I was impressed by Sammon,Edgar,Sharp and Woolford when he came on.
Baxter and Scougall had poor games.
I think we need at least 1 good playmaker in the middle of the park and with Done,Flynn,Brayford,Harris etc to come back the squad looks strong really.
There are a few we can hopefully move on and with 2 or 3 good additions we should challenge for the top 2.
I think we do look dangerous when attacking.

We still need another creative player plus another defender, I will feel we have a great chance of promotion if or should I say when we get those two players this week.

1 GK
1 CB

With the players you mention to come back, with some of the fringe players to be moved out, that should do it.

Anybody think we look a bit narrow...Scougs and Che seem to tuck in or start wide and come inside...the Full Backs didn't get forward as often especially 2nd half...I know we set up like that, but when the Full Backs don't get forward there's a lack of width...probably why we only had a couple of corners.Freeman got forward well first half, but I didn't notice him doing it 2nd half...Also noticed when we did get crosses in from the left, there was no one attacking the back stick...2nd half anyway.
I think it's deliberate, but we defend very deep..the Centre Backs don't bring the ball out..it's played to Baxter who tries to set us off from deep...it worked well in pre season, but not sure it was effective...doesn't help when we kept losing possesion, and most players were guilty of that.

We have better height in the team now with Edgar,Collins,Basham and Connor in there,we just need a quality player in the middle of the park in the Brownie mould, play maker and goal scorer.

With the running of the wingers and forwards, I am not sure you can get away with a play maker as such, we really need someone who can marshall the troops and play quick passing (forward) Baxter seemed to like sideways or the opposition and Basham likes finding his CB

My opinion is we need 3 and a keeper if we can improve on Howard.

CB who is an improvement on Collins.
Central midfield organiser who can get about the pitch.
A new winger who is direct like Che on the other flank

I would buy a replacement for Basham in midfield and move him to CB alongside Edgar.
Maybe Flynn will play the RB role getting forward?

Tbh, no idea anymore. I'm not sure what NA's approach and game plan will be over the long term and that's really what dictates what we need.
Best I can do is say a more pacy defender to replace Collins so the defence doesn't feel like it has to sit so deep.

DW liked to play with Willo on the right, who's hardly a flying winger and for 90% of the season, it was effective. I don't know if Adkins wants to do similar or go a bit more gung-ho and have an Adams type either side.
Similarly, haven't seen much of the Wallace/Basham combination yet so not sure if we need another CM. Don't know if Reed can play there yet (as cover for Wallace) or if Coutts will ever be fit (could see him pinging a few balls out wide for wingers to chase).

Then there's Cuvelier, who in a brief cameo showed he could play wide right. Could he be the new Willo? Or will NA be happy with Flynn's reliability (in terms of defensive and off the ball stuff which I think is fairly consistent, I appreciate less so going forwards).

For once, I'm happy to sit back, let Adkins get on with it and hopefully enjoy the ride.

We're in league 1, we need to improve in every area.............

Be patient with Adkins he's sorted the attack out he wasn't rushed just bringing anybody in with the centre back situation I'm sure we were all pleased with what we saw yesterday the same will happen with the midfield.

Thought whilst we weren't troubled too much at the back Edgar and Freeman were the only two that look assured. Jay Mac isn't a left back, positionally all over the place and when they brought on a tricky winger he got shown his arse too many times.

We lacked balance in midfield, Baxter and bash were ok but no idea where Scoogs was supposed to be playing. He really needs to find his form of the season before last or play in the hole behind a central striker.

Adams was excellent at times but still needs to learn to take the better options... Generally to run at defenders. He'll improve with games. Think he's a home player though.

Up front Sammon impressed. He tired a lot though, sharp looked strong but hasn't yet learnt how to play off Sammon.

Nice to see James Wallace, I'd like to see him and Baxter in midfield with basham alongside Edgar.

We desperately need a left back and a right winger

Centre Half, full back, right wing, central midfield. Thankfully we have players coming back in a lot of those positions.

Thing is he is a left back isn't he?

I know he got a lot of grief towards the end of last season, but he was playing out of position so I think it was fair to cut him some slack, but yesterday in his position he really didn't perform at all, and like you said when their young and very lively sub came on he got beaten 3 or 4 times in not very long.

And when he gets beaten he quickly results to pulling and generally fouling in dangerous areas and he got booked in no time.

On one occasion Woolford covered and dealt with it much more calmly than McEveley.

McFadzean floundered. McEveley floundered. We really do need a left back.

Bob is 4 to 6 weeks off playing isn't he?

Although Harris is the best LB we have at the minute i think we need to sign a new 1

theres always room for improvement we are a league one outfit
1 to 11 can all be bettered its just prioritising in which order we replace them
probably 6 will need replacing when we go up to the Championship
all 11 will need replacing for the prem

we need 2 justy now a back four and a central midfield dinamo as first choice or back up

Baxter was playing way too deep for me, Scougall had one good chance, set up by Sammon, but didn't offer much other than that. Adams has a knack of being in the right place, give him two years to stop running into problems and tripping over his own feet occasionally, and he will be awesome. Edgar's presence calmed down the back four. We need a tall, strong, pacey creative midfielder, a big ask, I know.

I thought Morsy was excellent for Chesterfield.

That's the problem I think FB...never mind players coming back in those positions ..NA needs to get them running the other way.:D...coat's on.

We do not need a new left back...

Harris and McEveley are MORE than good enough for a promotion campaign. Don't forget Freeman can do a very accomplished job there too once Brayford is back.

Areas to strengthen, in order of priority:
1 more new CB to challenge for Collins' spot
1 VERY GOOD winger to replace Murphy
1 GK to challenge Howard
1 creative, attacking central midfielder that can carry the ball forward

so just nearly half the team '

Baxter isn't the answer in this agricultural league, he showed again yesterday how ineffective he is. Poor work rate, the occasional "Hollywood ball" but mostly just slow, lightweight and no end product. Baxter and Scougal were by far the weakest links in the team yesterday ad a CM of Basham & Wallace ( if he ever gets fit enough to play 90 mins ) would hold their own against the cage fighting techniques if most L1 opposition midfields. Scougal was a waste of a shirt ......

If Wallace can't get fit ..... then we need a CM playmaker who is big and strong.
UTB & FTP

Any of the following, preferably 3 or more:

GK - Joe Lewis
CB - Connor Goldson
RM - Nathan Byrne
CM - Sam Morsy
ST - Tom Bradshaw

With outgoings to make way obviously.
