrictions. With Adams being out for the last 2 games, it would have been good to see us try to get someone like Brandon Barker or similar to add to our wide options.

Think sometimes you have to be careful in the short term loan market as you can send a message to the players that whilst people may think you're under achieving publically this tells them that the manager does think your toss.
