I'm clutching at straws but,
Adkins says we were very close to getting someone in before yesterday's game- which I'm guessing would be a centre half.
Kennedy isn't far off,
Howard will probably start Tuesday,
Brayford is supposedly ahead of schedule,
And I'm sure Harris will be back in the gold soon.
 



Adkins already said he had a team for Tuesday night before Saturday's match, so it's anybody's guess what team I've will put out.

I'm expecting both Wallace's to get a game, Higdon and Sparky too, but it's the back 5 that I really want to see mixing up.
The player that we'll be getting early next week seems like the most important signing for a while to me now.

Howard
Brayford New CB New CB Harris

I think Howards poor form towards the end of last season was down to his back problem.

Only downside is I think Adkins sees McEv as one of the main centre backs since making him captain.
 
It won't be Harry

And one player won't make enough of a difference - not one of those back 5 that featured yesterday are good enough (Freeman going forward is but still not convinced as a defender)

Kennedy is no where near fit and even when he gets back he will not be fit enough to start enough games.

Brayford might be ahead of schedule but is still at least two months away from full training - never mind match fitness

He just has to put Basham back in CB to establish some stability at the very least.

Clean slate, my arse. It was fucking obvious that he has nothing to play with as he can't bin off the shite that -ve Nige left him with and has to work with what he's got.

I can see Harry being a regular for Hull. He was on the bench yesterday but he's been injured.

I noticed Adkins said McEv will 'start' the season as captain... Makes me think the captain could change if the right person arrives.

Radio said some of the board were at Gillingham yesterday. I pray to God the saw the defence and CMid for what it is: steaming shit
 
Part of Howard's problem was his back injury and part was the appalling defence in front of him. Early last season he was MoM several times. He is by no means world class but he's a damned sight better than George Long. I still can't get my mind off that goal he conceded at the Lane a bit back (can't remember who it was against, Hartlepool???) when he fannied around with a back pass, got caught in possession and presented the opponents a tap-in. He seemed to go into freefall after that.

I still like Howard, he has his faults be we aren't going to attract a De Gea to the Lane. I don't know much about being a keeper, but what I do know is that it consists of more than just stopping shots. Commanding your box, giving the back four confidence, good distribution,communication, good handling, strength, confidence, assertive when dealing with crosses...
And basically, Long is second to Howard in all those departments in my eyes
 
As much as we all like Kennedy, I think we probably have to start to assume that he is not going to be any sort of long term solution. He just isnt going to be fit enough.

We need two new centre backs (nasty git and faster one) and a goalkeeper, as neither Long or Howard are good enough, and this has been clear for about a year.

Harris - Average LB, not particularly proved himself.
Howard - Shot stopping is well off, get's beaten from 35 yards.
Brayford - Over-priced and probably over-payed, didn't live up to the billing in his performances after we bought him. Has a lot to prove.

He had a go at reconstructing that yesterday with his short goal kick to Freeman, who knocked it back to him. On a different day that could have rebounded into the net.

Mate, you want to talk about proving themselves and injury prone? Your profile picture is Wallace haha.
I'm not Harris's biggest fan but he's a decent player and regardless of what Brayford earns- he's a class above this division. Im starting to really like Freeman too, let's see who Nige has up his sleeve to come in this week.
In Adkins we trust remember.

Indeed, I trust Adkins but that doesn't stop me from suggesting he might have made a few mistakes.

With regards to the avatar, it looks decent doesn't matter who it is :D

Personally I think Wallace is key this season. Devastated that he keeps getting knock backs, and I wasn't been a smart arse about trusting Adkins, I'm one of his biggest fans and I agree he's made some massive errors already in my opinion

I had a brief chat with Phippsy straight after the game; he must have been on the away end for the game, either that or he teleported there at full-time

It's a shame I know the mistakes all too well. I've been pointing out where we need to improve for what seems like an age.

A lot disagreed with me, until yesterday proved exactly what i'd been saying for the past 2 months.
 
It's been obvious our back 4 is a sham for ages but recruitment has been SHODDY again. And we sign 3 forwards??

Why he was appointed captain I will never know, what a terrible decision that was. Captain of the clowns maybe.
