Nigel Adkins has said let's be united, win, lose ore draw. No matter what your opinions are about last season lets try and stick together this year, not over react win or lose, I'll be disappointed if Nigel gets abused on Twitter everyone we lose or drop points. We are an emotional bunch us blades but we're all blades and like Mr Adkins says we can do this together. With our strongest managerial appointment for years we could finally be on the up, it's easier when you've got 12 vs 11 so it's time we all became the twelfth man. Come on blades, let's do this TOGETHER

Good post ScoobBlade, let's hope our fellow Blades take heed. A long season ahead (I know, no longer than usual) and it's guaranteed there'll be ups and downs, but it's how we respond that will show whether we have learnt anything at all from criticising for it's own sake. If there were rules of behaviour on social media they would have been crossed countless times, often confusing spite and bile as substitutes for a decent critique. For as long as I can recall, we have a manager who seems to have collected across the board agreement regarding his appointment. I wonder if we can use this as a platform from which to offer the support that Adkins is asking for?

It's not Adkins. I think we all have some positive belief in the bloke - he has pedigree and can do things well with teams at this level.

But if he has a toolbox full of gash spanners, don't expect him to fix Formula 1 engines. Either the board buy him the best Snap-On stuff, or we won't get away from the start line.

Adkins isn't (and won't be) the problem.

I don't see much in the transfer rumours dept of any motion toward getting rid of last year's luggage.

A mate who had all ready bought his season ticket in the prawn sandwich stand said on the way back from Swindon that if clough was still in charge next season he would be picking his games to attend , how many more blades were thinking the same , he is now buzzing and planning many away trips never mind home games so the appointment has had positives already

Here here!

Hear hear!

Ere ere!

Ear ear!

Take your pick :)

Whilst I applaud you sentiments ScoobBlade can you imagine this board if Mr Adkins included Coutts, Higdon and Alcock in his first league team selection !

I attended more away games than home last season and that's being a season ticket holder too! That's how uninspired I was. I'm looking forward to this season and hope to start enjoying my Saturdays at the lane again.

I want Adkins to do well. I want to be promoted. I will support the team as I always have.

But if I see something to grumble about, or Adkins makes a decision I don't like, I may post about it on this forum, and perhaps be critical of that decision.

And it won't make a damn bit of difference to anything Adkins is doing. Just like nothing critical that was posted on this board last season made a damn bit of difference to anything Clough did, or to how the team performed.

Nice motor car analogy pommps, but if the players are on holiday, I doubt Adkins has even met any of them, so it's a bit early to be worrying about lack of rumours. He has said he wants to have a look at all of them and I believe he knows a decent player when he sees one and I have every confidence he'll move on the ones he has no use for, thought contracts might make that tricky in some cases.

If Clough gets a new gig soon it will be a lot easier to move people on, as given his track record he's likely to want to pick up at least some of the players we have.

Indeed. But I will be - as I expect most Blades fans will also - very disappointed if we are halfway through August and embarking upon this much lauded title-challenge if we are starting games with a tubby Baxter huffing and puffing his way through sixty minutes, our diminutive midfield engine getting stamped flat and makeshift central defenders conceding easy goals past a static Howard, whilst up front, our single striking hope (McNulty - dear god, no) feeds off everything Murphs can't get past his markers.

Yes, they are taking a break, deserved or not as it may be. But he must have videos and the like to start to get his head round the setup. And the board have their own ideas. How tragic would it be to have a new pitch and manager and the old team out there?

I'm not saying don't be critical I'm just asking that we don't over do that criticism by calling him clueless if he makes an odd decision and calling for a change. Realistic and reasoned criticism is fair but we do see some that is just a tad crazy

I think coutts and higdon coached well could do it in this division but if you and some others don't fair enough but if Nigel Adkins thinks they are the best way forward then I want us to remain behind him that's all, he has shown to be a good judge of players so let's trust that judgment whoever he chooses

I think Coutts is a quality player, but has a large majority of the crowd on his back when we play at home !
Higdon too has a lot to offer but again he is much maligned by the home crowd !
What I was trying to say is that there are many 'Blades' that would much rather criticise week after week than acknowledge the good points !
But Good Luck in your crusade !!!

Depends on the result. If he played those three and we won 4-1 there'd be quite a few perplexed posters.

Tbh, I can't see Clough getting a club big enough to afford our players' wages. On the basis he doesn't want to move house so the club has to be in travelling distance he's probably looking at Mansfield or Notts County, or a return to Burton if JFH gets off to a good start and gets nicked by a bigger club.

I think most of our fans were patience personified last season, given the utter crap served up. Where I sit, they couldn't be bothered to boo them off after yet another dire display. More a depressed acceptance and 'see you next time for more of the same'.

Aren't a certain club in S6 looking for a 'top' manager?

If Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourhino stay where they are, then maybe Cloughie will be next on the list?

Come on Mr John West, you know it makes sense!

Well said I agree.

Kin El, another it's the fans fault thread.

We've always been United FFS we just get angry when we can see it's not working. And guess what, the owners agreed so no problem here.

Never said it was the fans fault just said that we can help by pulling together

Fans are never to blame, unless it's the pigs when they were in L1 'cause they got what they deserved. Apparently.

We pulled together last season and got rid of the tosser ;) that's teamwork of the 12th man

I just want to know is a gash spanner a not very good spanner or is it something a gynecologist might have?

This is really all based on last season . With the football served up , which was mainly boring ,dire , disjointed , and decision making bizarre , we were actually placid .

IMO , i thought the fans at the games were very patient and understanding , with a huge amount of tolerance ( both home and away ) .

This works both ways , and as Adkins says , we can do this together.

It takes two to tango , and last season , it appeared to me , it was only the fans who wanted to dance.

This season will be different , if the team pulls with us , and i have no reason to doubt that they will .

All fans are up for it , now let us see what the players are made of . They get paid for playing , we pay to watch them playing -- football.

Based on last seasons performances, he will probably want them for next to nothing, and probably get them. How ironic.

I don't think that's right mate. There were some people, yourself included, who were strongly in favour of a sacking. There was no groundswell of popular opinion in support of that. Concern yes, and I shared that, but most were of the "let's see if he's learned lessons...give him 10/12/until Christmas persuasion." The minority were, as ever, much more outspoken.

There was more fan pressure in Semipro's departure, I think, certainly after Non-Wembley.

I do hope we don't have Shoutbox madness this time round, every time the manager picks a team that doesn't suit the Crew's party line or we dare to lose a game...
