To everyone saying it's a good deal if we replace him, re-invest the money, etc, etc. Have you only just started following the club this week? It's never happened before and it won't happen now.

An absolute amateur outfit United, I've finished with you.

With the inference that after one meaningful game the new manager isn't getting the best out of him.
Nothing like giving the new manager a chance is there.
Blind loyalty,
You couldn't make it up.
It was entirely tongue in cheek....

You got a season ticket you need to offload?

I always thought he was a bit flat footed, very peculiar awkward looking gait.

I knew a woman once who was peculiar and very awkward.

Certainly one of our better players, but good for 4 games then goes missing for 10. That said I'd rather have him than not but no one player is bigger than our club and I'm going to have a little faith that we bring a few in with the money and hope we ship a few more of the dead wood out. If no one is brought in today I'm taking my chessie tickets back ;)

I am assuming the board have told NA on his arrival that funds raised through player sales he can use to rebuild

I am also assuming that regardless of Murphy's sparkling early season form last season, he's seen Murphy pre-season and at Gillingham and come to the conclusion that £2m is too good to turn down

I am hopeful that before Murphy goes anywhere (if that is the case), his and at least one other replacement are lined up to stop the fans going in to meltdown

Is this anything more than a rumour at this stage? He'd had his bags packed and was on the 1702 train to Leeds earlier on this window.

Could well be a non starter. No official source that's noteworthy has commented.

If it turns out to be true:

1. He' been our best player over the last couple of years. Even at our lowest points he's been the one player who can create something. He's single-handedly won us more points than any other player. Yes, he was tired at the end of last season, which is hardly surprising given how many games he had to play. I can't believe people are criticising his ability. He does go missing but it's more like 1 in 4 games and he still manages to create something out of nothing.

2. £2,2 Million is a good price for him (if we actually get the money in full. He'll be a far better player in the league above than in League 1. If, and given our history of never doing this it's a big if, Adkins can spend it all on the 3-4 players we need, I think it's a good sale. We'd be better placed to go up with those extra players (GK, CB, DM, LW) than struggling with what he have. Adkins has a good history in the transfer market.

Dress it up however you want lads.

Selling our best player and most valuable asset (even tho the price may be "right") would be a hammer blow to our chances of auto promotion.

I do hope this is all just twatterspeak.

It doesn't appear to be on any official media sources( the @skybetchamp account is nothing to do with Sky or Skybet).....but knowing United they may now give Brighton a call to see if they want to buy him

All clubs have to give their managers money to spend if they want to improve. Because one manager at BDTBL was given money and failed doesn't mean the answer is "don't give the next mug any cash".
Unless we no longer have the spare cash

As much as i love Jamie Murphy, he has more 5/10s than he does have 7/10s but he is probably the only player at the club who can create that bit of magic. We have a big squad though and we can play woolford, Flynn, JCR, Diego, potentially Che Adams to name a few. Id like to see us use the £2.2m to bring in Bostwick and the young keeper at Southend who played a blinder in the play off final and kept a club record amount of clean sheets in league 2 last season

Murphy's shirt hung out and ready for tomorrow's home match.

Adkins must have selected him to play tomorrow and if he was going for a long trip down to Brighton then why bother picking him?

Just the way I see it too.

Murphy is a cut above in this division but we have decent cover in midfield and up top.

If he goes (and no one can force him to if he doesn't want to) and we bring in 2 good quality defenders, or 1 and a GK then I will be happy enough.

Yep... and with 35 in the squad we're unlikely to have a great deal available... so we have to trim that to make more money available.

But, if you've chucked 20 million into a project that didn't succeed, and you're not willing to chuck any more in for the next phase of the project then how would you get your 20 million back?

When buying into this game, you have to be prepared to continue the support. You start out by understanding the risks, understanding the possible outcomes and understanding the costs involved over a period of time, and you don't get involved unless you can afford to deal with all that.

One thing is absolutely for sure. Not investing in acquiring the best players for your level is a guaranteed way of chucking away the money permanently. Selling the best players is a way of not investing.

Not worth half that

He is to us, because we need Murphy to stand any chance of promotion. Yes, if the £1M plus was all ploughed back into the team then maybe it would be a good deal, but it won't be so it isn't (especially this close to the end of the window).

It's the old 'Cabaye to PSG' argument. Just because a fee is over the odds doesn't mean it's a good deal for the selling club.

Absolutely agree. Let's hope the rumours are wrong and the Prince understands the situation. What did the board expect would happen when they changed managers?
Maybe someone should send a copy of Simon Jordan's book to him and Phipps? Or perhaps not.

Got a bad feeling tomorrow is going to turn into a nasty atmosphere. We sell Murhy to the disgust of a large group of fans and then lose to Chesterfield after already getting pounded by Gillingham.

Also, I see Chessy have signed Lee Novak on loan who

1. is a massive twat
2. Has a good record against us I think
