No ...... I agree ! We would never sell our best player whilst he's still under contract ........ unless somebody offers ten bob, a bag of out of date crisps, a couple of shiny buttons and a promise of a friendly match could just swing it maybe ??! o_O

...or the game changing investment.....

Maguire went to a Prem side for decent money, are we really expecting Murphy to go to a mediocre Championship side? Maybe I should take up crochet, it doesn't make any sense any more.

I also believe he is still too inconsistent. Him and the even less consistent Flynn. Two great players on their day and two absolute invisible men on all too many others.

Weren't Bournemouth supposed to be interested before aswell?

Im not saying hes shit but if a bid came in for him of over a million i would say take it and buy someone consistent who doesnt hide up his own arse when tge going gets tough

As for him being our best player i think that says more about the current attributes of the squad that struggled to make any impact in a league where any well organised well drilled fit and enthusiastic team would have been promoted by xmas

A million? What have you been smoking mate

Yeah, sell him to B'mouth. Let Eddie decide he's worth a punt, after all the punters at t'Lane wouldn't know a decent player if they tripped over one.....oh, don't forget to sell him for a song, why do things differently?

In the spirit of pre-season optimism, we'll be joining Brighton next season, unless they pass us on the way down while we're heading for the 'heights' of the Championship. Adkins would be a fool to get rid of Murphy. One more addition up front, someone to act as a foil for the likes of Done, McNulty, or Adams, and Murphy will see the benefits of a new, improved attacking threat. I also think we'd see rumblings of discontent from the supporters if we even considered letting Murphy go. I know, astonishingly, that there are a few who couldn't care less about Murphy, but when serviced he adds threat or if a team doubles up on him it creates space we can exploit, so I'm hoping Adkins will recognise this and see Murphy as a vital cog in United's engine.

Sell him, he is no good to us.

We don't need a winger that can score goals and assist.

Unless either:

a. Adkins has another LM in mind and would prefer to use the proceeds to strengthen the squad elesewhere
b. Brighton offer JM a ridiculous salary
c. The chance to play in the Champ next season is too tempting to turn down
d. The offier is upped significantly.

I really can't see this happening.

We are (apparently) under no pressure to sell, JM is (apparently) settled and has recently signed a long term contract extension and realistically Brighton are going to be lower-mid table at best.

However, I would be more concerned should another nearer Champ side (Leeds, Forest or even Wolves) express an interest.

Utd moved quickly to counter the alleged interest from Wigan - I hope they do the same on this occasion.

If however I am totally wrong, could Done perhaps be used in that role?

We were under no pressure to sell when we SOLD Maquire. Bid in, hes gone.

The difference is in Maguire's case the player wanted to leave. I very much doubt he would have gone if that had not been the case.

I've not heard that JM has expressed any desire to leave - have you?

No. But he will be playing in a higher division for more money, so I expect he will want to leave.

Money talks and Jamie has been here in this league for a while, he may want to at least move up a division on his own. Plus Judge said he was crap anyway so it doesn't matter if he goes.

God youre clarkson like

One of the best in the league on his day, unfortunately has too many games where he is anonymous, also to easily bullied. £1million a fair price, sell.

game changing investment would be telling potential suitors to go forth and multiply

This is the point where the Board have a golden opportunity to change the fans view of SUFC Boards !!

A simple statement of " start talking at 8 million and we will begin listening and discussing Mr Murphy's situation " would put a smile on our faces and a spring in our step !!

I've just heard that Leeds have made a bid... £1.5m
Rosler was at Bramall Lane a lot towards the end of last season so there might be some truth in it.
