Given that we have more than enough player absences through injuries, Does anyone else have problems keeping track of the actual injury to the player, how the recovery is going and the expected date to be available for selection?

Would it be too much of a problem for the club to publish this type of information on the main website?

I know that we get the odd snippets here and there but only of a sub section of the players.

You would think that the club would have such facilities on the website to keep fans updated, especially after a loss it would give us all a lift if we new some key players were on the road to recovery, kept in the dark springs to mind.

Unfortunately the only thing the O/S offers is brief Youtube clips of interviews - and about 10 seconds of those are taken up by that incredibly annoying introductory music. They don't like doing anything they don't have to, that's for sure.

Excellent OP idea Hodgyman. I think the idea of something viewable for the fans would be very welcoming. As for the opposition checking out our player availability, the club could make it accessible only to specific forums like this.

The opposition know plenty, they're not daft. With the modern day interviews/social media not much gets away, the opposition for the next couple of months will know they won't be facing Matt Done, Bob Harris or John Brayford. Would it hurt too much for the club to give us an update?

They could always just stop updating when said player is under 2 weeks from returning if they're that paranoid.

OP is a decent idea: Why not suggest it to the club?

I think it's very clear that they are listening to the wishes of the fans.

I think it's been suggested before but rejected on the grounds that it would reveal too much information...

although they could quite simply say "James Wallace - Calf Strain - guidelines 2-4 weeks" which would at least give us something to go on and keep the air or mystery so opponents dont know who is going to be playing against them....

Think our opponents would like that information as well derrrrrrrrrrrrrrr;)

It's unclear to me what advantage Colchester will get from knowing that Brayford and Done are out for several weeks.

I don't think the OP was suggesting the club should post formations and line ups :-)

OR we could leave it in the hands of the medical and coaching staff and not concern ourselves unduly about something we have not the slightest control over.

This idea we need to be kept up to date on every last issue is one I find ridiculous at best.

"Adkins goes for shit, should we be worried?"
"Done seen walking without holding his shoulder, will he be in at the week-end?"
"Jim Phipps not on twitter tonight, has he lost interest?"

What ever happened to people having lives and real things to worry about?

If I were the opposition I would be confident James Wallace would not be playing against them.

I don't think the club will do this but we can certainly do it ourselves.
Maybe others can fill in the blanks and we can all keep it updated with information when Adkins does divulge it:-

Brayford - Knee ligaments - Due to start training in October
Harris - Pelvis - Due to start training in October
J.Wallace - "Muscle problem" - Unknown return date. Adkins dismissed fears of a long-term absence
Coutts - Knee - Training with First Team. Needs prolonged training and U21 Games
Cuvelier - ?? - Unknown return date.
Adams - Illness? - Should be fit for Bradford game (Mid-Sept)
Done - Collarbone - Due to start training in October

None, but opponents would be interested if we were broadcasting they were ready to return.

Uh oh – hope this isn't a big set-back...

"On the eve of kick-off the Blades were dealt a blow when skipper Terry Kennedy withdrew during the warm-up and he was replaced by 16-year-old Callum Semple at the heart of the Blades back four."

Having them think they are out then announce the team 1/2 hour before kick off with them playing might disadvantage them?

Brayford and Done tonight?

Ummmmmm

Before every game we should announce that all the squad are fit and raring to go. That would fuck all the opposition's plans up.:)

I notice the Radio Sheffield guy forgot to ask about James Wallace. It seems to have gone very quiet on his calf injury. Will he ever attain full fitness ?
