does Collins deserve some praise

Murphy? who's he? ;)

If the rumours are true that Clough was looking to off load Murphy and bring through Adams, then that is fine.
Personally, I would have had Adams on the right and Murph on the left - with them switching during a game, but as we all saw yesterday, we have a good deal out of the transfer.

I feel our biggest problem now is how we solve central midfield - we are going to have to be very careful in away games. Perhaps Adkins has us lined up for the diamond approach used at Gillingham - if he does then it needs massive tweaking.

As Bohemian says 400K on Mosey doesn't break the bank, neither would a similar amount on a centre half.

Murphy then looks a good deal as we only need third division players.

We are very close to having a good squad.

Would prefer to have a good team as against good squad - like Brizzle last season and a team that picks itself most weeks.

I liked what I saw in Chezzers midfield - just like my midfield to be busy. For me we need to get Wallace match fit - he's the man and we already have him, but he just seems a bit off the pace.

Doubt Chezzer will sell Morsy for 400K, it could be the difference with them staying up - seems a key player.

Wallace needs to start over 30 games, can he?

Adkins blueprint at the moment is Baxter for 60, Wallace for 30.
Depends who's camp you are in. I have never been in the Baxter camp for centre midfield in a 4 like yesterday. He played deepish and played some balls that my mother could play.
We played too deep and would like to think we could play more of a high line, but to do that you need pace in defence and not so sure about that.
All 3 teams we have played this season have won the midfield battle - all have found space because we play too deep. Perhaps this is something Adkins will work on, but we cannot go on like this in midfield. Little Morecambe stuffed us in midfield for 45 minutes and Gills as we all know did the same and scored 4.

CAn Wallace play 30 games - initially we have to see if he can put any run of games together and see how his fitness works out, but as of now the topics on here may move to midfield.

I expect a diamond on Tuesday or something more than a flat 4 in midfield.

Anyone know how far off Coutts is?

I thought he finished last season well but his absence at the start of this season is a puzzle.
I know it's his knee but didn't he finish the last game last season?

I am not sure how true this is, however I believe Coutts won't be at the club much longer as he will be heading to Wales.

Baxter was a striker when we brought him and is now playing deeper than Basham in a midfield 2. I am not sure this will ever work against better teams than Chesterfield (for the most part it didn't work). We need to replace both with 2 work hounds who can cover the pitch and especially the wide areas as, or 1 and hope Basham learns the position or Wallace stays fit. Ideally my targets would be a CB, CM and a winger. At the moment we just seem to be kicking the can down the road and coming up with a new problem

Credit to Collins - stood up big-time with the excellent Edgar under what became a bit of a bombardment towards the end (& against all those 1st half corners). Great to see us looking so solid in that area. Howard was class too & more than played his part.

Good performance today against ChezzVagas.

Is it just me or does anyone else think he looks like he's carrying a couple of carrier bags full of shopping when he goes on a run with the ball?

come back in and settled in
and alongside Edgar , given us the experience to keep out the opposition

will drop the odd clanger , but over 46 is a solid round peg in a round hole
Didn't think he looked that accomplished to be honest and I'd be miffed if he wasn't pushed out the team with a new signing.
I don't put much weight for getting upset in a radio interview against playing professional football for my club. He's half decent cover in my opinion and shouldn't be starting if we're looking to go up.

Totally agree. I thought he looked slow - both physically and in speed of thought. That may be nerves after his experiences of last season, and the fact that it was his first full 90 minutes alongside Edgar, but if we aspire to automatic promotion, then in my opinion we need to look for someone better than Collins.
