Is there a lg1 club stronger than us after deadline day?

No... But Ask me again about November when suspesions and injuries usually start to kick in.

On paper, I think Wigan have the strongest squad.

I think ours is similar to Coventry in having a couple that look very good for this level (theirs being the likes of Ricketts and Armstrong) but lacking some depths in certain areas.

What I do think we have though is the best proven manager (I do like Edinborough, Smith, Hill, Cooper and Hasselbaink though).

I don’t think anyone is saying the squad we have can’t go up. I just think people feel let down that we have missed an opportunity to improve our squad and further enhance our chances after having expectations raised with comments from Phipps and Adkins about the Murphy money being reinvested, the last 2 days of the window being key etc.

We’re not behind the scenes to see why it hasn’t happened so people will draw their own conclusions/ guesses. Some are willing to give the club the benefit of the doubt whilst others are more cynical.

I’m disappointed and frustrated that we’ve missed out on our targets and I genuinely don’t know how to feel about the board. They frustrate me at times but they have impressed me at other times like signing Brayford, appointing Adkins etc.

I think a common failing though has been their apparent inability to manage and then live up to expectations.

“Prem in 3 or 5 years” (depending who you listen to)
“Think Liverpool”
“No need to sell” (followed by annual sale of best player)
“We can’t make selling clubs sell” (but buying clubs can make us sell?)
“Money will be reinvested” (followed by failure to bring anyone in before deadline)

All that’s just since the new regime without getting into “Beattie-flu”, “supporters don’t know what to look for in a manager” (from the man who appointed Bryan fucking Robson!) etc.

I think Jim does a lot of good work on social media and it’s a great link between club and supporters but at the same time, we still seem to score a fair few own goals on the PR front.

on paper we should have had our arses kicked at Agincourt and Tobruk ;)
On paper you'd have seen that our tactical positioning and use of archers against the French knights meant English victory was inevitable.

After listening to Adkins on Audioboom, I still think that he's hoping to get in at least one of our primary targets in on loan till January, maybe even both.

Wait and See what the football gods bring us we should have walked it a couple of years ago with 11 points in front but Ched F****d things up for himself and us.

I don't care. All I know that is our squad has shortcomings, and that is all I am bothered about
well thats because we dont spend 400m on players
are there better players than what we have ,,, oh yes
but in our league one opponents teams
23 other clubs do you not see them having any short comings or just us

Aw bless, a stalker! Already.

How cute.

Unless you praise the club 100% in everything they do you will be automatically branded a slasher on here Pete.

Most of them now praising Adkins thought it was "utter madness" to get rid of Clough.. Despite a few of us not blinded by cup runs seeing through the Emperors new clothes long ago with Clough.

Showing our lads "The Wisdom of Geese" before they went out to battle didn't half help too.

Thanks for the heads up, it's certainly a little sensitive in these parts!

Deep down most people must be happier watching Adkins brand of football than the negative tripe Clough could serve up, surely?!

Or perhaps this is a place where people like to offer praise where it is due, whilst being critical where they deem it necessary.

Seems to me that some people just like to constantly praise or constantly criticise depending on whatever best suits their agenda, and enables them to be able to say I told you so.

Never have I seen one person get so upset at another person expressing their disappointment at not signing a centre back.

We have the strongest team in the league, we have the most strength in depth, we have the best manager, we have the most dangerous strike force.

Ours to lose.

The squad is still lacking a couple in the spine but quite honestly with this manager I can't see us falling too far behind anyone.

We could have made a massive step towards promotion with a couple of quality editions with the Murphy money. We didn't and it'll be touch and go now.

It appears to take Brannigan 5 minutes to sell our best players, but 5 months to bring anyone in.
Been the same for the past 50 yrs.
