Does anyone else feel abit iffy about our manager being active on Twitter?

I'm all for manager and fan interaction and I can't really explain it but it just feels like a bad thing.

Especially seeing the amount of abuse Jim gets on their from the **** section of our fanbase. I can't think of any other manager on Twitter other than Ronald Koeman. That's probably not a good point to make in my argument seeing as he's worked wonders at Southampton.

So I don't know really but I just think it could be a hindrance.

It's funny you say this as i had exactly the same feeling when i found out. I was quite pleasantly surprised at first, but then i just thought that he seems a little vulnerable if we lose any games.

Seems like he mostly puts messages out there on twitter but does not seem to use it to respond to people directly.

Although he will need to watch out when we lose a match.

Most of the players are on it and sometimes it can be quite funny and interesting to see another inside to their life.

Anyway I don't think Mr Adkins will be getting any abuse if he does what is expected

If the manager uses Twitter to communicate with fans much like match day programme notes then I think it's welcome. Adkins appears very skilled at striking the right note in interviews. The written word can be even more effective if done properly.

Treat fans with respect and keep them properly informed and they will respond responsibly.

All new managers have a honeymoon period, it's when things are not running to plan after 9 months or so when things can get tetchy. That's when there's a bigger need to have open communication and retain belief. Explanations and positivity will always achieve more than excuses.

When I found out he was on twitter I literally shat myself. That's how important it is.

It's his choice, he knows what to expect, let him get on with it as long as he remains professional as far as the club is concerned.

It always amazes me when you see these parents and kids on TV complaining about bullying on facebook and twitter, get off the bloody thing then !!

I look forward to him ignoring the desperate attention seekers who plague jim phipps day in day out with infantile questions about everything from.player signings to the club shop opening times

The main problem could be getting abuse from pig fans - altho he can block them afterwards.

Someone posted a transacript of him being interviewed on Talk Sport, where he explains his thoughts on Twitter. At least being on it he can follow all his players and ensure they don't go on benders in Rhyl.

I think his twitter account is probably run by his PA or something like that. Definitely a good thing considering the abuse Jim gets across social media

I agree they read as corporate messages rather than personal ones. Having said that, I would love it if after our first defeat he tweeted something like "we were fucking shit ffs, the bastard blades"

Not a twitter fan but let's be realistic. He's not perfect, no-one is. It's a bit like a marriage, I suppose. When it's going well your partners flaws and character traits can be endearing. When it's not, they can be very annoying.

Were you at BDTBL? ;)

Whatever happened to private lives, telephone boxes and meeting a bird at the fish tank? :(

I have stated that I do not think it is a good idea for Jim Phipps, coaching staff or any of our directors to be on Twitter. This attracts impatient fans and attention seekers who abuse the job they are doing. I also dont think it is a good idea for Jim Phipps to be Facebook friends with Blades fans he has never met

You missed out what colour is the 2018/19 4th kit going to be.
