Higdon

Utter bollox. Higdon has had ample time to prove his worth. He has consistently fallen (way) short of the required standard. And bear in mind this is L1 standard, not ECL !

Let it go fellas.

You've got every right to disagree with what I say but don't call it utter bollox.
You don't rate him and don't think he'll improve, I don't rate him but, based on his record and Adkins' ability to work with players, I think he might. I'm probably wrong but I'm not the one who gets paid to make those judgements. If Adkins plays him, I'll support him, if he gets rid, I won't be bothered.

My sentiments also . Higdon has proved he can score goals previously , but a bit like Stevie May at S6 , its just not worked out . His job is to put the ball in the back of the net , and with looking unfit , sending off , injury , sometimes lack of service , he has never got going . Is league 1 too high for him , dont know.

Adkins will have the measure of him. If he stays - ok . If he goes ok.

We do need another big man up front , and if he stays , i can see him being a impact player off the bench , unless he becomes good overnight , but wouldnt put money on it.

Adkins decision , never mind how many fans bitch about him.

Well I understand all this "give the bloke a chance" bit, but just how long can he and one or two others down there keep on pinching money ?
How long does it take to for those in charge down there to realize what is pretty obvious to every body else on the out side, that after two seasons of pinching money he's not going to make it.
I don't know how much longer he has on his contract but it's time to get rid of him and other dead wood and move on because for me we would have been far better off retaining some one like Doyle on the books than this guy.
And he's not on his own down there either there are others who for various reasons are obviously just in the way..

So you want to get rid of the deadwood sandy but at the same time would have kept players like Doylewood, (shakes head in disbelief).

Can someone actually confirm how many games (not friendlies) he's played in. Both starts and off the bench. I bet it's not as many as people think. Everyone keeps saying how many chances will he get but unless I'm wrong was this not his first start this season in a 2nd string squad against higher league competition than the likes of sharp, sammon, adams etc have played against. So in fact your slating him for not playing well enough but he has only played against higher league opposition. Also at his current starts to games ration he'd play less than 10 games this season. Hardly a fair yardstick to compare against sammon, sharp etc.

Not played that many for us and has been here just over a year

Decent goals per game ratio (league) until we got our hands on him

I saw Higdon play a few times last season, when he wasn't injured, and agree with most of the views on here. That is, he's not mobile enough, looked unfit and didn't win many headers or hold it up, which presumably is what he was brought in for. Having said that he still scored a few, opening day v Bristol Titty, cup game at MK Plastics and he actually made a difference and scored the equaliser v Gills at home.

Nevertheless, I expect he'll be in a group of players that I think Adkins would happily move on if he could. I don't know if the club would want a fee but the thing is, a club out there would need to take him off us. Anyone know how much his wages are and how long is left on his contract? I suspect he will be in the higher bracket of earners at the Lane and would assume his contract will expire at the end of this season.

I think we may see quite an overhaul of the playing squad at the end of this season, regardless of what league we'll be playing in as a number of players contracts will be expiring and it gives Adkins the opportunity to mould the squad in his own way. Something that, with the size of the squad already and the wage bill, he has been restricted in doing so far.

I've only seen Sammon play v Blackpool and can already see he is head and shoulders above Higdon in terms of fitness and ability.

Against Fulham Higdon did win a few headers, showed some good touches and made some ok passes. The problem is that he is still very immobile. A few times teammates tried passes to him, expecting a run, but the pass just looked silly because Higdon stood still. As we were pushed back for a large part of the game and we lacked pace going forward his lack of mobility made him ineffective.

I think his touch, finishing and aerial ability is better than Sammon's, but I think Higdon will only be effective if he's surrounded by lots of quick, fit, skilful and creative players buzzing around him. Maybe he'd then be able to do a Shipperley type role for us. But we're not quite there yet.

Good start to the season ( after the first game obviously ) but some still have to create threads to slag off our own players, sad really I suggest you find a hobby or buy a jigsaw puzzle
You didn't go to Fulham did you?

and you must of had your eyes closed for the whole game

No I didn't so if he didn't play well against championship opposition does that mean we just slag him off, I listened to the whole game and wouldn't say anyone had a great game, plus if we are going to slag off I'd of sacked Baxter for that tackle as that is clearly a player who doesn't want to feature in the next few weeks for whatever reason.

Drug test planned?

After scoring those 2 goals against MK Dons last season in the League Cup he proved to me that he has ability and with the right service can be a serious threat. Give him a chance.

But the rest of them tried, Higdon was the laziest player on that pitch by far and worst. At least the rest tried to do the right thing and play. Even Baxter St least gave something to the game before getting sent off

Can we not pay him off or something? Or get him away on loan?

He is atrocious, fat, slow, and doesn't even have an inch of the passion required to play for this club. The performance yesterday was his worst yet.
Nothing sticks, he can't hold it up, can't jump to head it, doesn't want to move to meet chances - expects everything to come directly to him.

It's a shame that Obika shite wasn't true, as if it was it would've probably meant we'd have the seen the last of this inept, non descript excuse for a footballer.

Flynn and Kennedy were positives, big positives especially seeing TK get nearly 90 minutes. Higdon the one big, big negative. As always.

Don't think any of the Scot's who might want him can afford his wages... :(

Same again, you're not kidding mate! Has it ever been different? Apart from his game in the league cup away at MK and, I suppose by his standards. when he came on in the Semi at home to Spurs. Was nothing special but he wasn't atrocious as usual.

He has nothing. No attributes. The scottish and dutch leagues are either really shit, or we've signed him as he's gone past it. I've not seen a worse striker play for us, including Forte.

Shut up bellend
Sorry didn't realise this forum was being dumbed down for your benefit .............. type Higdon in the search box and you will find seven different threads since May to slag him off without starting a new one. There are no prizes for the number of dumb threads started that I'm aware of, hope that helps shouldn't you be back at school today ?

You talk about things being dumbed down, and going back to school - maybe they should have taught you about punctuation when you went.

I know he's fat & slow but surely he doesn't need 12 months to turn around.
