HAS to start upfront for me, what a talent we have on our hands here he looks like a calm collected completely natural striker ... for me hes good enough to play every game for a league 1 team . start him the majority of the season and he will bag u 25+ goals .
id love to hear someone else has the same opinion because ive not heard many mention him starting as a striker next season.

Says he's off to America on Friday, perhaps he's going with cheating bastard Gerrard.

25+ goals? bloody hell, lets not put too much pressure on him then!!!!!!! He looks good don't get me wrong, but give the lad a chance and don't expect the world!

he is way behind Mcnulty for a starting berth.

Adkins will take a few weeks to look over the squad and after reviewing all the goals MM scored last year will be first on the team sheet.

Adams will be impact player - he has been very average the few games he has started.

3 goals in a handful of games were he come off the bench to play as a winger (isnt his natural position) and a couple of starts again on the wing id say thats extremely impressive . lets not forget he's come from playing infront of under a thousand at ilkeston to then playing at bramall lane. he's been blooded now , this season is his time to shine in his correct position . im pretty sure most spurs fans wouldnt have thought harry kane would bag as many as he has this season. i know talent when i see it and this lad has got enough to shine and prove the doubters wrong.

He's played 531 minutes ie about 6 games of 90 minutes.

Three goals in the equivalent of six games for a young lad coming into a new side is very impressive.

With a more positive approach from the management, I'm sure he'll flourish.

With you on this.

I agree totally that he is a tremendous talent - so is Reed.
As for being blooded - 3 games is hardly a reason to call him blooded.
As for his correct position - who actually knows what it I? Adkins has a massive problem with an unbalanced squad and from listening to his first interview, he made it very clear that he MUST get promotion this season. Any manager, never mind an experienced one like Adkins is not going to take a chance on inexperienced youngsters, and that probably includes Reed as well.

Most people say big strong players get teams out of this division - not convinced our younger players are going to get much of a look in at all except for cameo performances and the cup competitions.

As for recognising talent - you don't have a monopoly on it - the realities of this league and Adkins remit doesn't allow many slip ups at all and that's what you get from young players.

Will you lot fuck off suggesting Adams is a talented, attacking 25+ prospect for the future and the answer to our striker shortfall.

What do you lot want? Have him sold the first week of August?

If anyone asks, he's shit. Okay?

Hmmmm ..... agreed he's a great prospect but regular starter ...... probably not. He's a young development player like McNuts and I would expect him to be regularly on the bench and playing early round cup games.

I would expect NA to bring in a powerful goal scorer to dominate teams and play upfront with Done; together with 2 CHs and a big strong enforcer in midfield to stop us being muscled out of games in this agricultural division.

Suggests to me that he's a good option to come off the bench and play as a winger.
Drawing the conclusion from there that he's a 25 goal a season striker, seems a bit premature at this stage.
I'm sure he will get ample opportunity to impress Adkins in both positions in training and pre-season.
He's much more likely to go with experience over youthful promise though, given there is no margin for error next season.

Me and you are up for a little side bet on this one. Nothing big but we could have a chat about it. Whilst I agree Che may be an impact player, he is not way behind MM and MM may even be lucky to get a berth unless he bucks up his ideas of what he needs to do in a game. That said I will be pleased to be embarrassed should he perform the way you see him as.
Che for me takes his chances far quicker than MM has done so far. He also appears stronger than MM?

Think everyone starts afresh when a new manager comes in and we will get some surprises. Also no doubt some disappointments in players who aren't going to perform as well for the new manager as they did the old one.

Backing Adams to start up front seems high risk and while I want to see the kids come through he needs support around him of experience. We aren't blessed with that up front. I'd have him off the bench but give him more opportunity to start in the early season cup games. Personally I would like McNulty and Done up top but with the option of someone like Davies. Perhaps even the three on occasion.

Adams has been average when he has started . The bottom line , he is a bloody good raw talent , and has to work on his game from a concentration , positioning , timing , aspect . The lad is still learning his trade , but will become a regular choice first team player in the future . At the moment IMO , he is a impact player , with the great benefit of being unpredictable , and being able to change a game.

Still not sure about MM , who also seems to suffer from lapses in concentration . He will become a better player under Adkins , i am sure.

Or COG he'd already packed his bags ready to come before Clough got the sack

I haven't really seen him enough to say what his best position is and I think it's a bit early to consider him a first team regular. He's certainly talented and if he works hard he'll be a good player.

This "impact player" and "regular on the bench" line is just ridiculous, for me. I'm surprised there aren't people suggesting he be farmed out on loan somewhere to give him more experience.

I'm thankful that substitutes (and internet forums) didn't even exist when I started going otherwise I wonder how long it would have taken Mick Jones, Len Badger, Alan Birchenall and Alan Woodward to establish themselves as first team regulars. Mick Jones was four days short of his eighteenth birthday when he made his debut at Old Trafford in 1963 and within a month he'd scored four league goals in seven games. Len Badger made his league debut a week later at seventeen and was soon a regular. Alan Birchenall was just over a week past his nineteenth birthday when he made his debut in September 1964. Three days later he scored both our goals in a 2-0 win at Hillsborough and he went on to score seven more in our next ten league games. Woody was eighteen years and one month old when he made his first league start in October 1964. There were thirty one league games left and he played in twenty seven of them, scoring seven times.

Adams will be nineteen next month. It may be true, as Fulwood says, that you get "slip-ups" from young players but what you also get is pace, flair and a lack of inhibition. In those last few minutes at Swindon we saw a player visibly grow in confidence once it dawned on him that he had the beating of their defence and all he had to do to put the fear of God into them was to run at them and take them on. There's work to be done with him, no doubt, but he should be starting regularly from the outset next season, I've no doubt. Sink or swim is the way to go and my money would be on swim. He may or may not be as good a talent as those lads mentioned above but they made their impacts in the top flight. We're in the third tier.

he has to start playing regular football sometime how long are we going to wait? 1 year... 2years..3years?? when will he be ready if he doesnt play! players grow by playing regular football imagine how good he could be after just one full season playing 40+ games
