I wish people would stop slagging off our local journos. They work hard to provide local news and aren't paid much at all for it. Presumably they have a code of practice with regard to sources, and don't just "make things up" as some people imply. Giddings, Shield and co may not be "in the know" but I bet they know more than us. At the very least, they'll have the phone numbers of the likely candidates and have official and unofficial contacts at the heart of the club.

The Star and Radio Sheffield work on shoestring budgets and their employees have a thankless task, and we'd miss them if they vanished. Imagine if we had to rely on the Yorkshire Post and BBC Leeds for our news.

People who slag Radio Sheffield cant have heard any local football coverage from other BBC stations across the UK - they are streets ahead of the rest and for me it's outstanding. Shield is a decent chap as well.

Makes me laugh when people say no to warnock because its going backwards or a backward move
fucking right it is to the last time we had a good manager
who won games
attacked teams
got the crowd on its feet

Never mind the fact we were the dominant sheffield/yorkshire team

Who wants to go back to that eh ?
I do.

Would he have been if PNE hadn't cocked up at Colchester ;)

Grayson invariably moves on or is sacked in the season following promotion and but for our ineptitude at pens, he would have one less promotion on his CV.

Grayson is the man for a quick fix. He'd get us up.

I think Adkins and Robinson would too but with a better chance of progressing in the championship.

Those three would be my top picks.

I have to say, anyone other than Adkins and i'd be slightly disappointed to be completely honest.
I would be satisfied i suppose with Robinson if Adkins didn't want the job but i certainly wouldn't be as
optimistic and excited for the coming season if it was KR.

Really Adkins should be the man we do everything we can to get he has done the lot and got the tee shirt, managed in league one up to the premiership playing a good style of football while doing it. His only downside is his time at Reading but from what I can see they are a club that has been in decline for around four years now and it shows no sign of bottoming out yet. We should do all we can to get the man who has a proven track record in this league, the same in the league above and experience of keeping a team in the Premiership ............................. he really is the stand out option.

If we can get him! Its a big ask!

Can we afford not to get him ?

It's a massive ask. He was well in the mix for Cardiff and Leeds according to the rumours. He could get a Championship job at Xmas.

The attraction of SUFC is we are a bit like Soton, big crowds, big potential, great Academy, etc.

Reading are still up for sale aren't they? So they are just plodding along until they get new investors. Steve Clarke has hardly done much with them since December.

Let me see who would be the more attractive club to join Cardiff with the crazy bloke from the far east as owner or Leeds with a nut job of an Italian who no doubt will go through six managers next season both clubs as corrupt as fuck (strange how Risdale was at both at some point) or us ?
One of the biggest things holding this club back is small time thinking and has been for years we always try doing things on the cheap I'm sure the club motto must be "aim low achieve all your objectives" If you don't try for the best you can you end up with mediocre managers like Clough

I've tried, without success, to understand that. I'll ask Hoofy Morgs. He's a clever chap.

This Hoofy football is a myth . You have to know what you are doing . Even the top sides play hoofy football.

Percentage football is were you fail .

I have come to the point on what style we play , as long as we get out of league 1 . I will go for ,nicey nicey when the time is right.

My only concern is that he's already won four promotions. That's a lot when you think how few have won more. And he's won three from L1. How many managers get promoted from the same division four times?

Well Clough won't.

It seems very much a Sheffield United thing to say we want hoofball if it means success. Like playing good football and being sucessful are mutually exclusive.

They aren't. I want them both and, if and when we get both, it gives more chance of continued success at a higher level.

Simon Grayson just has. Having 3 lg1 promotions to his name didn't put preston off. He's the one that got away.. Let's not make the same mistake with Adkins

You mix and match depending how the games is going , who you are playing , strengths weaknesses of the opposition . Its i suppose what you call tactics , with a plan A, B and C .

Something we have sadly lacked with a succession of managers , perhaps highlighted even more so under the Clough reign .

Agree with you.

Our Nige is already a Lane Legend.

Come on Jim, read my Tweet, just do it

That I agree with, you need to be able to play good football but also be able to mix it if needed. We got bullied too much last season. Even the best footballing sides have a mean streak in them.

After so many seasons of performing below expectations, providing dull performances and not achieving the supporters or the board's objectives, please let the next managerial appointment be a good one. Going "on the cheap" for an out of work journeyman has previously cost us dearly in terms of entertainment & success.

For once, please recruit wisely, either with a manager who has a proven track record or one with ambition, drive and a real fire in his belly to succeed.

Examples of both types (but not mentioned much on this thread):
Stuart McCall- Recent success north of the border with Motherwell and Scotland. He also called the shots in the most entertaining side we have had at BDTBL in recent years
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank - He set Burton alight with exciting, attractive football that blew away div 2 when he took over.

Lol, how could I have forgot Larry.

I think the physio thing is interesting as well. We've had too many injuries this season and you'd hope he'd have a good look at this.
